About Zen Asian Sushi Bar & Grill

Zen Asian Sushi Bar & Grill, located at 8354 Northfield Blvd, Denver, CO 80238, USA, offers a diverse menu that spans both Chinese and Japanese cuisine, providing a variety of options for local diners. Situated near the Northfield shopping area, it's a convenient spot for a meal before or after shopping or catching a movie.

A notable feature is their happy hour, during which customers have reported enjoying large portion sizes of items such as tempura chicken and shrimp, as well as lettuce wraps, all available on the happy hour menu. Ordering from the regular menu also yielded positive experiences with dishes like sesame chicken and honey walnut chicken. While one reviewer's expectation of the honey walnut chicken differed from what they were used to (specifically mentioning a lack of sweetness compared to a fast-food version), they still found it to be good and particularly enjoyed the mushrooms in the dish.

Customer reviews on other menu items were mixed. The Miso Soup was considered good, while their version of Tom Kha Kai soup was not well-received by one patron, who found it too salty and with an unfamiliar flavor. On the other hand, the Sushi rolls and Sashimi were reported to be good. The General Tso's Chicken with fried rice was also positively reviewed, with one customer stating they would order it again.

In terms of service, customers generally found it to be very attentive, with good timing and friendly staff, including the manager. Overall, while not described as an "amazing" experience by one reviewer, Zen Asian Sushi Bar & Grill is recommended as a good option in the area, especially if you're looking for something beyond the typical burger and fries. If you're near Northfield and seeking a restaurant that offers a blend of Chinese and Japanese dishes with happy hour specials and attentive service, Zen Asian Sushi Bar & Grill is worth considering. We came during happy hour and let me say the portion sizes are LARGE! We ended up having the tempura chicken and shrimp, lettuce wraps which were all on the happy hour menu. We did also order from the menu and got sesame chicken, and honey walnut chicken. Even if you stay with just the happy hour menu you'll definitely get full. The honey walnut chicken wasn't what I expected (maybe cause I was comparing it to panda express honey walnut shrimp and this dish lacked sweetness which was on me for comparing the two) but it was still good and I loved the mushrooms. A great eatery spot if you're doing some shopping at northfield.

It was a nice experience but not AMAZING. It is a good option for a decent meal before a movie. We had Miso Soup(good)and their version of Tom Kha Kai(not good) it was way too salty and had a different flavor than we are used to(my wife gets it everywhere we go). The Sushi roll was good and Sashimi was as well. I had The General Lee's(Tso's) chicken with fried rice and it was pretty good, I would order it again. Our service was very attentive, the timing was good and he was very nice as was the manager that helped us towards the end. Overall, I would recommend it if you're in the area and want a different option than just a burger and fries.

I love this place. The food is well prepared and priced for the generous portions. I've never had a bad meal. The sushi chefs prepare with care and affection for the craft. Its so much better than the over sweetened and salty stuff you get from the big chain down the street. The staff are always engaged. This is either because they are selective of who works here or the manager is so involved with the business. There are a ton of places to eat in Northfield, but Zen is my regular stop.

I’ve been here several times and it’s always on point. I get sashimi every time and sometimes some extra a la carte sushi like unagi, yellowtail, or tobiko. It is always fresh and nicely sized cuts. Warm house sake is a perfect complement. Also fresh shiso leaves are fantastic. The service is always spot on as well. Whether sitting at a booth in Lorena’s section or being served at the bar with Dailyn or Jenn, I’m always taken care of. I’ll keep coming back because of the great service and fresh fish!

Have been here multiple times and it isn’t my favorite place for sushi but it is okay. Usually always get green mussels, potstickers, salmon nigiri, spicy scallop nigiri, Hot Lover’s roll and Banzai roll. Usually order a michelada or a Moscow mule for a drink as last time I tried something else I didn’t like it.
