About Zhu Garden
Welcome to Zhu Garden, a Chinese restaurant located at 128 S Peters Rd, Knoxville, TN 37923, USA. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Zhu Garden likely offers a range of familiar Chinese dishes and services such as dine-in and takeout to the local Knoxville community. However, recent customer reviews available online express significant dissatisfaction with the food quality, which potential local users should carefully consider before choosing to dine here.
Details regarding the environment of Zhu Garden are not explicitly mentioned in the provided customer reviews. Typically, Chinese restaurants aim to provide a comfortable and often traditionally decorated space for diners. However, without specific comments on the ambiance or cleanliness of Zhu Garden, it is difficult to form an objective assessment of its environment based solely on the given information. Potential customers might need to look for additional online resources, such as photos or more reviews, to get a sense of the restaurant's atmosphere.
In terms of services, Zhu Garden likely offers standard Chinese restaurant services, including the option to dine in at their location on S Peters Rd and the convenience of ordering food for takeout. The friendly demeanor of the staff was noted by one reviewer, who mentioned that a "lady was super friendly and sweet." This suggests that the customer service aspect might be a positive attribute of Zhu Garden. However, the positive interaction with the staff was overshadowed by significant issues with the food itself, as detailed in the reviews.
The features of Zhu Garden, based on the critical customer feedback, unfortunately highlight significant shortcomings in the quality and preparation of their dishes. One reviewer described their experience as having the "worst sweet and sour chicken I have ever had." They elaborated by stating that it was "all fried outside, barely enough chicken to flavor," and likened the pieces to short, unflavorful "french fries." This extremely negative assessment of a popular Chinese dish should be a major concern for potential customers considering ordering it.
Another customer's experience was equally negative, leading them to declare it the "Worse chinese food ever." They provided a detailed breakdown of multiple dishes they ordered, all of which were unsatisfactory. The spring roll was described as "mushy inside," indicating a potential issue with its preparation or freshness. The chicken and broccoli lacked any sauce and was described as being in "pure water," suggesting a lack of proper cooking and flavor infusion. The wonton egg drop soup was also heavily criticized, with the broth being "thick like mucus" and "flavorless," and the wonton containing "More noodle than meat" and being "edible but not great." The shrimp in the shrimp lo mein was also reported to be "mushy," indicating a potential issue with the quality or cooking of the seafood.
Both reviewers expressed extreme disappointment with their meals and stated that they would not recommend Zhu Garden or return in the future. One customer explicitly mentioned that their experience was a "Waste of $40," highlighting the perceived poor value for money due to the substandard food quality. These consistent and strongly negative reviews regarding the food are critical indicators for potential local users.
The customer reviews for Zhu Garden paint a concerning picture regarding the quality of their food. Both reviewers experienced multiple dishes that were poorly prepared and lacked flavor or proper texture. The issues ranged from overly fried and under-filled sweet and sour chicken to mushy spring rolls and shrimp, watery chicken and broccoli, and unappetizing soup. The strong negative language used, such as "worst ever" and "waste of money," underscores the severity of their disappointment. While one reviewer noted friendly service, this positive aspect did not compensate for the significant problems with the food.
Given the consistency of the negative feedback focusing on the poor quality of various dishes, potential local users should be very cautious when considering Zhu Garden. The reviews do not offer any positive feedback on the food, which is the primary aspect of a restaurant experience. The issues described suggest potential problems with the kitchen's preparation methods, ingredient quality, or both.

Multiple dishes, including sweet and sour chicken, spring rolls, chicken and broccoli, wonton egg drop soup, and shrimp lo mein, were described as being of very low quality and lacking in flavor or proper texture. Typical Chinese restaurant, but worst sweet and sour chicken I have ever had. All fried outside, barely enough chicken to flavor. Like a french fry, but not as long. I’m boggled, definitely won’t order here again.
Lady was super friendly and sweet, but.... Worse chinese food ever. My spring roll was mushy inside. My chicken and broccoli wasn't in any kind of sauce, it was pure water. My wonton egg drop soup broth was thick like mucus. And flavorless. The wonton was edible but not great. More noodle than meat. The shrimp in my shrimp lo mein was mushy too. Very disappointed. Will not recommend or go back. Waste of $40
Visited for the first time since COVID started so it’s been a while. I had moo shu. I ordered shrimp but I got pork and ate it anyway because they were busy and I didn’t want to cause a fuss. The pancakes were ok, they were kind of thick compared to what I’m used to. My friend was with me and she liked her food. It was good, but I have had better moo shu other places. Overall, still good but they don’t come talk or really want people to sit in. I think they prefer carry out customers.
Do NOT order here for a try out this for locals to hit and miss. Sweet and sour chicken overcooked hard others chewy rewarmed oil balls. Orange chicken same way just drenched in sauce. Lo mein burnt and clumped all together…wonton soup just salt n water no onion no ginger just salt water. smh I have NEVER had no mess like this. This is absolute pathetic!
i love ordering takeout from here. the food is always hot and fresh. i would recommend going out of your comfort zone here and not getting the classic “american-chinese” food. they’re more authentic dishes are truly amazing. i adore their curry dishes and the mapo tofu is to die for if you want some spice. my partner swears by their pork fried rice and their pan fried dumplings are always a go-to as well !
