About Zest

Located at 957 Canton St, Roswell, GA 30075, USA, Zest is categorized as a Chinese restaurant. However, customer reviews indicate that it functions more as a bar offering drinks, sushi, and small plates. The atmosphere of the establishment and its location in a romantic area with high walkability are consistently highlighted as beautiful and stellar.

The service, on the other hand, has been described as below average and lacking attention to detail. Customers reported instances of non-alcoholic drinks being left empty for extended periods and the need to make repeated requests for assistance.

Feedback on the food is generally critical. While one reviewer found the food to be average, others were more negative. Specific dishes such as lamb and oysters were described as tough and flavorless, respectively. Even the ramen was considered mediocre. However, positive remarks were made about the cold beer and hot sake, suggesting that Zest might be a better destination for drinks.

One detailed review of "Zest Sushi and Small Plates" deemed it average at best, falling short of high-quality Japanese cuisine. While acknowledging an affordable price point and amiable service, the reviewer provided a detailed breakdown of several dishes, with ratings ranging from A- for the "Kiss of Death Roll" to F for the "Gyoza Dumplings." Many dishes, including the tempura veggie, fish and chips, tuna nigiri, salmon poke crunch, and a lychee limeade mocktail, received negative ratings, citing issues with flavor, texture, and overall quality. Despite the relatively low cost for a three-person meal (without alcohol), this reviewer stated they would not be returning for the food.

Overall, while Zest in Roswell boasts a beautiful atmosphere and location, particularly appealing for drinks, the food quality appears to be inconsistent and often disappointing. For those seeking a full Chinese or high-quality Japanese dining experience, there may be better options in the area. Zest might be more suitable for enjoying drinks and perhaps some appetizers at the bar.

The atmosphere was steller, the food was average, and the service was below average. The area and the dining atmosphere are beautiful. It's a very romantic area of town with a massive walk-score. Food left a bit to be desired. The lamb was tough, the oysters were flavorless, and the roman was mid; however, the beer was cold, and the sake was hot. Service lacked any attention to detail, and non-alcoholic drinks were left empty most of the meal, and we needed to ask for things several times before they were provided. Overall, for the price, there is much better sushi in the area. Great for drinks and maybe an app at the bar.

Zest Sushi and Small Plates is average at best, a far cry from high quality Japanese fare. From a strict culinary perspective, Zest deserves 2 stars, in my opinion. But when you factor in the affordable price tag and amiable service, 3 stars is more like it. Here is what we ate, in order of preference: Kiss of Death Roll (A-): Very flavorful, although not spicy at all Polynesian Pork Belly (B+): Nice seasoning, although we’ve had much better Mocktail – Mint Mule (B+): Very refreshing Butter Garlic Oysters (B): Decent Tempura Veggie (C+): Too soft, almost soggy Fish & Chips (C-): The fries were very good, but the fish was terrible (insipid, soggy) Tuna Nigiri (D+): I’ve had better grocery store nigiri Salmon Poke Crunch (D): Just bad poke. No flavor whatsoever Mocktail – Lychee Limeade (D-): Just no flavor, utterly forgettable Gyoza Dumplings (F): The worst gyozas ever. Limp and soggy On the positive side, we only spent $118 for a 3-person meal, before tipping (2 mocktails, water, 7 small plates, 1 larger entrée, no alcohol). We won’t be returning to Zest Sushi.

Zest is such an exquisite experience! From the service, to the array of menu options, you’ll be sure to be satisfied. Ashley was so pleasant to have as our waitress, so sweet and personable and made us feel welcome! Andrew the manager that night was very welcoming as well and made sure that we were taken care of. I’d never had sushi before coming here but am pleased to say it’s kept me coming back! There’s many delicious side dishes like the macaroni and cheese and the sliders were amazing.

We finally made it to Zest and wish it didn’t take us so long to get here! Delicious Asian small plates and sushi partnered with an assortment of sake and STELLAR service from the bartenders Allie and Adam to the General Manager Anthony. We tried the Pork Belly, Veggie Tempura, Bonzai Brussels, Lettuce Wraps and Roswell Roll. All of which met or exceeded our expectations! We will definitely be back to try some of their other dishes and to check out their other daily specials :)

The food and zest has always been delicious and amazing and the service and everyone who works. There are intentive and friendly. I was just there and they have done a beautiful redecoration of the venue with new colors chairs menu, decor and more. It's absolutely beautiful. Anthony, the general manager was here talking with diners to make sure we were having a great experience. If you haven't been before, I highly recommend you check it out.
