Yin Ji Chang Fen (Hwy7)

Kinda small inside and quite busy for a weekday lunch. Food was good, decent value. There's a step at the entrance so need to be careful and it's not wheelchair friendly.

The taste of food is good but the congee was quite watery and our oyster congee just had about 6 oysters and cost 10 bucks something. The service is not as expected. We did dine in and take away, we asked the staff to help with the order of take away during our meal, she responded that we have to do it online ourselves. But actually the online ordering page was not so user friendly. First of all, it sometimes stuck and cannot be scroll down. Secondly, it did not provide the option to choose dine in or take away, you have to do it in the remarks of every items you ordered, and before that I thought it was only for the special arrangements for the ingredients only, kind of confused. Finally, there was no options for you to choose the bundles for breakfast since there is a discount in the morning. We used 10 mins to figure it out that we needed to do it online and the staff help to give you a hot drink for free. I did not know why they just made it either online or by staff. Anyways, while we figured it out, the staff told me that I was late for 2 mins so I did not get the promotion.

It was my first experience with rice noodle rolls - the shrimp pork noodle rolls was flavourful and the meats were really melt in your mouth. I would really like to try those again. But I didn't like how the Shrimp Congee is served - first of all they give you the whole shrimp with the head and and the shell and you have to peel the burning hot shrimp while your hands get sticky with the congee. It was quite bland for me. I mean its just rice pudding and whole shrimp - they could have at least given me peeled shrimp! It was so difficult to enjoy. Portion size are good for the price but my problem is with the service - Please consider that you'll also have non Chinese/Non East Asian folks dining here - so consider providing forks or at least be attentive enough to provide Napkins or not cramping them in the smallest table when you have enough tables empty around the place. I do not want to discriminate and I do not write a review for service but there was weird kind of hostility towards us, maybe because it was obvious we didn't look Chinese. I have been to enough Chinese restaurants to know what good hospitality or kind service looks like. This wasn't for me. Not returning.

Food is absolutely legit here. Beef brisket with rice rolls was mind blowingly good. I'm not a big congee fan but I really liked their seafood congee. It had a lot of seafood in it. Shrimp spring rolls were fresh and good. And it's very reasonably priced. Service is fantastic.

Small place at high7 and mccowan location, that serves congee and rice noodles. The wait time is usually around 10 to 15 minutes, but it's worth it. Their food is amazing! Oh, and if you download their app, you can get a 20% discount on your first order.
