About YGF Malatang 杨国福麻辣烫

Welcome to YGF Malatang 杨国福麻辣烫, a distinctive Chinese restaurant located at 11688 South St #101 in Artesia, California. As a unique offering within the Chinese Restaurant category, YGF Malatang specializes in providing a customizable and interactive hot pot experience known as Malatang. Based on enthusiastic customer reviews, YGF Malatang in Artesia offers a wide array of fresh ingredients, flavorful broths, and the ability to tailor your meal to your exact preferences.

One of the most appealing features of YGF Malatang is the personalized nature of the dining experience. As highlighted by a delighted customer, "You choose your own malatang ingredients and they cook it for you. A lot of toppings to choose from." This interactive approach allows diners to select from a diverse selection of fresh vegetables, meats, seafood, noodles, and other ingredients, creating a hot pot that perfectly suits their individual tastes and cravings. This "choose your own adventure" style of dining is a significant draw for those who enjoy customizing their meals.

YGF Malatang offers a variety of broth options to further enhance the flavor profile of your customized hot pot. According to customer feedback, the available broths include "beef broth, tomato, Tom yum, dry mix, etc." These different broths provide a range of taste experiences, from the rich and savory beef broth to the tangy and slightly sweet tomato broth, and the spicy and aromatic Tom yum. One reviewer specifically recommended the "beef or tomato one," suggesting these are particularly flavorful and popular choices among patrons. The "dry mix" option indicates that customers can also opt for a non-soup-based preparation, allowing for even greater customization.

Beyond the customizable Malatang, YGF Malatang also offers other flavorful items, such as the "squid skewers." One customer who tried them described them as "very flavorful with spice!" This suggests that YGF Malatang also provides delicious side dishes that complement the main hot pot experience, catering to different palates and preferences.

For those new to Malatang, one reviewer shared their positive first-time experience, stating they "wasn’t disappointed." They further elaborated on the process, explaining, "You choose your food with veggies then they weigh it and cook it for you." This weight-based pricing model is a common approach for Malatang restaurants, allowing customers to control the portion size and cost based on their selections. The reviewer also highlighted the variety of "different broths to choose from and levels of spice you want," emphasizing the degree of customization available.

An important point of feedback regarding the spice levels is worth noting. The first-time Malatang diner cautioned, "Be careful with the spiciness cuz I got mild and it’s probably medium for other places." This indicates that the spice levels at YGF Malatang might be more intense than what some customers are accustomed to at other establishments. Therefore, those sensitive to spice may want to start with a milder option and adjust accordingly on future visits.

Overall, the customer experiences at YGF Malatang in Artesia have been overwhelmingly positive. Reviewers consistently praise the quality of the food, the deliciousness of the broths, and the fun and interactive nature of choosing their own ingredients. One reviewer concluded their experience by stating, "Overall good experience. Food is good, broth is delicious. No issue coming back here," indicating a high level of satisfaction and a likelihood of repeat visits.

In summary, YGF Malatang 杨国福麻辣烫 in Artesia, CA, offers a unique and engaging dining experience centered around customizable Malatang hot pot. I love YGF so I’m glad that they open one in Artesia! You choose your own malatang ingredients and they cook it for you. A lot of toppings to choose from. They have beef broth, tomato, Tom yum, dry mix, etc. I would recommend the beef or tomato one. I also tried their squid skewers which is very flavorful with spice!

First time trying YGF Malatang and wasn’t disappointed. You choose your food with veggies then they weigh it and cook it for you. Different broths to choose from and levels of spice you want. Be careful with the spiciness cuz I got mild and it’s probably medium for other places. Overall good experience. Food is good, broth is delicious. No issue coming back here.

It's a fun way to do dinner. Pick your ingredients out by the pound, send it to the chef, and get a bowl of boiling hot soup back. There is a bar to mix up your own dipping sauces, which is great. The price is currently $15 per pound, which is fair for some items, but pricey for others. So watch out for the corn on the cob!

Meat doesn’t looks so fresh, especially the garlic beef. Perhaps it’s not raw? Service is a little bit too much in my opinion but it’s ok. Around $20-30 per person spend.

I am not an expert of Taiwanese sausage nor cooking in general but the sausage seemed raw to me so I inquired about this to the server. He said it’s fine so I asked him again are you sure, and he took it and brought me a replacement. The picture above is the replacement, which was better cooked than the first one. After the meal I again took this second sausage to the front and he said it is fine. They cooked it for 10 minutes. I don’t think I waited 10 minutes for these sausages. He took the sausage off the bill but I was still unhappy with the handling of the situation. If you are young and unaware you would end up eating raw sausages here thinking it’s cooked fine. That’s what the server thought. Hopefully I don’t get sick off the little bit of raw sausage I had in my mouth in the beginning 🙂 I liked their soup though.
