About Yet Wah Restaurant
Welcome to Yet Wah Restaurant, a Chinese restaurant situated at 1238 4th St in San Rafael, CA. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, Yet Wah aims to provide a dining experience for local users seeking Chinese cuisine. Based on recent online reviews, customer experiences appear to be somewhat varied, with some praising the restaurant for its food and value, while others have reported significant issues with service and wait times, particularly during busy periods.
One reviewer described Yet Wah Restaurant as "amazing," highlighting "great food for a great price" and referring to it as "such a sweet little gem in the heart of San Rafael." This positive feedback suggests that when the restaurant operates smoothly, it can offer a delightful dining experience characterized by tasty food and affordability. This sentiment paints a picture of a potentially charming local establishment that provides good value for its offerings.
However, another, more detailed review presents a starkly contrasting experience. This reviewer, identifying as a manager of a large restaurant business, expressed significant dissatisfaction with the front-of-house (FOH) staff's attitude during a holiday. The core of the complaint revolves around perceived unprofessionalism and a lack of effective customer service in the face of commercial pressures during a busy time. According to this account, the reviewer and their party waited for an extended period – one hour and nine minutes – and received only a minimal portion of their order (one pan-fried dumpling and four cups of Coke), which they felt should have been prepared much more quickly.
The reviewer acknowledged that holidays are typically busy for restaurants but expressed concern over the restaurant's handling of the situation. They reported informing the waiter after an hour of waiting that their children were hungry, implying a lack of proactive service in addressing the delay. The reviewer also observed that while the restaurant seemed to be fulfilling orders based on sequence, the high volume of takeout orders appeared to be causing significant delays and dissatisfaction among dine-in customers, including themselves.
The critique extends to the restaurant's operational strategy during peak times. The reviewer suggested that busy restaurants should manage the number of takeout orders, potentially by temporarily closing or adjusting order intake to balance the needs of both dine-in and takeout customers. The reviewer felt that the focus on maximizing profits during a holiday seemed to come at the expense of the dine-in experience, making it unsuitable for those wishing to enjoy a relaxed meal.
Furthermore, the reviewer specifically mentioned a "very rude attitude and words of the receptionist," which they found unexpected and surprising. This negative interaction with the front-of-house staff significantly impacted their overall impression of Yet Wah Restaurant, leading them to strongly recommend against visiting.
Considering these two reviews, it is challenging to form a definitive picture of the typical experience at Yet Wah Restaurant. The positive review suggests a potentially pleasant and affordable local eatery, while the negative review raises serious concerns about service quality, particularly during busy periods, and the attitude of the staff. It is possible that the experience can vary depending on the time of visit, the volume of customers, and potentially other factors.
The provided information does not offer specific details about the restaurant's environment or ambiance. The positive review's description of it as a "sweet little gem" implies a cozy and perhaps intimate setting, but without further information, it is difficult to elaborate on the décor or overall atmosphere. Similarly, details about specific services offered, beyond dine-in and presumably takeout, are not available in the provided text. There is no mention of delivery services, online ordering options, or any special features of the restaurant's environment.
Regarding promotional information, neither of the provided reviews mentions any specific deals, specials, or ongoing promotions at Yet Wah Restaurant. Therefore, it is not possible to provide any details about potential cost-saving opportunities or unique offerings that might attract customers. Local users interested in learning about any promotions should likely contact the restaurant directly via phone at (415) 460-9883 or mobile phone at +1 415-460-9883 to inquire.
In conclusion, Yet Wah Restaurant in San Rafael appears to be a local Chinese restaurant that has garnered both praise for its food and value and significant criticism regarding its service, particularly during busy holiday periods. Potential customers should be aware of these contrasting experiences when considering a visit. While one reviewer found it to be an "amazing" and affordable "sweet little gem," another reported unprofessional staff and excessively long wait times attributed to a high volume of takeout orders. Without further information on the restaurant's environment, full range of services, and any current promotions, it is recommended that prospective diners weigh these contrasting accounts and perhaps consider the timing of their visit. If you are considering dining at Yet Wah Restaurant, especially during peak hours or holidays, it might be prudent to call ahead to inquire about wait times and the restaurant's current operational status regarding dine-in and takeout orders.

This restaurant is amazing. Great food for a great price. Such a sweet little gem in the heart of San Rafael.
Because of the holiday and as a manage of a 70 million dollar restaurant business. I cannot accept the attitude of the restaurant from foh staff today. In addition to the unprofessional attitude, there is no effective way to appease customers on the premise of commercial profits during the holidays, which is the biggest fatal flaw in the service industry. We waited for an hour and nine minutes and only got one pan-fried dumpling and four cups of Coke, which can be made in just ten minutes. Because of the holiday, I knew it would be very busy, so we waited for an hour before telling the waiter, please give me We had little food because the children were hungry. I observed that although they catered to customers according to the order of food orders, there were many complaints from customers due to the large number of takeaways, and we were really one of them. Busy restaurants should control the number of takeout orders and the number of takeout orders, and timely close and open the number of orders to ensure that the number of guests visiting the restaurant and the number of takeout orders are controlled. A business activity that really wants to make money is not suitable for us to enjoy food. The very rude attitude and words of the receptionist are very unexpected and surprising in this place. It is definitely not recommended to visit.
GREAT special occasion venue for small group!Comfortable semi-private Sunday lunch of 13 people, tables are partitioned off from the main restaurant area. Owner Simon was very helpful multiple times by phone regarding menu choices ("How spicy is it? What are the 'tender greens'?") and table arrangements (we chose 2 round tables with 'lazy Susan' servers, but could have used one large oval table if desired). Simon welcomed us to arrive early to decorate. I super appreciated being able to discuss questions since we live far away. Everyone thought the food was delicious. Princess Garden Chicken Salad, Steak Cubed with Tender Greens (we chose bok choy), Sweet & Sour Pork, Peking Duck with Buns, Glazed Walnut Prawns, Spinach with Garlic Sauce, Ice Cream. The "glazed walnut prawns" were fried crispy and not covered with white sauce. We actually liked them this way, but if you want yours more sticky, you could ask. Also, the Peking Duck was cut and not all of the breast pieces were separated from bone. If you want all the breast pieces to be boneless so it is simpler to lay the meat on the steamed bun, you should request that. We would gladly plan another gathering at Yet Wah.
Hands-down the worst Mongolian beef I’ve ever had it was all vegetables which using Mongolian beef and onions in the meat. This is all vegetables and $36 and I got one pack of soy sauce which I asked for life voice like five times and then I’m gonna argument with a guy because that’s all I would get. 1
*DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY* *Fried wontons had almost NO MEAT inside * the szechuan chicken was extremely dry and obviously old * I orderd "fried chicken wings" as it's written on the menu and instead got fried chicken drum sticks ???? With only half the meat on it *I was charged $51.36 and for what I received I got scammed I can't even make this up GRADE: D-
