Young's Chinese Restaurant distinguishes itself as a "hidden gem" according to one satisfied customer, suggesting that it might be an unassuming place that offers unexpectedly high-quality food. Specializing in the local St. Louis interpretation of Chinese cuisine, Young's is presented as a go-to option for those seeking an authentic taste of the region's Asian culinary traditions, especially for individuals staying in the vicinity of the airport.
Based on the positive feedback from patrons, Young's Chinese Restaurant is recognized for its "very good quality food and customer experience as far as Saint Louis Chinese restaurants go." This indicates that it stands out favorably within the local Chinese dining scene. A key feature highlighted by a reviewer is that Young's operates as a "made to order restaurant." This implies that dishes are prepared fresh upon ordering, allowing for potential customization and ensuring that the food is served hot and according to individual preferences.
The same reviewer provides important advice for customers: "if you don't request extra veggies, meat or sauce you get the normal portions and seasoning." This suggests that while the standard portions are satisfactory for most, customers who prefer more of certain ingredients should specify this when placing their order. The reviewer also addresses a common misconception, noting that "Many people expect it (the order) to be perfect without telling the wok chef anything. That's just doesn't help." This emphasizes the importance of clear communication and providing specific instructions to ensure the meal is prepared to one's liking.
Young's Chinese Restaurant is praised for making "very flavorful delicious dishes." Specific menu items that the reviewer enjoys include their "fried rice, egg foo young, and lo mein chow mein," indicating that these are likely popular and well-executed choices. This variety suggests that Young's offers a range of classic St. Louis style Chinese favorites that are worth trying.
One reviewer shared a personal anecdote regarding their father's experience, mentioning that "the protein is not tender enough for him." They provide context, noting that their father is 82 years old, has no dentures, and needs to chop his meals up. This feedback, while specific to an individual's dietary needs, offers an objective observation about the texture of the protein used in some dishes. It might be a consideration for other diners with similar needs or preferences for very tender meats.
Addressing the current economic climate, the reviewer acknowledges that "The price of everything in the food industry has gone up." However, they conclude that "Young's is worth the price as of right now," suggesting that the quality and overall experience justify the cost. This implies that Young's offers a good value proposition to its customers.
The reviewer ends with a strong recommendation: "Please give them a try, even if just visiting Saint Louis near the airport." This reinforces the initial sentiment of Young's being a "hidden gem" and a worthwhile dining option, particularly for travelers staying close to the airport who are looking for authentic local Chinese food.

Good food! Beware cash only
Was so excited to know my favorite chop suey open back up, but it's not the same family new management using the same name. I got ham fried rice I usually get hiccups when I reheat the rice the next day no matter who the rice from however soon as I start eating I got them making me believe the rice was not freshly cooked but reheated some pieces was hard. My chicken wing was not the batter wings young sold it's lightly breaded. Don't get me wrong it not nasty, but it's definitely not the young chop suey I'm use to. They also accept credit card which made me ask was it the same owner and he said no.
