Beyond Sushi Thai
So glad we came across this hidden gem! Came in with a group of 10 and we all had a great time. Every dish we ordered was amazing and the service was quick as well. We are already discussing coming back to try more dishes later this week. Tons of options for vegetarians. Our favorite dishes were the ones recommended by our server! BYOB
10 out of 5 This is the best Asian restaurant in Vail and possibly Colorado. They have a huge menu from sushi to Thai but the stand outs are their Chinese dishes. If you want authentic Szechuan this is the place! What we got: - Wonton soup - homemade dumplings had a good ginger and garlic flavor. Big enough for two as an app. - Double cooked pork - absolutely outstanding. Big portion with vegetables, fermented black beans, so good! - Spicy crispy fish - highly recommend this if you like spicy food. I love this dish whether the chicken or fish variations and this might have been the best I’ve had! I can’t say enough about the Chinese food. We were blown away with how good they were. Our server Patrick was incredible. He was so friendly and welcoming. He’s a serious skier and you can often find him backpacking 30+ pounds of cooking gear to make fresh food slope side! We have tried many places in Vail and I highly, highly, highly recommend this place. The interior is small so I recommend making a reservation. Pro tip: it’s BYOB so bring a bottle of wine or a few beers!
May Palace
Classic American Chinese food joint that has some pan-Asian fare. We got and would recommend the vegetable tofu soup, szechuan beef (spicy!) and the mushu vegetables. They still use tablecloths and real napkins, and rice comes with every entree. If you're expecting the most authentic Chinese cuisine, I think you'll be disappointed. But, if you know what you're getting into, the portions are good, the food fresh and not overly salted, and the prices reasonable, especially for a place like Vail.
I had an incredible dining experience at May Palace! The Mongolian beef was absolutely perfect—tender, flavorful, and coated in a rich, savory sauce with just the right amount of sweetness. The balance of flavors and the tenderness of the meat made every bite delicious. Twice cooked pork was simply the best amazing Chinese food in Colorado The Thai coconut curry was another standout dish. Creamy, fragrant, and packed with bold flavors, it had just the right level of spice and a velvety texture that made it impossible to stop eating. The combination of fresh vegetables and protein in the curry soaked up all the goodness of the sauce beautifully. Beyond the food, the service was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was warm and inviting. Whether you’re craving classic Chinese dishes or something with a Thai twist, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!
