Customer Reviews
Upon arrival our party realized we made a reservation at the other Z&Y. However, the host was able to help us out and get us seated as quickly as possible before the kitchen took their last orders. The presentation of the food was attractive. Some of the standout dishes were the stir-fried crab, cumin lamb and the almond cream dessert. Loved how the crab & lamb were just sizzling on the hot plate when they came out! The soup dumplings were also a solid order with awesome texture and flavor, but the cumin lamb was my favorite. If you can handle lots of Szechuan peppers then you’ll love the crab as it’s quite numbing. The mung bean flour noodle in that dish was the intriguing part for me with their unique texture and color. There were subtle areas of service that could be improved. For example, leaving the bottle of water on table so that we didn’t have empty glasses. Secondly, there was a server that was rushing to drop the hot plate for the crab and spilled our sauce for soup dumplings. Other than that they were efficient and gave us great recommendations and stayed on top of waters for most of the dinner. Our favorite part of the experience was our server, Jake! He had told us he opened the location and was at the other Z&Y for 10 years. Jake was great with recommendations and had a fun sense of humor ;) He let us see and use his POS, as we were needing out since we’re all hospitality professionals. He introduced us to Chef Han, and we had an awesome time getting to know him and learn about his journey. It was a memorable experience, and well definitely be back for the Peking Duck!
We were lucky enough to get a last minute reservation. Coming from Hong Kong, it’s safe to say this is truly an authentic culinary experience. It’s recommended to pre-book the peking duck, and its 100% worth it! We’re looking forward to coming back.
We had such a good duck time at this restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing. The aroma. The taste. Very traditional. The ambiance was good. Jenny, our waitress, even showed us how to eat the duck in a traditional way. Catering was so kind and nice that made the whole experience so much better. Half duck options were very good for couples. Worth the price.
The Chicken with Explosive Chili Pepper lived up to its name and made my lips and tongue tingle the entire time I ate it. If you’re not prepared to breathe dragon fire after eating this, I’d stay away from this dish. But I think someone who ate this firey chicken must’ve taken a few dragon fire breaths on the duck, because the duck was pretty dry. Otherwise, everything was great! Chicken with Explosive Chili Powder > Dan Dan Noodles > Almond Tofu > Peking Duck
The roast duck here is tender with crispy skin, sliced expertly at the table. Great flavor with pancakes and sauces. Classic Beijing vibe, though a bit crowded. Friendly service and worth trying once, especially for visitors. Jenny Z is supper sweat
