About Yong Moon Lu
Welcome to Yong Moon Lu, a highly regarded Chinese restaurant situated in Rowland Heights, California. Located at 19240 Colima Rd, Rowland Heights, CA 91748, USA, Yong Moon Lu has garnered significant praise from local users for its exceptional food quality, generous portions, and efficient service. As a prominent establishment in the Chinese Restaurant category, Yong Moon Lu offers a delightful culinary experience that seems to blend Chinese and Korean influences, as suggested by some of its popular dishes.
One of the standout features of Yong Moon Lu, based on customer feedback, is the care taken in packaging food for takeout. Customers have specifically mentioned that even fried items, such as the sweet and sour pork, remain remarkably crispy upon arrival at home due to thoughtful packaging that prevents them from becoming soggy. This attention to detail in their takeout service indicates a commitment to ensuring that customers enjoy the same high quality of food whether dining in or taking away.
Among the highly recommended dishes at Yong Moon Lu is the jjajangmyeon, a popular Korean-Chinese noodle dish featuring bouncy noodles coated in a rich, savory black bean sauce with onions and meat. Customers have praised the strong flavor of the sauce and the satisfying texture of the noodles, making it a must-try for those familiar with or curious about this dish.
The sweet and sour pork at Yong Moon Lu also receives high accolades for its exceptional crispiness. Served with a thick, flavorful sweet and sour sauce on the side, this dish allows diners to control the amount of sauce, ensuring the pork retains its delightful crunchiness. This careful preparation distinguishes it as a favorite among patrons, with one reviewer even suggesting it might be better than what is typically their preferred version of this classic dish.
Another popular choice is the shrimp fried rice, noted for its fragrant aroma and generous amount of shrimp. A unique recommendation from a satisfied customer is to request a side of jjajang sauce to eat with the fried rice, creating an interesting and flavorful combination that highlights the Korean-Chinese fusion aspect of the menu.
Yong Moon Lu is described by one enthusiastic reviewer as "the best," with a desire to visit daily if possible. This level of praise underscores the restaurant's strong appeal within the local community. A particularly lauded dish is the yangjang pi, a cold, spicy seafood salad with mustard dressing. This reviewer considered it the best they had ever tasted, highlighting the perfect level of spice from the mustard. The fact that it remained delicious as leftovers for days (due to the large portions) further attests to its quality and value.
In addition to these dishes, the fried chicken at Yong Moon Lu has also garnered positive feedback, with one customer finding it even more enjoyable than the typically favored sweet and sour pork. This suggests that the restaurant excels in various categories beyond just noodles and rice dishes.
Despite being full from their meal, customers still thoroughly enjoyed the jjajangmyeon and jjampong (a spicy seafood noodle soup), indicating that the quality of these dishes is consistently high. The complimentary candied sweet potato served as a dessert at the end of the meal was described as "absolutely delightful," with the reviewer wishing it were available for purchase. The sweetness level was noted as being "not too sweet," which is considered a significant compliment in Asian cuisine, suggesting a well-balanced and enjoyable flavor profile.
The service at Yong Moon Lu is consistently praised as "extremely fast, helpful, and very hard working." This efficiency and attentiveness from the staff contribute significantly to the positive dining experience. Customers feel well-cared for and appreciate the prompt service, especially given the restaurant's popularity.
Due to its popularity, Yong Moon Lu often experiences long wait times, particularly during peak hours. The advice from a regular customer is to "try to go early" to avoid the rush. However, they also note that the food is "worth the wait," indicating that the quality of the dining experience justifies the potential inconvenience of waiting for a table.
Parking at Yong Moon Lu can be somewhat challenging, as the parking lot is described as "small-ish." Customers are advised to look for alternative parking options on the street, especially during busy times. This is a practical tip for local users planning to dine at the restaurant.
In summary, Yong Moon Lu in Rowland Heights is a Chinese restaurant that has earned a strong reputation for its delicious Korean-Chinese cuisine, generous portions, and fast, helpful service. Popular dishes include the jjajangmyeon, crispy sweet and sour pork, fragrant shrimp fried rice, and the highly praised yangjang pi. Customers also rave about the fried chicken and the complimentary candied sweet potato dessert. While the restaurant can get very busy, leading to potential wait times, and parking might be limited, the quality of the food and service make it a worthwhile destination for local users seeking a satisfying and flavorful meal. The positive feedback on their takeout packaging also makes Yong Moon Lu a reliable option for enjoying their dishes at home.

Everything was packaged very nicely for takeout! They didn’t close the packaging for the fried pork all the way so everything was still so crispy when we arrived at home. Jjajangmyeon: noodles are bouncy, sauce is strong savory black bean flavor with onions and meat inside. Sweet and Sour Pork: so crispy with a side of thick sweet and sour sauce. Shrimp Fried Rice: very fragrant, lots of shrimp. Ask for a side of jjajang sauce and eat it with the fried rice!
Yong moon lu is the best. I would go everyday if I could! The yangjang pi was the best I’ve ever had with just enough spice from the mustard. It was delicious as leftovers too (the portions were huge - we had leftovers for days). The fried chicken was really good too. Even better than the sweet and sour pork, which is typically my favorite. We were so full but still enjoyed the jjajangmyeon and jjampong. The candied sweet potato they gave at the end as a free dessert was absolutely delightful. I wish they sold it! It’s so good. Not too sweet (the best Asian compliment). The staff are extremely fast, helpful, and very hard working. We got great service. Can’t wait to go again! Try to go early because they have a huge wait but.. it’s also worth the wait. Parking lot is small-ish so find parking elsewhere on the street
This place offers a great variety of Korean cuisine. The staff are very friendly and professional, always quick to attend to our needs. We especially loved the Korean fried shrimp toast which had a sweet and tangy flavor that my family loved. The portions sizes are large and our family of five ordered eight dishes and we finished a majority of them because it was so delicious. At the end of the meal,we even received a complimentary honey glazed sweet potato dessert.
In looking for a replacement for New Harden down the street, I came across Young Moon for Jajang noodles. Not only do they have traditional Jajang but also offer a seafood and ground pork version. The sauce was good although I like a little more soy sauce and pepper. The noodles are the star. Although hand made but not hand cut, the noodles were very good. I gobbled the noodles up and had remaining sauce. I was offered a bowl of white rice for my remaining sauce and still had sauce to take home. So yummy. Eating alone, I couldn’t try more items but the menu looked extensive. Next time, more noodles and maybe seafood. Update; came back for another dish and settled on the lunch combo. Orange chicken and Jajang noodles. Since I already had the noodles and enjoyed them, I should have gotten something else. However the orange chicken was very flavorful. I would have liked less sauce but it was piping hot and I love that Rice with the leftover Jajang sauce is a must. My only criticism is the price. Although the Jajang large portion was $17 ( perfectly acceptable), the lunch combos were all $22 which I thought was a little high. Also, after a quick peruse of the menu, many dishes were $20 and some were $30. I didn’t order that type of dish but for $20, the portion better be huge! Still enjoyed my flavorful meal. I missed the kimchi side. Latest Uodate: I’m a sucker for noodles and this place is serious about their noodles. Today I had the large JaJangbit added the fired dumplings. The noodles and sauce were excellent but I was a bit disappointed in the dumplings. Tastes frozen, which is ok but better than what I can buy at the frozen section at the Hmart. Still good 👍
The best restaurant for Korean-Chinese food The food is delicious, looks good, and is plentiful. It's the best place for a gathering. Very friendly and friendly servers give top marks for service. Especially Korean sweet and sour pork. The food is generally delicious and the servers, even though they are older, are quick and very friendly. There are a lot of customers so there may be some inconvenience in waiting, but it is a Korean restaurant well worth the wait. From simple food to various dishes, it looks good and is delicious. In particular, they provided free jasmine tea, which goes perfectly with Chinese food.
