About Yat Sing Restaurant

Yat Sing Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant located at 38 Woodside Rd, Redwood City, CA 94061, USA. They can be contacted at (650) 368-8889 or +1 650-368-8889.

Based on recent customer feedback, experiences at Yat Sing Restaurant appear to be mixed. One long-time customer reported a decline in food quality over several months, culminating in a recent takeout order of greasy and inedible vegetarian egg rolls and flavorless shrimp noodle soup with a sparse amount of shrimp. This customer also raised concerns about price transparency, noting discrepancies between menu prices and the charged amount, which had been an ongoing issue. Citing these issues, the customer stated they would not be returning.

Another reviewer described the menu as "pretty mid" with portions that felt small for the price. They mentioned debatable cleanliness, including the presence of flies and a sticky table. However, this reviewer did note good service and described the restaurant's traditional Hong Kong/Cantonese decor and atmosphere as a "vibe," albeit within a larger American space. This customer also found the wontons to be on the fatty side.

As a local Chinese restaurant, Yat Sing Restaurant offers a menu with various options, including vegetarian dishes and seafood like shrimp noodle soup. However, recent reviews suggest potential concerns regarding food quality consistency, pricing accuracy, and cleanliness that local users may want to consider.

I moved to the Bay Area about 2 years ago and found it difficult to find a really good restaurant like Yat Sing. After moving to Woodside about 1 year ago, my husband and I finally decided to give it a try and the food was amazing! Since then we have noticed the food quality started to decline but not enough to write a review nor stop going there but this evening I have had enough! First the price charged on 16Jan2024, was different than the price on the menu which I was told would be fixed last year. When I inquired about the price difference, the lady at the front desk simply said “that’s the price, we are printing new menus”. Since I have been a customer since last year, that seems like a long time to not have menus correctly reflect the pricing and gives me the feeling that they charge what they feel like as I have no transparency in advance and this has been an issue since last year. I understand things are changing and prices may be updated more frequently in today’s world but they need to offer digital menus instead and print only a few for customers that are not digital savvy. Anyway, I ordered take out that included a vegetarian egg rolls and shrimp noodle soup which cost $25.82. The vegetarian egg roll was greasy and uneditable! When I looked at the container to see why grease was dripping down my fingers I was surprised to see the egg roll was literally swimming in grease (see attached picture). I also ordered the shrimp noodle soup which was flavorless and had about 5 shrimp in total. My total cost for these two items was $25.82 and not worth the price at all. I will not return. Not sure if they have changed chefs but they need to go back to their original quality of food which has been lacking for months. And they need to address the price transparency issues mentioned earlier. I wish them well but won’t be back.

Pretty mid menu and not much food for $15. Debatable cleanliness (flies, sticky table), but good service, and it's a vibe: it's of traditional cheap Hong Kong/Canto decor and smell and food. But spread out in the big American space lol so to put it nicely, it's a vibe lol The wontons are also on the fatty tasting side, which is not my preference

I am biased to be sure, but Yat Sing has been a neighborhood staple for years. I was saddened when the closed the Marsh Manor location during the pandemic and delighted to finally make my way across town to the Woodside Rd location. The pot stickers really are the best in town.

They will try to screw there customer and if you don’t check you bill, i was charged with the food that I didn’t order. I already experienced it twice.

This restaurant needs a better chef. The food was less than so so. Not going back.
