Yu's Mandarin

Stopped here for dinner a few weeks ago. It’s been on our list, and we finally checked it off. Bottom line: the food was just okay. The dishes were a bit saltier than expected, which seemed to hide some of the freshness of the ingredients. By the end of the meal, we were both parched and felt like we needed a gallon of water to recover. Service was solid, though. Our server was attentive, and everything came out correctly. The robots delivering the food were a nice touch and kind of amusing. As for the atmosphere, the interior was a bit outdated and looked like it was starting to show its age. I used the bathroom, and it wasn’t the cleanest. Also, it was ridiculously hot in there. Hopefully, just a malfunction, but who knows. I think this will be a one-and-done for us. I’m not sure if we’ll try the other locations, but we’ll see.

Visited this store many times. Today we went there with 6 adults after Christmas. Hot food was OK. appetizers we ordered Five Spices Beef and Cold Marinated Squid Salad. They were awful. The Cold Marinated Squid Salad was not seasoning, the Five Spices Beef feels like from frozen. When a waiter came to ask if everything is OK, we brought a notice to him. The waiter showed a very rude behaver. No apologize to the food and the bad service. We we asked to talk to the manager or owner, said no one was in the store. It was a bad total experience. Feel sorry to the owner having a team like this.

Got carryout from here for Xmas 2024 (order at least a week in advance). Fried Rice, app sampler, beef w snow peas, sweet and sour pork. Everything was amazingly good and our order was perfect, which is especially impressive on Christmas eve. Pickup was ready in 5 minutes, everyone was nice and professional. There's a lot of options for Chinese food in Vernon Hills/Libertyville/Mundelein, but Yu's is where we will be going from now on.

We had 7 adults and 1 baby. All the high chairs (4) were being used by one party so we had none. The food was excellent but every time we have gone there the service stunk. This time it was the worst all of us had experienced. It took 45 minutes to take our order. Then the waiter ordered one item wrong. When we pointed it out, they said they would remake it but had to pay for both. We just canceled it and when we wanted it removed from the bill, we had to talk to the manager. He removed it and said the waiter would have it taken out of his pay. Since we had a party of 8, they charged us for the tip (20%) automatically. We were ignored through the whole time because the waiter knew the tip was added to the bill. If you want to go there, I would suggest carry out because that way you don't have to put up with the worst service ever given in a restaurant. We will NEVER go back.

When I walked in, I was greeted with a smile and the ambience is amazing and clean. I definitely had a hard time choosing from the menu because of how good everything looks. I had the Yu's noodle soup as it's their bedt seller and I highly recommend it . The soup definitely satisfied my craving for something hot and spicy in this cold weather. The service was impeccable. They knew I was full and got the to go box before I could even call them. Even helped to neatly pack them. Will definitely visit this place again with my family.
