About Ying Kee Restaurant

Ying Kee Restaurant, situated at 4242 387 9th Street in Oakland, California, is a local establishment categorized as a Chinese Restaurant, offering a variety of dishes to its patrons. Based on recent customer feedback available online, the experiences at Ying Kee Restaurant appear to be somewhat varied, with some customers highlighting positive aspects such as fast service and specific flavorful dishes, while others express significant dissatisfaction with the quality of certain menu items.

One customer shared a particularly negative experience with the Curry Beef Brisket. This reviewer expressed excitement in trying the dish but ultimately found it "really not enjoyable." The issues highlighted included the preparation of the vegetables, with onions and peppers described as "barely cooked", retaining a raw taste and crunch. More concerning was the quality of the beef, with the reviewer stating that the "brisket" was "mostly fat/cartilage" and contained only about three small pieces of actual meat. This discrepancy between expectation and reality led to significant disappointment, especially considering the price point of the meal.

Further compounding this negative experience was the issue of packaging for takeout or delivery. The customer reported that the container leaked all over, suggesting inadequate sealing. This oversight not only created a mess but also reflects a potential lack of attention to detail in ensuring the food arrives in good condition. The reviewer, who incurred a bill of over $50, understandably expressed considerable upset at being served a dish with raw vegetables and what they perceived as low-quality meat trimmings rather than actual brisket. This negative experience resulted in the customer stating it would be their "first and last visit" to Ying Kee Restaurant.

In contrast to this negative feedback, another customer shared a much more positive experience, highlighting "fast service and great food." This reviewer specifically praised the Dried Scallops Egg White Fried Rice, describing it as "awesome." Despite its seemingly plain appearance, the dish was noted to be "very flavorful." The speed of service was also commended, with the fried rice being served in less than 10 minutes after ordering, which was particularly appreciated as the diners were very hungry upon arrival.

The contrasting reviews paint a somewhat complex picture of Ying Kee Restaurant. While there is evidence of efficient service and the potential for flavorful dishes like the Dried Scallops Egg White Fried Rice, there are also significant concerns raised about the quality and preparation of other menu items, such as the Curry Beef Brisket. The issue with inadequate packaging leading to leakage is also a point of concern for those opting for takeout or delivery.

For local users considering Ying Kee Restaurant, it is important to weigh these differing experiences. If you are looking for a quick meal and are inclined towards trying their fried rice dishes, particularly the Dried Scallops Egg White Fried Rice, the positive review suggests a potentially satisfying experience with fast service. However, the negative feedback regarding the Curry Beef Brisket, especially concerning the quality of the meat and the preparation of the vegetables, should also be taken into consideration, particularly if you are considering ordering this or similar dishes.

The lack of further details regarding the restaurant's environment or other aspects of their service makes it challenging to provide a more comprehensive overview. The available information primarily focuses on the food quality and speed of service, with mixed results. Potential customers might benefit from exploring more recent reviews from various sources to gain a broader understanding of the current dining experience at Ying Kee Restaurant.

Given the limited and somewhat contradictory nature of the provided reviews, it is difficult to definitively characterize the overall experience at Ying Kee Restaurant. The fast service reported by one customer is a potential advantage, especially for those seeking a quick meal. Similarly, the positive feedback on the flavor of the Dried Scallops Egg White Fried Rice suggests that some dishes are well-received. However, the significant issues raised by another customer regarding the quality of the Curry Beef Brisket and the inadequate packaging cannot be ignored.

Local users might consider trying some of the positively reviewed items, such as the fried rice, while being cautious about other dishes that have received negative feedback. It may also be prudent to inquire about the packaging for takeout or delivery to avoid potential issues with leakage. As with any restaurant with mixed reviews, individual experiences can vary, and it might be worthwhile to try Ying Kee Restaurant to form your own opinion, perhaps starting with the dishes that have received positive mentions.

In conclusion, Ying Kee Restaurant in Oakland offers fast service and at least one highly praised dish, the Dried Scallops Egg White Fried Rice. However, there are also significant concerns regarding the quality of other dishes, specifically the Curry Beef Brisket, and issues with takeout packaging. Local users should consider these contrasting experiences when deciding whether to patronize Ying Kee Restaurant and might want to focus on trying the dishes that have garnered positive feedback in recent reviews.

Was excited to try their Curry Beef Brisket, but it was really not enjoyable. The onions and peppers were barely cooked so they still had that raw taste/crunch and the “brisket” was mostly fat/cartilage (as pictured) with about three small chunks of meat in the whole meal. The container also leaked all over since for whatever reason they didn’t think to use one that seals fully. For a $50+ check, I’m pretty upset that I was served curry with raw vegetables and the scraps you’d trim off a brisket rather than the brisket itself. First and last visit here.

Fast service and great food. Dried scallops egg white fried rice was awesome, it looked plain but it’s very flavorful. We were so hungry when we arrived without further ado we ordered the fried rice and it’s served in less than 10 mins.

Will definitely come back again when in Oakland. The menu does not look expensive and the food I ordered is pretty tasty. I ordered the Wonton Soup without noodles and also a Chiu Chou Noodles. Friendly staff and credit cards accepted.

An old favorite for your Cantonese noodle fix. I wished they opened until later at night because that would be the best time for this. You can also purchase their wontons frozen to make your own delicious wonton soup at home.
