Han Asian Cuisine
Order was incorrect, and I had to argue on the phone for 10 minutes to get a credit for the food. The manager tried to gaslight me the entire time into thinking the order was correct, when the roll they gave me was clearly not cooked shrimp. It appeared to be raw salmon instead. It's okay, honest mistakes happen, but they should have instantly credited instead of stressing me out and giving me a hard time about it. And to have the gall to try and make me doubt my own eyes... I've attached a picture of the 'shrimp'. Also, $4.00+ for one piece of sushi is steep... Sushi should go for $1.00-$2.00 per piece. I was mistaken on what I was getting for the price. It's good, but it's not THAT good. If something is wrong with your order, just take the loss and move on. It's not worth it, trust me.
The most amazing sushi and service! Anna was fantastic! We went here for the first time to celebrate our 9th anniversary, and it definitely was the right choice. Everything was above expectations, and we will definitely be returning soon.
Main Moon Chinese Restaurant
Good take away Chinese option in the area. The dumplings and beef mushroom were good. Crab Rangoon had little crab but many scallions, so still had flavor.
Best Chinese food in the area, the steamed dumplings are absolutely delicious and come with the most amazing sauce ever. The prices are very reasonable portions are large and the quality of food is excellent. You will not be disappointed with this place they are amazing.
Mama Khang
Been going here since 2011 and the food is always consistent and tasty! Feels like home cooked food! You cannot go wrong! Try the Tofu Fried Rice!
Mama Khang has amazing food and even better service! The rare beef pho and shrimp fried rice is delicious. The service is beyond compare. Recently I lost track of time and called in a take out order five minutes after they closed and they STILL told me to come on in!
Saybrook Fish House
Amazing to find really good, fresh fish along with excellent service in middle of CT. Perfect place to enjoy a perfectly fried, Captains platter with scallops, cod, clam bellies, shrimp and calamari with a side salad and fries. Enjoyed meal on outside patio while cool, sun was out. Will return. Waitress was very attentive, checking to make sure we enjoyed meal. We also enjoyed a very creamy and tasty clam chowder and chicken wings.
Went to Canton and Rocky Hill restaurants. Fish stew is one of my favorites. Rocky Hill is hands down the winner. RH has more fish variety in the stew and is much spicier. Had fish combo at RH. Best fish around, I highly recommend. Family style salad with great house dressings. Dinner still comes with an after dinner fruit bowl. Wait staff was very attentive. Definitely my go to fish restaurant.
Sweet Mango
11-25-24 On A Positive Note: I’ve dined here on two prior occasions. Today, I was seated at the bar. The bar is rather high for the seats. Nonetheless, my hibachi shrimp was tasty and well sauced. I didn’t need to use the mustard or the ginger sauce. The server was very attentive. She cleared my soup and salad bowls immediately after I finished each of them. However, she did not offer to refill my water. The Verdict: Great food and service. I deducted one star from the atmosphere due to the awkwardness of the bar height in comparison to the stool. I’m 5’ 7”. I would dine here again- just not at the bar.😊
This place has some of the best sushi in the state!! My favorite is the Paradise Roll, it is outstanding!!! I highly recommend this restaurant for incredible sushi!! I am a fan for life!!!! For dessert try the warm sweet rice and fresh mango!
Meadow Restaurant
Nestled in Simsbury, this Japanese restaurant offers an exquisite dining experience that rivals NYC's finest without the hefty price tag. The food is simply outstanding, beautifully presented and perfectly portioned to satisfy any appetite. The staff's warm hospitality makes even first-time visitors feel like cherished regulars. With indoor seating as elegant as the dishes and an outdoor patio perfect for summer days, it's a true local gem. For those in the area, this spot comes highly recommended for a memorable meal that won't break the bank.
Just outstanding all around. The Pad Thai (chicken) was so good we ordered 2 more orders to go. Sushi, Chinese, Thai, nice fresh salad with ginger dressing. Warm atmosphere, great service.
Chopt Creative Salad Co.
I went to CHOPT Creative Salad in Glastonbury for a quick and healthy meal. I had no idea what kind of salad I wanted to eat. Ryan prepared my meal and he was absolutely patient, professional, and customer service friendly. He happily answered all my questions and his attitude was so AMAZING! I thanked him profusely for being so patient with me. His demeanor is what restaurants need to retain and gain more customers. I hope his manager sees this review and recognize him for going above and beyond. We all can learn a lot from Ryan! Thank you again!
My daughter and I enjoyed dinner at Chopt in Glastonbury. The salad and service was excellent. The manager was working on the floor, cleaning the trash cans and wiping tables. Usually I don't see that. I was very impressed. Thank you for an excellent dining experience. Ilda&Mia
Sakura Garden Japanese Steakhouse
We absolutely had a fun time. The hibachi was spectacular and our chef was very good. The food was great for a hibachi restaurant. The service could’ve been a little bit better I had to ask for my drink several times. We asked them to change the TV channel from something other than sports and they did change the channel but just to another sports channel, I don’t quite understand why Japanese steakhouse wants to play sports on big screen TVs I had to filet mignon my wife had some sushi and our friends had chicken combos and sushi themselves. We will go back. We had a great time.
My fiance and I came here on a weekday afternoon for lunch with two other friends. I ordered the sirloin steak hibachi cooked rare. The fried rice was delicious, but that's about the only positive thing I can say about our experience. The vegetables were mushy, overcooked, and smothered with a teriyaki sauce (to the point where I was basically eating teriyaki puree). My steak came out medium-well and chewy. My fiance really wanted to order a bento lunch box but the waitress kept trying to convince her that the portions were tiny and that anything else would be a better deal. She ended up ordering the sushi lunch, which was the same price as a bento lunch but only came with 4 pieces of sushi and a California roll. My friends ordered the bento lunch, which had at LEAST twice the amount of food as the sushi lunch. To add insult to injury, the sushi pieces that my fiance picked out were inedible. They were all sour and slightly foul as if they had already gone bad. Not only that, but every piece tasted heavily of chlorinated water, and she ended up getting sick when we went home.
The Rolling Roti
My mom (vegan) and I (vegetarian) tried the veggie platter today from The Rolling Roti’s food truck while they were in town and it was absolutely delicious! So filling and so tasty! I felt like $20 each was well worth all the amazing food we got! Can’t wait to try out some other menu items sometime!
For anyone considering eating here, I just want to say Google is free and do research about Guyanese food before leaving a review. Because this food was authentic, delicious, and plentiful--any real Guyanese knows it. We ordered goat curry, veggie plate (spinach, channa, double okra instead of potatoes), roti, beef bowl, and chowmein with jerk chicken. The goat curry was perfectly cooked. It had a beautiful blend of spices and soaked wonderfully in the roti. The meat was halal and fresh, and it was coming right off the bones as it should be. The salad that came with the chowmein had a delicious homemade dressing, and the jerk chicken was nice and spicy. We had the food with pepper sauce on the side so we can control the spice, but you have to ask for the pepper. The roti?? Ooh I got emotional eating that roti it was so good. Light and flaky, but not too much. Held the food and sopped up all the flavor. Had an extra piece with tea later in the night. 100% will visit again 🇬🇾✨️
Shun Cheong Restaurant
I really did not like the food I got. I ordered sesame chicken and it was so chewy and not good. I’m not even picky. I used to come here a lot when I was younger and decided to try it out since I was in town. Never again.
The food is prepared will minimal ingredients. Wings come out hard and fried rice is not very appetizing.
C J's Restaurant
This place restored my faith in humanity. For anyone looking for a good meal in New Britain, skip the chain restaurants and head to CJs. I went for an early breakfast before work. Delicious spinach and feta omelette, and my coffee was constantly refilled. The staff could not have been nicer and it warmed my heart seeing the genuine love between them and the regulars at the counter. Keep doing you, CJs. You're what this world needs.
My dad goes to CJ’s every Saturday for Breakfast bright and early. He’s always awake super early do this place is his go to for early morning breakfast. Sam & Al have been running this place for forever. The service is quick and friendly and the food is fresh and made fast. Sam has a “Hiya honey” or “Good morning sunshine” To all the regulars that walk in the door each week. It’s reminiscent of all those dinners back in the day. Hot coffee is made consistently the entire time you’re there. Pancakes and bacon were fantastic . So good we had to get some to go as well. In the New Britain area CJs is the go to spot for breakfast.
Chinatown Chinese Restaurant
November 2024 - Looking for a new Chinese place, we chose the Chinatown Restaurant in Canton. Checking out the online menu, some details were left out about some of the items, so I called before a family member picked up our takeout. Very helpful, it sounded like the Chef himself as he was busy cooking, he told me they only had one dumpling, not a choice of vegetable or pork. They put both together. He also said the House Lo Mein consisted of shrimp, chicken and pork. Our takeaways were as follows: The egg roll and shrimp roll had the same crispy wrapping and were both good. The spring rolls were not to our family member's liking as they had what all of the Chinese places around us currently have which is a paste of some kind in the center. I will have to try these myself to see what they mean. The wonton soup was very good. The right temperature, wonton dough not too dense, filling was pure and the broth was flavorful. Their dumplings were also cooked expertly, but one family member found the combination unsatisfying as there wasn't either enough meat or vegetables to their liking. The rest of us enjoyed them, though I realize if you're a vegetarian you cannot get dumplings here as in other restaurants where they make both. Mains: The winner was General Tso's chicken. I never order it, but so many people do and it always seems like a winner overall. The serving was plentiful, the chicken was tender with a soft coating and a little broccoli on the side, which is common with this dish. The beef and broccoli also had tender meat, a good sauce and was a good portion size. The only negative was the broccoli stalks were too long and undercooked. A large container of well cooked white rice came to share with this meal and the Tso's chicken. The House Lo Mein did not look anything to me like what I would get in California, but even after so many years back home in CT, I'm still adjusting to these differences. What looked like a container of brown noodles with a little bit of addons, I asked, is this mine? Yes, was the response as everyone was happy to run off with theirs. Fortunately, it tasted better than it looked presentation wise. Still, I could only have two servings before giving the other half away for someone else's lunch the next day. Our favorite thing we all agreed they did the best with this order, was their House Fried Rice with an added egg. Perfectly made with shrimp, chicken, pork, the egg and some fresh peas. Plenty of fortune cookies were included in the bag, along with chopsticks and a variety of sauces. They do have indoor seating. Maybe six tables? The owners are very polite and accommodating. Open six days a week basically 11Am - 10Pm. Closed Mondays and most holidays. Plenty of parking as they are within a small shopping plaza.
I ordered fried rice, and I had a very bad week, and I just wanted my fried rice. And spoke specifically to have my fried rice. And guess what? It wasn't in there. So I cried. Good food overall.
