Dozo Asian Bistro & Sushi
Six of us met for lunch on a Saturday. The place has been through several owners. The decor is beautiful with flowers and classic teapots on display. We were promptly seated. Server came right over with menus. Drink orders were quickly taken and served. There were several servers helping us. Two of us got the special “Initial Roll” plus avocado salad. My wife ordered the pineapple fried rice. Others had sushi and tempura. All was delicious. We will definitely come back again.
i loved this place! the interior was really pretty and the service was super quick as well, at least when i went. the food there was so so so delicious. don't regret stopping here at all. prices are also really fair and overall cheap for most people. nice atmosphere and staff.
New Haven's Taste of China
The service was slow. Husband got his chicken about 15 minutes before I got my rice. The twice cooked pork rice was not good. The pork didn’t even taste cooked. So many other good choices .
Here’s a fun Christmas story: Realizing that Christmas Eve and Christmas/Hanukkah are very popular times for Chinese food, I and my family made a reservation for 12 people at 6:00 on Christmas night weeks in advance. When we arrived, we could not get in the front door because all the scooter delivery drivers were standing in the vestibule and at the front desk blocking entry. When we finally made it in, we were escorted to the very back of the restaurant where the temperature was a brisk 62-ish, as compared to the front of the restaurant, which was warmer. While walking back, it was clear that the restaurant was at about 95% capacity. I can only assume that most of the people there had the foresight to make reservations. When we arrived in the very back, we were presented with a table for 8. Not 12. 8. Pretty simple stuff. Fortunately, the table of 4 next to us very reluctantly moved one table over to accommodate us. So, right there, you’ve got 16 annoyed people. Not a good start. When the 1 waiter serving the entire back finally came around to give us water and take our drink order after about 30 minutes, it became clear that we were in for a real treat. We ordered drinks. They came 30 minutes later. We ordered appetizers and entrees. Most often, when the waiter haphazardly, over a period of 90+ minutes brought food back, he had no idea what table it belonged to. All the guests were claiming similar dishes and turning back dishes they didn’t order. Some capitulated and took what they could get. During this 90+ minutes, I walked to the front of the restaurant to see what was happening and thaw myself out a little. Almost every table in the place was expressing annoyance because the same was happening to them. Meanwhile, the scooter delivery drivers were again crowding the front. Even more this time. I told the front desk that it would be best to suspend delivery. They ignored me. I went back to eat, and found the food undercooked, lukewarm and just plain bad. Unfortunately, 3 in our party woke up vomiting and with diarrhea in the middle of the night. Others simply felt queasy and had chills. The kitchen was clearly overwhelmed. The whole place was. Bottom lines: The management showed utter disregard for the diners that night, to wit: They had to know this was coming. They didn’t staff even close to properly. They allowed a huge amount of take out at the expense of everyone dining there (they should have shut it down). They clearly sacrificed food quality for quantity. They were rude when people became annoyed. People got sick from something they ate there (I’m guessing we weren’t the only ones). The atmosphere was terrible, mostly because it was freezing. The service was an absolute joke. The whole restaurant was annoyed and they did nothing to remedy it. I’ve eaten there many times and have found the food to be pretty good, but pricey. I’ve found the staff to be unfriendly, which I can generally tolerate. But the total lack of integrity and disregard for the customers that night was so bad that I won’t support them. This really wasn’t rocket surgery. They had to see it coming and they clearly didn’t care. Not a good strategic plan.
Rice On Fire
It’s a very small establishment and has around six stools for you to sit on across this long table if you want seating. The menu is pretty basic. The food is awesome. Well seasoned and fresh. This was my first time eating here and I am a VERY VERY picky eater. I got the hibachi rice bowl with salmon and broccoli. The broccoli was cooked perfectly and so was the salmon. I wish I had added extra protein because it was lacking just a bit in terms of portion but was BIG on flavor. I got a side of yum yum sauce and spicy mayo. My favorite was the spicy mayo. The yum yum was a bit on the sweeter side, but still good. If I would give this place a 10/10 I would! Affordable and yummy food :)
I just happened to go in there recently. I have never been in there before and I ordered the chicken wings and egg roll and it was so delicious. The best chicken wings I've tasted in a very long time in New Haven so I said I wanted to try one of the bowls and I went back again today and I got the bowl with salmon and jalapenos and the rice. Everything was delicious so I would definitely be going back again very soon 👍

Excellent place for authentic Sichuan food in New Haven. Semi-casual atmosphere with relaxing piano music playing as I dined. Service was good (food came out fast!) and I appreciated that they packed my leftovers for me. Chongqing chicken is one of my favorite dishes and it was great here — perfect blend of crunchy, salty, and spicy without being too overwhelming. The presentation was very cute too. I also loved the eggplant in garlic sauce, which was cooked until tender and sweet, with the surprising but lovely addition of seaweed as well. Really enjoyed everything I had and would come here again!

Steamed
Came here for lunch as a special treat with my husband and four year old. We had a great time exploring some new foods, especially Dim Sum (we have a dim sum board game at home). The dumplings were delicious - definitely will be back.
Highly recommend their beef noodle soup, shrimp shumai and steamed buns! I don’t particularly enjoy their vegetable noodle soup — it’s a bit bland. Ambiance is great (downstairs seating is nice) and service was quick!
Toka Asian Kitchen
Amazing food, definitely 😋 worth the visit, and they're simply lovely 😍 enjoyed the service as well. Cozy and beautiful decor, get the wings and the scallion pancakes !!!!
SO DELICIOUS wow!!!!!!! I love Indonesian food so much. The food here is handmade made with fresh ingredients and packed with authentic flavor- I can taste that it’s made with love. 10/10 recommend!
Tiger Daddy
Tiger Daddy was an absolute delight! The food was truly exceptional - every bite was bursting with flavor. I was particularly impressed by the perfect balance of tastes and textures in each dish. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the service was top-notch. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. I'll definitely be coming back for more!
I haven’t quite been to a place like Tiger Daddy before! Their style of fast casual hot pot soups is pretty unique, and I enjoyed customizing my own bowl with beef and spam. They had a ton of seafood options to pick from as well, and broths for every spice level. Their sushi and tuna tartare were very fresh too! Having the screens to order from is a nice touch to make sure you can order exactly what you like.
Bonchon New Haven
Came here a few months ago with some friends. I ordered beef bulgogi with some rice and kimchi, my friends got the chicken katsu, fries, and soy garlic tenders. The food was so good and flavorful! The only negative thing I have to say is that the service is not great. I specifically asked for no onions on my bulgogi and they gave me bulgogi covered in onions. When they brought me my correct order they gave me a dirty look and I didn’t receive an apology for my order being messed up. Apart from that, we all enjoyed our food. They gave me a generous portion from my bulgogi which was nice. I definitely prefer the West Hartford location though.
Fries and chicken are great! Definitely should go 1pm- 5pm time that’s when I have the best food. Have gone at 11:30am and it didn’t taste as good or as fresh.
York St Noodle House
We found this restaurant to be a great spot for a cozy, satisfying noodle meal. The noodle soup was warm, rich, and comforting, with tofu, scallions, and cilantro adding a fresh and flavorful balance. The pan-fried dumplings, drizzled with a slightly spicy sauce, were another highlight – their crispy exterior and tender filling were absolutely delicious. The fried wontons were perfectly crunchy and made for a delightful appetizer. However, we were a bit disappointed that the staff wasn’t able to accommodate our request to mix different types of noodles for a more creative meal. While the presentation and ingredients were somewhat ordinary, the comforting and well-executed flavors made up for it. Whenever we’re craving a no-fuss bowl of noodles or tasty Chinese dumplings, we’ll certainly keep this spot in mind.
Simply wow! Took my daughters there last night and it was absolutely fantastic! I got the spicy miso ramen (excellent!), one daughter had the pad Thai and the other spicy tum yum soup. The dumplings were to die for as well 😋 definitely added to the rotation going forward!!!
Tibetan Kitchen
Some of the best food I have had in New Haven! Amazing food options, glad there is a vegetarian option and hearty soups served with rice. I have only ordered take out so I have not had a sit down experience but when I pass it usually looks packed with people which is good!
Great little spot. Excellent food. Would go back. Tons of clearly labeled vegan snd vegetarian options. Himalayan ne-zom: 10/10 Chili tofu: 10/10 Momo: 10/10
Pho Thai
Hands down, some of the best food I’ve had recently! They use the freshest ingredients and make sure each dish is done the right way. The Thai Tea, Drunken noodles, fried rice was especially memorable. Must try! From appetizers to desserts, this restaurant exceeded all our expectations! The service was top-notch! The staff is friendly, attentive, and goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience.
I have to say I’m so impressed by Pho Thai! This hidden gem is right in plain sight on Orange Street. You HAVE to go on a Friday night when they do their braised lamb shank special - it’s by far the best lamb I’ve ever had in my life. It’s so tender and flavorful! It’s available for dine in only every Friday. We tried a variety of their most popular menu items and weren’t disappointed by any of them. The staff was very attentive with the food coming out quickly, and the restaurant had a nice vibe, especially near the coffee bar with some hanging, swaying chairs. We even had a couple lattes before we left and were impressed by the quality. I would definitely come back here!
September in Bangkok
The atmosphere is really nice, especially the outdoor patio. Service also great and fast. The food is pretty good too! I got the Thai iced tea and it was too sweet so if I ever order it again, I would say don’t add whipped cream. I got the Lychee Duck special and that was my favorite! Loved the flavor so much I asked to take the sauce home.
The food was spectacular. I am not from here, but I was visiting, and this restaurant caught my eye. We started with the Saigon Crispy Roll appetizers. For my entree, I got the Massaman Chicken. My fiance got Pulled Pork, See Ew. I liked how nice it was on the inside. The food was hot and tasted fresh. This Thai restaurant was way better here than any Thai restaurant back home.
