About Yukun Shaobing
Yukun Shaobing is a Chinese restaurant located within one of the mini food halls inside Landmark Quest Mall, situated at 136-21 Roosevelt Ave # A1 in the bustling neighborhood of Flushing, Queens, New York City. Specializing in shaobing, a traditional northern Chinese flatbread, Yukun Shaobing offers a unique culinary experience for those seeking authentic Chinese snacks and light meals. As a Chinese restaurant focused on this specific type of baked good, it provides a variety of both sweet and savory fillings, catering to a wide range of palates. Shaobing is known for its flaky, layered texture and often juicy filling, making it a popular breakfast item and snack in northern China.
According to customer reviews, Yukun Shaobing stands out as a purveyor of some of the best shaobing available in Flushing's vibrant food scene. One reviewer described it as a "small stall" offering a taste of traditional northern Chinese cuisine. The shaobing itself is characterized as a baked and layered flatbread that can be optionally stuffed with various sweet or savory fillings. The texture is noted to be flaky, juicy, and dense, providing a satisfying bite. This description aligns with the traditional characteristics of well-made shaobing.
Two of the savory options that received high praise are the black pepper beef shaobing, priced at $4, and the spicy cumin lamb shaobing, priced at $5. Both were described as juicy, with the lamb version being exceptionally so ("extraaa juicy"). The flavorful fillings made them a "perfect snack on a cold winter day," and one reviewer even likened them to "little hand warmers" during a snow day visit. This suggests that the warmth and richness of the shaobing make them particularly appealing in colder weather.
Yukun Shaobing boasts a diverse range of other filling options, indicating a broad menu beyond just the beef and lamb. These include chicken, spicy squid, pork, red bean, shrimp & corn, and spicy tofu. This variety ensures that customers with different dietary preferences or cravings can find something to enjoy. The availability of both meat and vegetarian options, as well as sweet and savory choices (like the red bean), makes Yukun Shaobing a versatile spot for a quick and tasty bite.
However, it's important to note some practical considerations mentioned in the reviews. Firstly, Yukun Shaobing operates as a stall within a food hall and does not offer seating. This implies that it is primarily a takeout establishment, catering to those looking for food on the go. Secondly, customers are advised to "beware of the hot bursting juice" when biting into the shaobing, indicating that the fillings are indeed very juicy and can be quite hot, requiring caution while eating. Lastly, it is mentioned that customers should "don't forget to bring cash," suggesting that cash may be the preferred or perhaps the only method of payment at this stall.
Another customer ordered three different types of shaobing and found them to be "very delicious." Their favorite was the "3 meat stuffing," indicating another savory option available at Yukun Shaobing. However, this reviewer also provided a more critical perspective regarding the greasiness of the shaobing. They noted that the extreme greasiness became particularly apparent upon reheating the buns at home in the oven, describing them as an "absolute gut bomb." While they awarded 5 stars for flavor, they deducted 2 stars for the excessive grease. This feedback suggests that while the shaobing is flavorful, the high oil content might be a concern for some individuals.
Based on the available information, the environment of Yukun Shaobing is that of a small stall within a food hall (Landmark Quest Mall). This implies a casual and likely bustling atmosphere typical of such settings, with no dedicated seating for the stall itself. The focus is on quick service and takeout. The services offered are primarily the preparation and sale of shaobing with a variety of fillings. The staff at the stall are likely focused on efficient order taking and food preparation for customers on the go.
Features of Yukun Shaobing include its specialization in authentic northern Chinese shaobing, a diverse menu of sweet and savory fillings, and the reported juiciness and flavor of its offerings. The reasonable prices mentioned for some of the shaobing options (e.g., $4 for black pepper beef, $5 for spicy cumin lamb) also contribute to its appeal. However, potential drawbacks include the lack of seating, the need for cash payment, and the reported extreme greasiness of some of the shaobing, which might be a concern for health-conscious individuals.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided customer reviews for Yukun Shaobing. As a small stall within a food hall, they may not have extensive marketing campaigns or publicly advertised promotions. Local users interested in any potential discounts or special offers are advised to visit their location within Landmark Quest Mall at 136-21 Roosevelt Ave # A1, Flushing, NY 11354, USA, or call them at (929) 300-9118 or +1 929-300-9118 to inquire directly.
In conclusion, Yukun Shaobing offers a taste of authentic northern Chinese cuisine through its delicious and varied selection of shaobing. Located within Landmark Quest Mall in Flushing, it is a convenient takeout option for those seeking a flavorful and satisfying snack or light meal. Popular choices like the spicy cumin lamb and the three meat stuffing are praised for their taste, although customers should be aware of the potential for hot, juicy fillings and the possibility of extreme greasiness in some varieties. The need for cash payment and the lack of seating are also practical considerations. For local users looking to explore traditional Chinese flatbread with a range of fillings, Yukun Shaobing is a noteworthy stop within Flushing's diverse culinary landscape.

This is perhaps some of the best shaobing found in a small stall down one of the mini food halls in Flushing. Shaobing is a traditional Chinese flatbread in northern Chinese cuisine that's baked and layered, optionally stuffed with sweet or savory fillings. It's a common breakfast item that’s flaky, juicy and dense. We got the black pepper beef shoabing ($4) and the spicy cumin lamb shoabing ($5) here at Yukun Shaobing, located inside Landmark Quest Mall. Both options were juicy, but the lamb one was extraaa juicy - delicious, a perfect snack on a cold winter day. We visited on a snow day, so these were like little hand warmers. Yukun Shaobing also has a whole bunch of other filling options such as chicken, spicy squid, pork, red bean, shrimp & corn, and spicy tofu. No seating for this stall. Beware of the hot bursting juice when you bite in and don’t forget to bring cash!
Ordered 3 different types. Very delicious. My favorite was the 3 meat stuffing. It's only once you bring these back home and reheat (baked in oven) that you truly appreciate how greasy these are. An absolute gut bomb. 5 stars for flavor minus 2 for extreme grease.
This tiny food stall at the Landmark Quest Mall on Roosevelt Avenue is a hidden gem of Flushing! I tried the Lamb Cumin Shaobing and it was delicious! They even have space for sitting to enjoy the meal. The food was prepared earlier so not hot. I asked her to heat it up for me which she gladly did and it was ready very fast! It was the right amount of juicy and flavorful, without being so juicy or oily that it drips on you when you eat. That’s the perfect balance! I’m so glad I tried this. Now I know another great spot in Flushing!
Wanted to try out these buns! We got two different types (one was the 3 meat one and the other was the vegetarian/vegetable one — honestly forgot the name but I believe it had chives or spinach and egg). It was super flavorful and I would def get it again!
I watched a YouTube video of how the owner started her business, was always curious how the savory fire grill buns taste like. Was in Flushing for an errand and made my way there. The store front is inside the Landmark Quest Mall, just pass the famous steam rice roll place; Yukun a small cube of space that fits just the owner and her partner, not a sit and eat place. the fire grill bun comes in savory w meat and vegetarian(vegan) options. I ordered these to go, and hours passed until I had my first one. I was disappointed since the bun got soggy in the bag. Next day I take the time to toasted them 15min at 350F degrees, and I was blown away. These grill buns, has crisp yet tender outer dough shell, savory filling not overly salted to preserve the ingredient natural flavors. It’s fire grilled for extra “crumb” baguette like texture(yet very tender) and it’s a good freeze and eat later type of food. Highly recommend. pork w dried salted vege Shredded meat w chopped Vege Red bean filling(not sweeten) Cabbage and tofu Spicy tofu
