About Ziki Japanese Restaurant

Ziki Japanese Restaurant, located at 279 W Centre Ave, Portage, MI 49024, USA, with phone numbers (269) 459-9166 and +1 269-459-9166, is presented on the platform as a Chinese Restaurant. However, customer reviews overwhelmingly indicate that Ziki is a highly-regarded Japanese restaurant.

Customers consistently praise Ziki for its "exemplary" service, noting that it is a family-operated business. The atmosphere is described as "A+" and having a "cute charm." The menu is considered "simple yet diverse," offering something for everyone, with reviewers stating that "everything on the menu is best in its class." One out-of-town traveler who has dined at many Japanese restaurants across the country even declared that they would "go out of my way to dine here" if ever in the area again, giving A+ ratings for service, atmosphere, and food.

Ziki is also highlighted for its exceptional value. One pair went "overboard" with three appetizers, three entrees, and two desserts for under $100, emphasizing the "extremely high value at any price." This reviewer believes that the quality offered at Ziki typically costs at least 50% more elsewhere and wishes that every Japanese restaurant across America could learn from them, suggesting that Ziki "really do set the standard here."

Another customer who visited for lunch found the food to be "good and very hot" upon arrival. They enjoyed the "reasonable" prices and the quiet atmosphere during their midday visit. Appetizers ordered included shrimp tempura and an eel with avocado roll. For entrees, they had beef ramen with creamy pork bone soup and hibachi new york strip. While the steak was noted as "a little overcooked and chewy," it was still "overall enjoyable." The ramen had a "good portion size" with a "rich and flavorful" broth. The eel roll was satisfactory but not particularly unique. This reviewer also enjoyed a Japanese soda with a marble. They noted that seating is limited, potentially leading to longer wait times during busy periods, but parking was plentiful and convenient.

In summary, Ziki Japanese Restaurant in Portage offers local users an exceptional Japanese dining experience. Known for its exemplary service, charming atmosphere, diverse and high-quality menu featuring items like sushi, ramen, tempura, and hibachi, and remarkable value, Ziki is a highly recommended establishment. While seating may be limited, the overwhelmingly positive reviews suggest that the food and overall experience are well worth a visit.

I found some positive reviews about this place on reddit so I decided to give it a try. I'm traveling from out of town and have dined at many different Japanese restaurants across the country. This is a family operated business. The service is exemplary. The menu is simple yet diverse. There is something here for everyone and everything on the menu is best in its class. If I ever find myself in the area again I will go out of my way to dine here. A+ service. A+ atmosphere. A+ food. We went overboard with three appetizers three entrees and two desserts for two people and still didn't break $100. This place offers an extremely high value at any price. This type of quality usually cost at least 50% more. I wish every Japanese restaurant across America could learn from Ziki. They really do set the standard here.

The food was good and very hot when I received it. The restaurant itself had a cute charm to it. The prices were reasonable. I went for lunch and there was only one other table of customers so it was pretty empty which was nice. For appetizers, we ordered: shrimp tempura and eel with avocado roll. For the entrees, we had beef ramon with creamy pork bone soup and hibachi new york strip. The steak was a little overcooked and chewy, but overall enjoyable. The ramen was a good portion size and the broth was rich and flavorful. The eel was good, but nothing that stuck out as different from any of eel roll from another restaurant. I also ordered a Japanese soda which was fun to drink with the glass marble inside. There were only 2 flavors available but the orange was good. There isn't much seating so during busy times I anticipate longer wait times. There was plenty of parking in a convenient location.

An amazing sushi place with great service. We went there for lunch given the high ratings of this place. We were not disappointed. The ambience is nice, although, I think they had incense stick light up which caused a minor smokiness in the air. The best part about their sushi is their batter for frying. We ordered 3 different rolls and all of them had some element of frying involved. Things were so crunchy that I absolutely loved it!! The service was very quick but it could be because there weren't many people there as it was a weekday. Their gypzas are also lovely. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because there was too much oil after the frying, especially in the gyozas.

Very nice little restaurant. We got there before 6 and it seemed like they didn't have much business but shortly after the place started filling up. Their sushi is fantastic. Some of the better I've had for the kalamazoo area. Pricing is also far better than what I expected. Service was prompt and kind. We will for sure be back. My adult children really enjoyed their bubble/bobba tea. My daughter even said she'd come back just for the tea.
