About Z & Y Restaurant

Located in the heart of San Francisco's bustling Chinatown at 655 Jackson St, Z & Y Restaurant has established itself as a must-visit Chinese Restaurant for both locals and visitors alike. Garnering recognition, including recommendations from the esteemed Michelin Guide multiple times over the years, Z & Y Restaurant offers a dining experience characterized by flavorful dishes, efficient service, and a clean environment. Its popularity is evident from customer reviews, which frequently highlight it as a local favorite.

One of the standout features of Z & Y Restaurant, based on customer feedback, is the consistently high quality of its food across a range of dishes. The Orange Chicken and Steamed Pork Dumplings are particularly praised, with one young reviewer declaring them their favorite part of the meal. This suggests that Z & Y Restaurant excels in both classic and dim sum offerings, catering to a variety of palates.

Beyond these highlights, other dishes have also received positive mentions. The Mu Shu Pork and Vegetable Delight were specifically loved by other members of a visiting family, indicating that the menu extends beyond just a few star items to offer a broader range of satisfying and well-prepared Chinese cuisine. This variety makes Z & Y Restaurant a suitable choice for groups with diverse preferences.

The service at Z & Y Restaurant is consistently described as "fantastic" and "quick." Efficient service is a significant advantage, especially for those looking for a satisfying meal without a long wait. This suggests that the restaurant is well-managed and attentive to the needs of its customers, contributing to a positive overall dining experience.

The cleanliness of the restaurant is another aspect that customers have noted positively. A clean dining environment enhances the comfort and enjoyment of the meal, and this is clearly a priority at Z & Y Restaurant. This attention to hygiene likely contributes to its appeal and status as a recommended establishment.

One dish that warrants specific mention is the Dan Dan Noodles. While praised for their flavor, customers are advised that they are "a bit spicy." One reviewer with a high tolerance for spice still noted the significant heat level. Therefore, while the flavor profile is reportedly excellent, individuals sensitive to spice should exercise caution or inquire about the level of spiciness before ordering. For those who enjoy a fiery kick, the Dan Dan Noodles are presented as a flavorful and authentic option.

Customer experiences indicate that Z & Y Restaurant is indeed a popular spot. One reviewer who visited on a Saturday night mentioned only having to wait about 20 minutes for a table, despite the restaurant appearing "fairly popular." This relatively short wait time, even on a weekend night, suggests efficient seating management and a high volume of satisfied customers who are willing to wait for a table.

The fact that the Michelin Guide has recommended Z & Y Restaurant multiple times over the years speaks volumes about the quality and consistency of its food. Michelin recommendations are a significant indicator of culinary excellence, suggesting that Z & Y Restaurant adheres to high standards in its preparation, ingredients, and overall dining experience. This endorsement adds to its credibility and appeal for both local gourmands and discerning visitors.

Further insights into the menu can be gleaned from another review, which mentioned ordering dumplings, egg fried rice, and twice-cooked pork. The rice and dumplings were described as "excellent," reinforcing the positive feedback on these staple Chinese dishes. The twice-cooked pork was mostly well-received, although a minor inconsistency was noted with a few pieces being dry or less seasoned. This suggests that while the majority of dishes are consistently good, there might be occasional minor variations.

Overall, the customer reviews paint a picture of Z & Y Restaurant as a reliable and highly regarded Chinese Restaurant in San Francisco's Chinatown. Its strengths lie in its delicious and well-prepared food, quick and friendly service, and clean environment. The Michelin recommendations further underscore its culinary merit and status as a local favorite.

Z&Y is a must for anyone who lives in San Fransisco or is visiting! My favorite part of the meal was the orange chicken and the steamed pork dumplings. The food came quick and the restaurant was so clean. One thing is the Dan Dan noodles are a bit spicy. If you can handle spice, get them. The flavor is good but the spice is high. My family is visiting and it has been our favorite restaurant. (Above is a genuine review by my 11 year old son - the rest of us also loved the mu shu pork and vegetable delight, and agree that the service was fantastic. Definitely recommend to anyone!)

We were in the area and saw the restaurant was fairly popular. Turns out it's a local favorite. The Michelin guide has recommended the places a few times over the years. We ordered dumplings, egg fried rice and twice cooked pork. The rice and dumpling were excellent. The twice cooked pork was mostly good, just a few pieces that were dry or tasted less seasoned than the rest. Overall the experience was great. We came on Saturday night and only had to wait about 20 minutes.

This restaurant exceeded all expectations! The moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with a welcoming atmosphere and the aromatic scent of traditional Chinese spices. The staff was incredibly attentive, patiently explaining dishes and even suggesting their personal favorites. The food was simply phenomenal—each dish was a masterpiece of flavor and presentation. The [signature dish, e.g., Peking duck/Xiao Long Bao/Mapo Tofu] was perfectly cooked, with crispy skin and tender meat (or rich, savory sauce, etc.). The [appetizer/dessert, e.g., dumplings/mango pudding] was equally impressive, fresh and full of authentic taste. Portions were generous, and every bite felt like a culinary journey. What made the experience truly special was the balance of authenticity and thoughtful service. Whether you're craving classic comfort food or exploring regional specialties, this place delivers. We’ll definitely be back—highly recommend for anyone who loves genuine Chinese cuisine!

I was visiting town for a business conference and stumbled upon Z&Y while browsing china town. It was absolutely delicious and the service was outstanding. I ordered the Kung Pow Chicken and my coworker got the cumin beef and fried rice. Our pot of jasmine tea was warm, fragrant and perfect for the weather. If you’re looking for a cozy spot and tasty food, please make this your stop.

Love the vibes here. The service is on point as well and even though the duck was sold out, I had other recommendations tailored for me. Even though it’s so crowded, they weren’t rushing and still checked in on each table now and then if they like what they had and if they needed anything else. I got the 紅油抄手 which was legendary. The numbness comes after the spice and you just yearn to eat more and more of it! 酸菜魚 was really great as well there’s so many ingredients and eating this felt so much like what I have back in Singapore! The dessert was so good too! So much texture and is a good sweet treat to end the meal with:) HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO COME HERE WHEN U ARE IN SF!
