Fung Chinese Restaurant
If you're looking for Chinese food in or around the South End, you have a bunch of options. I've tested 'em all out over the years so you don't have to -- Fung is the winner, hands down. Not sure about some of these 1-star reviews, but if your throat hurts afterward like apparently happened to one reviewer, you either gotta let it cool down before you stuff it down there, or otherwise you maybe have to examine what else you might be doing to abuse your throat... hey, no judgment. I've peeped the kitchen -- flawlessly clean. I've ordered from here probably close to a hundred times throughout the years -- always felt like a million bucks afterward. Could the fried rice have a little more pizzazz? Maybe, but I think of it as a canvas on which to display the real art, like that transcendent Bourbon Chicken or the Broccoli with Garlic Sauce. It's not easy to do the type of volume this spot does and keep the oil clean and at the right temp, and yet every morsel of crispy fried goodness that ever started in that kitchen and ended up in my face hole has been *perfect*. Oh, and in order to guarantee the best delivery experience, be a G and meet them outside (they're grinding for us out here), and don't reach for other people's food off your delivery driver's passenger seat (that's kind of insane ngl).
My friend and I ordered food, and it was terrible. The lo mein had no flavor at all; the beef teriyaki did not taste good, and the chicken fried rice and bourbon chicken also were not good. The delivery guy made me walk out to his car in the cold instead of coming to my door, and after I paid, hesitated to give me my food. When I reached for the bag that was on his car seat thinking it was mine, he grabbed it back then finally gave me my food. Poor food and service, not ordering here again.
Tico's Place
Hey, its your girl honest review. Tico's hit the spot 😋 They are friendly, and food is always fresh! I got pernil with the cwispy skin, rice n gondules and beans, and sweet plantains on the side. I ate some, so my pic ain't how i got it, okuurr. Smack dabbbity dab, delicious!!! They were busy because, duhhhh, 😆 Def, check them out if you are craving Spanish food on the southend of hartford, on franklin ave! They are budget friendly, 2 meals were $18!! Until next time, Peace!
Very likeable ladies working there. We came early so the stuffed potato balls were fresh and hot. The ground beef was lightly seasoned and had some gristle in it. The potato was seasoned with probably just salt. The crust was delicate and thin. The beef empanada had a tiny scoop of ground beef. Great atmosphere. The food is cozy but sadly not something I would go out of my way for.
Yunnan Kitchen
The portion sizes were huge and the food was delicious! I really enjoyed their rice cakes as well as their fried mushrooms. The fish was also tender and flavorful and the beef stir fry was solid. If you want a more authentic Chinese food experience I would highly recommend this spot. Of course, they have Americanized Chinese food too so there’s something for everybody. Service was fast and the atmosphere was great. Perfect for a late night dinner in the winter!
🍜 **Yunnan Kitchen Review - Boston** 🍜 📍 Nestled in the South End of Boston at 1721 Washington St #B, Yunnan Kitchen stands out!🌟 🥔 **Yunnan Potato Pancake**: A crispy shredded potato masterpiece akin to a French fry pancake. A bit spicy thanks to my brother's heavy hand, but a solid 8/10. 🌶️🥞 🥩 **Stir-Fried Beef with Long Horn Peppers**: This dish offers perfectly seasoned thin cuts of beef paired with seriously spicy peppers. It’s a mouth-watering 9/10. 🔥🐄 🌿 **Mint Beef**: Thinly sliced beef with crispy fried mint leaves—light but flavorful, earning another 9/10. 🍃🥩 🍚 **Stir-Fried Rice Cakes**: A best-seller for a reason! Tossed with pickled mustard greens, pork, egg, and tomato—this dish is a must-try if you're new to rice cakes. 9/10. 🌟 🍗 **Authentic Yongping Braised Chicken**: Generously seasoned with garlic, tsao-ko, scallions, and whole chili—this dish keeps you coming back for more. 9/10. 🐔🌶️ 🐟 **Lemongrass Tilapia**: Stuffed with chili herb paste, jalapeños, garlic, lemongrass, and citrus, cooked perfectly to score a flawless 10/10. 🌿🐟 🥔🍖 **Xuanwei Ham and Potato Rice**: Cooked in a stone pot, this dish offers delightful crispy bits of rice. Absolutely delicious! 🍚🔥 👥 **Ambiance and Experience**: It's a small space, but it packs a huge punch with some of the best Chinese cuisine I've had. Myers+Chang
Some of THE best Chinese food we've ever had. We had to go two times in order to try most of the things that caught our attention. Every dish was very flavorful and delicious in its own way. Our favorite small dish was the pork and chive dumplings. These were actually the best, most perfectly executed dumplings I've ever had in my life. The exterior had a pleasing crunch at the bottom, and the interior was packed with perfectly seasoned pork and chives —all of which was elevated to the max with the most pleasing savory dipping sauce. We had to get it on both of our visits. Another personal favorite was the char siu chow fun. That dish packs a fist full of flavor right to the taste buds that leaves you wanting more. The pork was so tender and carried some of the best flavor it could have, reminiscent of chinese sausage but with actual pork. Lastly, the creme caramel dessert was a clear standout —think banana creme Brule mixed with lecheflan. It came with a piece of sesame toffee that paired extremely well with all the flavors. Creative and divine. The staff was consistently kind and welcoming, and the space had a great ambiance. This tasty little spot more than satisfies any cravings for excellent Chinese cuisine. We'll definitely be back to try even more things!
Want to have a mind blowing, flavor explosion experience? You are in the right place! EVERYTHING we ordered was 10/10. If I had to rank my favorites it would be like this: 1°:pork chive dumpling/ mussels (hard to pick the best between these two); 2°Bao buns; 3° glazed carrots and last but not least spring roll. Our server, Antonio, complemented what was already a terrific experience by giving us tips on the menu and bringing great energy. Will definitely be back!
Nan Xiang Express - South End, Boston
This place was great!!! Absolutely loved the food and dumplings, as it was my first time here. Such a friendly and warm atmosphere when walking in. Tasty, fresh and hot dumplings as I got the chicken w/ hot and sour soup. So good, they easily melt in your mouth. Will be back again soon to try other menu options. Please if you’re in the area stop by this cute space, you won’t be disappointed.
We went here because we had recently tried the main location in Flushing, Queens, and had absolutely loved it. However, this Express spot was extremely disappointing. We got the Crab & Pork Xiao Long Baos (soup dumplings) and Steamed Vegetarian Dumplings—two of the same dishes we had at the Flushing location—and they were extremely underwhelming. Both the dough and fillings were bland and completely lacking in seasoning or flavor. I couldn’t taste the crab at all in the soup dumplings, and the meat filling was nondescript and one-note. The steamed vegetable dumplings were slightly better, but still unimpressive. Both dumplings came in plastic to-go boxes even though we ordered dine-in. I guess that's because this is an Express location, but it didn't help
Trap chicken
I love there food, desserts, juice and atmosphere
6 piece wings, Mac and cheese and yams, overall was good. The Mac taste a lil like they put some herb seasoning in the Mac, not really a big fan of that, yams is sweet watch out now lol u can tell they were glazed i taste a bit of nutmeg i cud be wrong. Wings were very fresh! Definitely will try other things on menu.
Ho Mei
Listen, absolutely not. I had to rush to ER after eating this. The food is NOT good. Everything tastes weird! The meat tastes gross!!!! The crab rangoon only had onion in it!! After eating this, which I could barely finish it, a day later began sweating, fevers, vomiting etc!!! NEVER AGAIN!!! Cannot make this stuff up!!!!
Disscusting food. The place looks like the health department need to go inspect. They won't deliver straight to the door which is ridiculous. Discount restaurant on State St is way better food
China Express
Good place if you’re are craving for some Chinese food along Shelburne Road. It doesn’t look much from the outside but for me, food is good and serving size is good as well. General Tso’s chicken with pork fried rice is my go to (just the right amount of spiciness) and a soda. It cost me just about $12. Parking is limited, no drive thru, limited indoor seating and not much interaction with staff. You can order ahead for pick up.
An old chinese resto which clearly needs upgrading to attract more customers. Food tastes okay, usually this type of resto in asia tastes the best(in asia, the older the place looks the more delicious the food is but this is different) they have combo meals. service is okay, not much joy and entertaining to customers. Clean restrooms. Has one high chair. Accepts credit and debit. Parking is ample outside. Signage says there is a drive thru but there is NONE.
Hong Kong Restaurant
I use to work in Tacoma in late 1990s and early 2000s and came here for lunch frequently. It was good food and great service then and still is now. I moved to Oregon in 2005 and have since moved back to Pierce County. Today, April 10, 2025, I came by for the lunch special - combination plate of sweet and sour pork, pork fried rice and almond chicken. It was delicious with plenty of food...I am taking some of it home for my dinner tonight. The staff members are awesome! It was the same enjoyable experience that I remember way back when! I will - for sure - be back! :)
The service and decor is amazing. It’s classic American Chinese restaurant. They were very kind to our Sox month old. Of what we ordered my favorite was the general tso chicken. It was very crisp. We got 8/10 spicy which I liked. Hot and sour soup was pretty good. Lots of veggies in it which was tasty though different. Crab Rangoon were pretty good. My wife got Mongolian beef which was too sweet for her. We also noticed an old Sue Kidd sticker. I’m curious to see her review. We’ll be back to try more menu items.
Red Dragon Teriyaki Restaurant
Owners were super duper nice, and the prices are great. Unfortunately the chicken katsu was....not good. It was thin, dry and mostly breading. The spicy chicken was better. The tonkatsu sauce was just bottled teriyaki sauce. I hope they get better at making chicken katsu as I really want to go here again, their prices are incredible.
I am giving it 1 stars because the service was decent enough for takeout. The general tsao chicken was sweet, the rice had too much pepper and not enough flavor. The egg rolls were small bland, and flavorless. The gyoza were over cooked and bland.
Ming Palace
Jason and his wait staff are excellent. They were friendly and welcoming. They were able to give us suggestions without being pushy. They Love to talk so they can get to know you. it was a pleasant evening. My wife and I ordered several items totaling the total of about $68 the food was delicious. we have plenty of food to take home. We will be back again.
The staff here is amazing! So very friendly and welcoming that even IF the food wasn't what we expected, we'd come back just because of the staff. Fortunately, the food was delicious!! We ordered take out. When we arrived home about 15 minutes later, the food was still piping hot. While we waited for our food, we were given jasmine tea which was very delicious and warmed us up. It was a very nice gesture that won us over. Well, so did the food. The beef broccoli tasted very fresh, that broccoli was very green and still had a bit of fresh crunch. The spring rolls were my favorite side item. Pop stickers were very, very delicious as well!! I will say, the area isn't the greatest, but that is not something that the restaurant can really change. It didn't really bother me since I was there to grab food and not there for the outside neighborhood. Give this place a try.
Harbor City Tacoma Restaurant
Everything was perfect. The food being delicious is one thing, but they also add tons upon tons more amount of food on your plate. You would think the food would be expensive with the quality and quantity of the dish, though it’s super duper cheap for how it is. $100 worth of food was enough to feed me and my family for dinner, tomorrow’s lunch, tomorrow’s dinner, and maybe the next next day’s lunch again. It’s incredible of the amount they give you. It’s such a steal. Customer service was amazing too. They’re super nice, helpful, and even funny lol. The atmosphere just felt as if everyone is enjoying their meal and it’s such a positive feeling being inside the restaurant. Please, give this restaurant a try, and enjoy !!
Great dimsum. No carts just order from menu. Old converted Mexican restaurant, medium small space. One big round table probably to seat 7. About 8 or 9 4-chair square tables. Love their dimsum, got the pork, fish and tofu pot good too. Salt pepper squid tasty.
