About Yum Yum Good Chinese Restaurant

Yum Yum Good Chinese Restaurant is located at 5612 Patterson Ave in Richmond, Virginia. As a Chinese restaurant serving the local community, they can be contacted at (804) 673-9226 or +1 804-673-9226. Recent online customer reviews offer contrasting opinions on the dining experience, with one praising the food and service, while another reports significant issues with food quality and customer service.

One reviewer had a positive experience at Yum Yum Good Chinese Restaurant. They described the Chinese food as "great" and specifically enjoyed the Wanton soup, noting that the restaurant provides "great crunchy noodles" as an accompaniment. For their main courses, the reviewer's wife had Garlic Chicken with broccoli (a dish apparently not listed on the regular menu, suggesting a willingness to accommodate custom requests), and the reviewer themselves ordered the Happy Family dish, both of which they found to be "very good." Furthermore, this customer described the restaurant's ambiance as "very nice" and the staff as "accommodating," indicating a pleasant environment and helpful service during their visit.

In stark contrast, another customer reported a highly negative experience. Their primary complaint centered around the preparation of the egg foo young, which they stated was "drowned" in gravy. This reviewer expressed surprise at this presentation, noting that in their extensive experience ordering egg foo young from various Chinese restaurants over many years, the gravy is always served on the side, allowing the customer to control the amount used. They found the heavily gravied dish to "look horrible" upon opening the container and stated that they would "not recommend this place" based on this experience alone.

Adding to their negative experience, this customer also reported issues with their order and the restaurant's handling of the situation. They claimed to have ordered one egg foo young, but their online order somehow registered two. The restaurant was reportedly "not willing to give a refund" for the extra, incorrect item. Furthermore, the rice was described as "disgusting like old rice," indicating a significant problem with the quality of a staple dish. Despite these initial disappointments, the customer had intended to try other items the following day, including wonton soup, Kong paw shrimp, egg roll, and the extra egg foo young. However, they ultimately "trashed it all," suggesting that the poor quality of the initial dishes had tainted their perception of the entire order. The reviewer expressed a desire to post a photo of the discarded food but noted that the option was unavailable. They concluded by reiterating that the food was "terrible" and that their negative experience with the first egg foo young led them to discard the entire order on the same day it was received.

Considering these two recent reviews, Yum Yum Good Chinese Restaurant presents a mixed and somewhat concerning picture. While one customer enjoyed their meal, praising the Wanton soup, custom-ordered Garlic Chicken, and Happy Family dish, as well as the nice atmosphere and accommodating staff, another customer had a severely negative experience. The issues raised in the negative review, including the unusual and unappealing preparation of the egg foo young, the poor quality of the rice (described as "old"), and the unwillingness of the restaurant to rectify an apparent ordering error, are significant concerns for potential customers.

The discrepancy in the preparation of a standard dish like egg foo young (with gravy poured over it instead of served separately) suggests a potential deviation from common practices in Chinese restaurants, which may not appeal to all customers. The reported quality issue with the rice is also a major concern, as rice is a fundamental component of many Chinese meals. The negative interaction regarding the incorrect order and the lack of a refund further points to potential shortcomings in customer service.

The positive review does offer some reassurance about the potential for good food and service at Yum Yum Good Chinese Restaurant. The willingness to prepare a non-menu item (Garlic Chicken with broccoli) indicates some flexibility and a customer-focused approach, at least in one instance. The description of the restaurant as "very nice" suggests a pleasant environment for those dining in.

However, the severity of the negative feedback, particularly regarding food quality and the handling of order errors, cannot be ignored. Potential customers may want to exercise caution and consider the possibility of encountering inconsistencies in food preparation and customer service based on these contrasting experiences. There is no information provided about any special features of the restaurant or any ongoing promotional offers.

For local users in Richmond, VA, considering Yum Yum Good Chinese Restaurant, the available reviews present a dilemma. While there is evidence of the restaurant being capable of providing great Chinese food and accommodating service, there is also a significant report of terrible food quality and poor customer service. Potential customers might want to weigh these contrasting experiences and perhaps consider trying a small order initially to assess the current standards of food preparation and service for themselves. The specific issues raised about the egg foo young and rice quality in the negative review warrant particular attention.

In conclusion, Yum Yum Good Chinese Restaurant in Richmond, VA, has received both positive and strongly negative feedback in recent online reviews. While some customers have enjoyed the food, nice atmosphere, and accommodating staff, others have reported significant problems with food preparation, quality (specifically the egg foo young and rice), and customer service regarding order issues. This inconsistency suggests that the experience at Yum Yum Good Chinese Restaurant may vary considerably. Potential customers should be aware of these contrasting views when making their decision.

Great Chinese food. We started off with great Wanton soup (they provide great crunchy noodles). My wife had Garlic Chicken with broccoli (not on menu) and I had the Happy Family both very good. The place is very nice and the staff accommodating.

I have never seen a Chinese place that drown gravy over egg foo young. The gravy is always on the side with the option of how much you want.i have ordered egg foo young many years and never seen the option of putting gravy on egg foo young or on the side because it’s always came separate and you pour what want. This place drowned the dish. Look horrible when we open the container.. I would not recommend this place. I order 1 egg foo young and somehow the app picked up two and the restaurant was not willing to give a refund. The rice was disgusting like old rice. I thought we would try to eat the wonton soup, Kong paw shrimp, egg roll and the extra egg foo young the day. The next day but we trashed it all. I would love to post a photo that I took of the garbage but the option is not available. Terrible food. However we were turn off from the 1st egg foo young and trashed it all on Sunday.

Excellent. Each crab Rangoon has me over the moon to the tune of the delicious Rangoon filling. The doughnuts are perfect pampered pillows, each lovingly primped with sugar, every orb a galaxy of the miraculous class of reaction known as maillard.

First time we have ordered from here and it was delicious. Best Chinese food in the RVA! This will be our go to place for Chinese food.

My dining partner and I decided to try this restaurant, rather than drive a longer distance to Peter Chang’s or Full Kee for takeout. We selected the steamed dumplings, fresh broccoli with garlic sauce, and Szechuan beef. The dishes were well prepared. Pretty bland overall even though we asked for ‘hot’. One plus… the restaurant added three packets of Chinese mustard to our order without asking. This is the first time I’ve had Chinese mustard added to a Chinese takeout order in about three years. You would think that this stuff is like gold with how stingy most places are. Yum Yum just fine, unfortunately. Learned our lesson and will make the drive next time we get Chinese take out.
