While visiting family, I decided to make Tom Yum. After a valiant attempt searching both high-&-low for one of the main ingredients “kaffir lime leaves”. The only local store in the area that carried it was Food Star Market. After walking around inside, I noticed several main Asian ingredients you wouldn’t be able to find at your local Stop & Shop. Over-all place was clean and people were very helpful. They also had a small restaurant inside; which I didn’t try. My advice, if you are searching for particular Asian ingredients, this store might be your best shot in the area. Worth calling or stopping-by to exam what you can use to produce some delicious Asian meals.

My friends and I got the opportunity to dine in at the restaurant today. It was a quiet setting but it’s very cozy. The general tso’s chicken with pork fried rice was absolutely delicious. That was the best pork fried rice i’ve ever had, you could tell it was flavored and cooked with love. Such a bonus that it is connected to the market and you get to choose between a variety of asian snacks! This place definitely feels family owned and I will definitely be coming more frequently and telling more people about this place! 5 Star

It’s taken me 10 years to talk my husband into giving this restaurant a try. Its location (at the end of a strip mall anchored by Hamden’s supermarket for poor people) made him suspicious. And when you’re eating raw fish, you want to be confident in the quality of your food. Despite the somewhat shady location, it’s a totally different experience once you step inside. There’s a little pond with fish and turtles in it, some fake glowing cherry blossom trees (fun fact: that’s what “Sakura” means in Japanese), and a circle-shaped bar that all contribute to much better ambiance than you would expect in the price rite plaza. I’m only giving it four stars for ambiance though because a) my husband was weirded out by the fake fish on the wall in the bar area that he had to look at during the whole meal and b) the hibachi section is noisy and full of kids crying, people screaming, etc. If they could isolate the hibachi section a little better, it would be a more pleasant dining experience for everyone else. Everything we ate was outstanding (including the “outstanding roll” - my husband’s favorite). Service was absolutely perfect - better than I’ve had in fancier restaurants. For example, we ordered a bunch of stuff including a couple soups. He asked if we want the soup first or everything as it’s ready. I really appreciate that. Too many times at other places they’ll give us our entrees before our starters arrive. I find that so annoying and it ruins the meal. Anyhow, excellent food, perfect service, and surprisingly nice vibe inside (if you can ignore the loud hibachi people and fake fish mounted on walls).

Server only once came to our table to drop off our initial drinks. Never came back again. We ordered hibachi and never got our soup our our salad either. Also noticed s forced 10% tip, I always leave 20% (and we did regardless of the poor service). Just thought it was a little shady.

WOW! Tried first time, I was amazed at how beautiful my dish was. Very fancy for low price. Garlic fried rice was amazing! Fantastic Thai iced tea. I'll go back for sure!

High quality food. Allow customized meals, gluten free upon request. Delicious and satisfying. Really enjoy the drunken noodles with a little spuce. Salmon fresh and large portions.

It’s hard to find a winner for taste, service and price. Thai Smile checks off all 3. We enjoyed pad see ew, appetizer and bubble tea. It was all tasty and served promptly. The place is small but clean and bright, and lunch ranges from $8-$10. Will definitely return next time in that area.

We've ordered from here several times already. Every time we try something new. The food is top notch quality. You can tell someone who knows what they're doing is running the kitchen. Delicious and authentic!

This restaurant, conveniently located near a Tesla Supercharger, is a great spot to grab a quick and delicious bite. The enticing sounds from the half-open kitchen are a testament to the high quality of the food.

Came for lunch, disappointed. Got the Drunken chicken lunch special with rice and crab Rangoon. I'm always leery of ground chicken, it was ok. The crab Rangoon was disgusting, not even sure what that yellow stuff was coming out of the stale overcooked shell. Such a bummer.

We found our new favorite ramen place! Everything was wonderful! The food was delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was modern, clean, and spacious, and I loved the light fixtures. I can't wait to go back and try more items on the menu.

I chose Roishi for a lunch date. It was actually a first date with someone I met on Hinge. I live in Vermont, but drive down to Branford, CT regularly to see my parents. I am always looking for new spots to try in the New Haven area, particularly Asian/Japanese/sushi. I don’t eat beef, pork or poultry. I do eat pretty much all the creatures of the sea and Asian cuisines are perfect for that. Vermont is, honestly, a restaurant desert. We have few choices and most are not great. So I am always excited to try a new place when I’m in CT. Hamden really has quite a few places to eat and Asian restaurants are well represented. I was specifically looking for a place with good food and good vibes. As in a nice, comfortable interior where you could potentially get to know someone over a meal. I checked out all the photos of Roishi online and I read through their menu. The interior looked nice, with booths and a bar with TVs behind. Nice, chill vibe and there were plenty of options for me on the menu. Roishi has a full Ramen menu (which definitely was not for me on a first date…slurping my way through a huge bowl of soup! LOL) and all sorts of Bubble Tea. For those who are into Boba. I don’t think Roishi is a chain. But the building is SO NICE I felt like maybe it took chain money to build it (LOL). It is a very new seeming, stand alone, building that is pretty much entirely glass on two sides. So you can sit in a booth right in the window. Which we did. The booths are very comfortable and there is a ton of natural light from the window. I thought it was a perfect spot for a first date: comfortable, nice, chill. I was wanting to have some sake with my lunch and checked online to make sure they served it. They do, but they have a super limited selection. So I got one of those sort of single serving, pop top glass bottles. It was fine. Nothing great. But drinkable! We shared a series of rolls. I ordered one or two at a time so we could talk and eat and go at our own pace. The date was going GREAT, so this approach allowed us to be there for hours and to be eating something the whole time. If your date is not going great you can just order your rolls, eat them and get out! Which is another reason why Roishi is the perfect choice for a first date. We started out with the Baja Roll: Tuna, yellowtail, jalapeño, cilantro and tobiko inside with guacamole and crispy spring sheet with cilantro emulsion . It sounded good and it was good! The guacamole is definitely just pre mashed avocado they buy (i.e., not freshly made), but ingredients were good otherwise and the roll was well made and tasty. Then I ordered the Roishi Roll (white tuna, yellow tail, avocado, tobiko inside green soy wrap, tuna, salmon and spicy mayo outside) and the Whitney Avenue Roll (tuna, salmon, spicy mayo, with no crunch. I do not like the crunch bits that are added to everything and it fills me up too quickly so I can’t eat as much. Plus, who amongst us needs to be eating MORE fried things?? Date was still going really well, so I ordered their vegetable roll, the salmon avocado roll and the spicy salmon roll with no crunch. Everything was really good. Super solid rolls. Well made/constructed. Properly sized and cut. I bet the ramen is really good… Strongly recommend.

The place has a nice dimly-lit look, and the service was quick. Good seating for both small and large groups. The food was hit or miss. The tandoori platter and chicken corn soup were disappointing, but the malai kofta and madras chicken were delicious. The chili garlic naan was good too. They gave us complimentary dal tadka, which was a nice touch—and it tasted great. For dessert, the gulab jamuns were good, but the mango kulfi was old and icy, not fresh. Overall, it’s a decent spot, and I’d go back, but you might need to try a few different dishes to find what you like.

This is the type of food you would expect from a good Indian food restaurant. You have typical common dishes, lots of vegetarian choices, general awareness to food allergies, etc. The staff was super attentive, kept our waters filled the whole time, and food was fresh. There were lots of Naan bread flavors, food was hot and fresh when appropriate. Their buffet is no longer in service and serves as a packing station which is used for take out and leftovers. The location in Hamden is nothing special. The yellow napkins added color to an otherwise dark restaurant motif. I'd easily order takeout or come back here again when in the area. Come here for the yummy food and leave with a full belly.

This place is a hidden gem! The staff is always very friendly and accommodating, and the food is delicious!!! Full of flavor, and everything is fully customizable! We order takeout from them a lot and they are one of the few local places that always impress me with their consistency. The ginger chicken is the best! They have lots of seating inside if you eat there, and a small parking lot out back plus street parking (I never have an issue finding a spot). Thanks for creating an aesthetically pleasing, delicious spot!

Food was delicious! The chicken and gyro bowl excellent recommendation by the cashier. Even though our order was missing ingredients (chickpeas) it was delicious.

Everything about the food here was great. I went alone as I do most places that I do reviews for because I have time to sit and think about my food, the service, the environment, as oppose to when I’m with friends or family, which can be sometimes distracting. The sushi here is great. It’s a good lunch spot for yourself or with a friend. It’s definitely not the spot to take a large group. My favorite sushi roll was the sweet potato roll.

Recently dined at this fantastic restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. They offer an all-you-can-eat menu for $30, and during weekdays, you can enjoy an all-you-can-eat lunch for just $21.99. The sushi was delicious, with each piece freshly prepared and flavorful. Other items on the menu were equally good, showcasing a variety of tasty options. The staff were courteous and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience for everyone. Highly recommended for both sushi lovers and those looking to enjoy a variety of dishes at a great value.

I went here the other night for dinner with my wife. We've been a few times over the past year. We ordered 3 sushi rolls, a few hand rolls, general tsos chicken and a side of hibachi noodles. As always, everything was very good and tasted fresh. For the price, the sushi is very good, especially compared to some other places that charge close to double for similar rolls. My only minor issue is that they charged an extra $2 for a small side of Sriracha sauce we used for the hand rolls, but they did let us know before and we agreed, so it wasn't a blind side or anything. Overall, everything was great and we'll be back again!

Went here once so that's why only 4 stars. The food I got was very good. My significant other got sushi and he really liked it. The location is not that good because the road has been under construction for a while so be aware of where you're supposed to park. It will be to the right of the restaurant. Did not try their Hibachi!

This a Chinese take out establishment with traditional Cantonese style food. Easy to call, efficient. . I like their spare ribs on the bone and Green Jade vegetables. Reminds me of my youth.

This evening I just ordered a small order of shrimp and broccoli with garlic sauce and white rice. My order was wrong, they forgot the shrimp. As I’m eating, I notice a something weird. I spit out the food, look further into my bowl and there was a long black piece of hair in my food, it was definitely not my hair as I have short hair, as well as a hat. I’m so disgusted!! and will never eat from the restaurant again! They need to wear hair nets. Beware.

CJ was an excellent host and all the items were great quality. It can be overwhelming to have both the hotpot (which costs about $5.99 extra) and the BBQ. The sauce table had a lot of items like fried rice, crab leg, and crawfish. This place is great for large groups and the staff do an excellent job of replenishing broth and changing the grills.

I recently visited here with a friend, and we both had a fantastic time! It was our first experience at an all-you-can-eat restaurant, and it didn’t disappoint. The food was great, with plenty of variety to choose from. A special shoutout goes to our waitress, Tiffany, who made our visit even more enjoyable. She was incredibly helpful and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed and providing excellent service throughout our meal. Her friendliness truly made the experience memorable. If you're looking for a place with great food and outstanding service, Here is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend it!!
