About YGF Malatang UIUC
Welcome to YGF Malatang UIUC! Categorized as a Chinese Restaurant, YGF Malatang UIUC, located at 611 E Green St in Champaign, IL, USA, offers an authentic Malatang experience. For our local users in US, Malatang is a popular and customizable soup dish originating from Sichuan cuisine in China, known for its flavorful and often spicy broth.
YGF Malatang UIUC provides a unique dining experience where you can select from a wide array of fresh ingredients to create your own personalized bowl of Malatang. The available options include a variety of vegetables, noodles (such as crystal noodles), tofu (like bean curd strips), different types of meat (including a less fatty beef option praised for its tenderness), and seafood. This "build-your-own-bowl" concept allows for a high degree of customization to suit individual preferences.
Similar to a hot pot setup, YGF Malatang UIUC features a station where diners can add fresh toppings and create their own dipping sauces. This allows for further personalization of the flavor profile of your meal, enabling you to adjust the spiciness or add other desired tastes.
One popular broth option is the classic herbal beef bone broth, described as "pretty mild" but of "amazing quality" – silky smooth and very flavorful. Customers have the option to enhance the spiciness of this broth by adding chili paste from the dipping sauce bar. The ingredients chosen are cooked perfectly in the broth, resulting in a "super cozy meal overall," particularly appealing in colder weather.
Customers have also commented on the excellent service and the pleasant interior of the restaurant, describing the environment as "clean and tidy." YGF Malatang UIUC is a recently opened establishment on Green Street, quickly gaining recognition as another great lunch option in the area.
In summary, YGF Malatang UIUC offers a customizable and flavorful Malatang experience with a wide selection of fresh ingredients, delicious broths, and the option to create your own dipping sauces and add fresh toppings. The restaurant boasts a clean and inviting environment with great service. While located in the USA, the concept of customizable Malatang is something you might find and enjoy in local establishments in US offering Sichuan or hot pot style cuisine.

This was my first time having malatang at a restaurant, and it was a great experience! There is a large selection of ingredients you can add to your bowl, such as veggies, noodles, tofu, meat, and seafood. My favorites were the crystal noodles, bean curd strips, and beef (I chose the less fatty one, and it was super tender). There’s also a little station where you can add fresh toppings/make your own dipping sauce just like at hot pot. I got the classic herbal beef bone broth, which was pretty mild but I added chili paste from the dipping sauce bar to make it spicy. The broth was amazing quality — silky smooth and really flavorful. Each ingredient was perfectly cooked in the broth, and it was a super cozy meal overall. The service was great too, and the interior is really nice. I’ll definitely come back again, especially in the colder weather!
The Mala Tang is very delicious. The environment is also clean and tidy. It is recently opened new store. Another great lunch restaurant on Green St.
Yangguofu Malatang is a great spot for hotpot lovers. You can choose from a wide range of fresh ingredients and customize your broth. The atmosphere is casual, and the service is friendly. Perfect for a fun meal with friends!
Great food!! We have amazing lunch here. The staff are super welcoming and friendly🥰 definitely love this place
Visited today to try malatang for the first time. The person working the register was helpful with figuring out vegetarian options. From there, you put your desired veggies, noodles, and proteins in a bowl, then bring it to the register. There were more options here than I've seen at local hot-pot places. For the vibe, I would consider this "fast casual." The food came very quickly, and I loved the tomato-based and curry broths. We had two small issues: the lotus root was too tough to eat, and the mochi nugget had fish despite me asking if it had meat. I would still go back, tough I'd put a little less in my bowl next time.
