About Yi Mei Deli
This guide provides an overview of Yi Mei Deli, a Chinese restaurant located at 18414 Colima Rd in Rowland Heights, California. While categorized as a Chinese restaurant offering food and related services, recent customer reviews paint a concerning picture regarding the overall dining experience, particularly concerning customer service and the restaurant's environment. Potential local users should be aware of these reported issues when considering Yi Mei Deli.
The environment of Yi Mei Deli, according to one reviewer, is described as a "very much dead place with no music but extremely loud machine whining noise." This paints an image of an uninviting atmosphere, lacking the typical background ambiance one might expect in a dining establishment. The presence of loud mechanical noise could significantly detract from the comfort and enjoyment of any meal consumed on-site. This description suggests that the environment may not be conducive to a pleasant dining experience.
In terms of services, Yi Mei Deli presumably offers standard Chinese restaurant services such as dine-in and takeout. One reviewer mentioned attempting to have a sticky rice lotus leaf wrap heated up, indicating that they do serve such items and are expected to provide basic services like reheating food. However, the experience of this customer was negative, as their request was reportedly ignored by a staff member. Another instance involved an elderly mother requesting a new lid, only to receive a "lecture" instead of the simple provision of the item. These accounts raise serious concerns about the attentiveness and courtesy of the service provided at Yi Mei Deli.
Adding to the negative service experiences, one reviewer described the staff, specifically "the ladies who run the business," as engaging in what they perceived as inappropriate behavior. These individuals reportedly would "seize any opportunity to joke about something costing money and needing to charge customers extra." While the reviewer understood this as a possible attempt to alleviate boredom, they found the humor to be repetitive and ultimately not funny, suggesting a lack of professionalism in customer interactions. The fact that the staff did not seem to realize the negative impact of their jokes on the customers further underscores the reported issues with service etiquette.
The features of Yi Mei Deli are not extensively detailed in the provided reviews, but some inferences can be made. One reviewer mentioned that Yi Mei "may dominate the local market for soy milk," suggesting that soy milk is a significant or popular item they offer, possibly even a specialty. The mention of a "sticky rice lotus leaf wrap" indicates that they serve traditional Chinese snacks or dishes of this nature. However, beyond these specific items, there is no information available about the breadth or quality of their overall menu. The negative experiences with service overshadow any potential positive features of their food offerings.
The recurring theme in the reviews is the poor customer service. One long-time customer, who used to frequent the establishment during college, returned with their mother only to be met with "utter disrespect" from a staff member. This included being ignored when asking to have food heated and the unpleasant interaction when their elderly mother requested a lid. This reviewer, with over thirty years of dining experience in the area, described this as "by far the worst, most unpleasant dining experience" they had ever had. This strong statement highlights the severity of the service issues reported.
There is no mention of any promotional information for Yi Mei Deli in the provided reviews. Restaurants often use promotions to attract customers, but there is no indication of any such offers being available or advertised by this establishment. Local users would need to contact Yi Mei Deli directly or visit their location to inquire about any potential specials or promotions.
In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for Yi Mei Deli at 18414 Colima Rd in Rowland Heights, CA, paint a concerning picture. The environment is described as unpleasant due to loud mechanical noise and a lack of ambiance. The service is repeatedly criticized for being disrespectful, inattentive, and unprofessional, with instances of requests being ignored and customers being treated poorly. While Yi Mei Deli may be known for certain items like soy milk and offers dishes like sticky rice lotus leaf wraps, the overwhelmingly negative feedback regarding service and environment suggests that potential customers should approach this establishment with caution. There is no information available about any promotional offers. Local users seeking a pleasant dining experience may want to consider these recent reviews before choosing to visit Yi Mei Deli. Customer Reviews
I used to come to this place often during my college days. When I returned recently with my mom, we were treated with utter disrespect by a lady who seemed absolutely unhappy to be serving there. For example, not only was I ignored when I asked her to heat up my sticky rice lotus leaf wrap, but when my elderly mother lost a lid and requested a new one, this lady gave her a lecture instead of simply providing it. Yi Mei may dominate the local market for soy milk, and their clientele may keep coming regardless of the poor treatment, but this was by far the worst, most unpleasant dining experience I’ve had in over thirty years of dining in the area.
It’s a very much dead place with no music but extremely loud machine whining noise. The ladies who run the business believe they’re gifted in humor and would seize any opportunity to joke about something costing money and needing to charge customers extra. I get it that they’re bored af and just trying to make some past-time but the jokes got old right when they told them for the second time, not to say third or fourth. It really wasn’t a funny experience for anyone but they don’t seem to realize that.
Had breakfast with my husband this morning here. We come here every time we visit the area. It made me sad seeing so many negative reviews because we love this place. They do take credit but there is a minimum of $30. The food was amazing as always and the staff was busy getting orders out. Once again we left very happy.
Absolutely love this gem of a Chinese deli! Their buns are beyond compare - fluffy, flavorful, and always fresh. A must-visit for authentic bites and a stay that feels just right. Highly recommend!
Been coming here since I was a kid but my god has the price gone up. Always have been a fan of the salty rice roll and egg omelet. Glad to see that this place is still around after all these years.
