About Yang Garden

Yang Garden is a Chinese restaurant located at 816 West 187th Street in the upper Manhattan area of New York City. Operating within the platform category of "Chinese Restaurant," it is expected to offer a variety of dishes that are characteristic of Chinese cuisine, including rice and noodle dishes, vegetable and meat preparations, and other regional specialties. The restaurant has reportedly been in business for a significant amount of time, as evidenced by the "aging and sun bleached pictures of meals" visible on its signage.

One customer review interpreted the longevity and aged signage of Yang Garden as a positive indicator, suggesting that "this food is going to be great." This perspective implies that a long-standing presence in the community is often associated with consistent quality and satisfying meals that have allowed the restaurant to endure over time. The reviewer seemed to draw a direct correlation between the restaurant's history and the expected taste and quality of its food.

However, another customer had a significantly different experience, describing their meal as "by far the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had." This reviewer ordered vegetable dumplings and chicken and broccoli, finding the dishes to be "so bland" with "barely any flavor." They mentioned that they were trying Yang Garden as an alternative to their usual Chinese food spot due to a negative review of that establishment. Unfortunately, Yang Garden did not meet their expectations, leading them to conclude, "Never again." This customer indicated a preference for making the trip to Chinatown for their Chinese food in the future.

Specifically, the negative reviewer noted that the "chicken and broccoli lacks flavor in the sauce and the rice doesn’t really have any flavor at all." This suggests a fundamental issue with the seasoning and taste profiles of these common Chinese dishes. The only somewhat positive aspect of their order was the vegetable dumplings, which they rated as "ok but a little doughy," earning the restaurant two stars solely based on this part of the meal.

The stark contrast between these two reviews provides a mixed picture of Yang Garden. One perspective suggests a belief in the quality associated with longevity, while the other reports a very negative experience with bland and tasteless food. This discrepancy could indicate variability in food quality or different taste preferences and expectations among customers.

Information regarding the environment of Yang Garden is not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews. The comment about the aging signage focuses on the exterior and longevity rather than the interior ambiance. Therefore, an objective description of the restaurant's decor, cleanliness, or overall atmosphere for dine-in customers cannot be provided based on this information. It is unknown whether Yang Garden primarily focuses on takeout and delivery or if it also offers a significant dine-in experience.

In terms of services, Yang Garden likely offers takeout, given that one reviewer ordered vegetable dumplings and chicken and broccoli, implying a meal consumed off-premises. While not explicitly stated, it is also probable that Yang Garden provides delivery services, as this is a common offering for Chinese restaurants, especially in a densely populated area like New York City. The phone numbers provided ((212) 781-0055 and +1 212-781-0055) would be the primary means for placing phone orders for both takeout and delivery. The availability of online ordering is not mentioned in the provided reviews.

Features of Yang Garden, based on the limited reviews, are somewhat contradictory. The restaurant's long-standing presence in the community could be considered a feature, suggesting a degree of stability and perhaps a history of satisfying some customers. However, the recent negative review highlights a lack of flavor in key dishes like chicken and broccoli and plain rice, as well as doughy vegetable dumplings. The only mildly positive comment was about the dumplings being "ok." Therefore, based on this recent feedback, a consistent quality of flavorful food may not be a reliable feature.

There is no promotional information mentioned in the customer reviews. Details about any special offers, discounts, or loyalty programs that Yang Garden might be running are not provided. To obtain such information, it would be necessary to directly contact the restaurant via phone or visit their location at 816 West 187th Street, New York, NY 10033, USA. They may also have a menu available online or in-store that could highlight any current promotions.

In conclusion, Yang Garden is a Chinese restaurant in upper Manhattan with a history long enough to result in aged signage, which one customer viewed as a positive indicator of quality. However, a more recent review described the food, specifically the chicken and broccoli and rice, as bland and tasteless, with only the vegetable dumplings being somewhat acceptable. Potential customers should be aware of these contrasting opinions when considering Yang Garden. For information on the restaurant's environment, services beyond takeout and potential delivery, and any current promotions, direct contact with the establishment is recommended.

This restaurant has been around for quite sometime now so, when you look up at the signs you can see the aging and sun bleached pictures of meals they still make. This to me is a sign that this food is going to be great.

Got the vegetable dumplings and chicken and broccoli and this is by far the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. It’s so bland. Barely any flavor. I hadn’t been eating Chinese food cause my typical Chinese food spot got a new roach review so I decided to try this out. Never again. I think I’ll just make the trip to Chinatown. The chicken and broccoli lacks flavor in the sauce and the rice doesn’t really have any flavor at all. The dumplings were the only reason I gave it two stars. They were ok but a little doughy. I gave in to this spot cause of the reviews. So I hope this review steers those who are like me and looking for a new spot.

I order once from here about 3 years ago and I been eating it once a week ever since. Best Chinese food in the area in my opinion, I mostly enjoy their fried rice which is less greasy than most places.
