About Yan's Chinese Food

Located at 9140 W Thomas Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85037, USA, Yan's Chinese Food operates as a meal takeaway service categorized as a Chinese Restaurant. While the physical appearance of the establishment might seem "run down" to some, customer experiences with the staff and certain food items have been positive.

Regarding the food, opinions vary. One customer highly recommended the "orange chicken combo," particularly praising the "delicious" chow mein. However, they noted the orange chicken was too hot to eat immediately. Another customer, who has tried multiple Chinese spots in the Valley, found Yan's did not quite meet the standards of New York City or Chicago-style Chinese food.

The "General Tso chicken combo," priced at around $12, was described as having a "fair" portion size, though smaller than what some might expect from typical Chinese takeout. The flavor was noted as different, leaning towards a sweet and sour taste with a light kick of Sriracha, and included peppers, onions, and peas instead of the more common broccoli. The fried rice that came with the combo was described as "disappointing," "bland," and "stale" with no vegetables mixed in.

Despite some criticisms of the food, the service at Yan's Chinese Food was consistently described as "very fast and friendly," with no complaints from customers regarding the staff.

Overall, Yan's Chinese Food might be a convenient option for those in the immediate vicinity, such as near the hospital across the street, due to its fast and friendly service. However, some aspects of the food, such as the General Tso chicken and fried rice, may not align with everyone's expectations of traditional Chinese cuisine. This is a great little place. It looks run down but the staff and food let me look past it. I had the orange chicken combo. The chow mein was so delicious! I didn’t really get to try the orange chicken because it was too hot to eat. I was taking forever to cool off. I will definitely be back!

This is 7th Chinese spot I have tried in the Valley and it just doesn't hit like an NYC/CHICAGO Chinese joint. Ordered the General Tso chicken combo Portion was fair for the 12 dollar price, though, if you're used to regular Chinese spots overfilling the tray you're going to be dissapointed. The flavor was good but far different from what I'm used to, this almost seemed like sweet & sour mixed with Sriracha. Very light kick, predominantly sweet, however, not what I'm used to having as "General Tso" chicken. It also came with peppers, onions, and peas where I'm used to getting it with broccoli. The fried rice was disappointing, very bland and stale (almost like it wasn't cooked to completion), no veggies mixed in. The service was very fast and friendly, no complaints there. All in all this place is not worth traveling for but convenient if you're at the hospital across the street

1st visit and I honestly was pleasantly surprised!. The food was pretty tasty. My only complaints are...... The host didn't have the most welcoming demeanor, and she stated she could add spice to my orange chicken and it was not spicy AT ALL!... I would dine here again though.. *******UPDATE******* SO I VISITED THIS ESTABLISHMENT TODAY AND ORDERED THE KUNG PAO COMBO THAT WAS SUPPOSE TO COME WITH "SPICY" CHICKEN "EGG" FRIED RICE AND A SPRING ROLL.. I got home and as you can see from the picture below all the have me was some brown rice with tons of veggies....... oh and a two bite spring roll.. I called and asked why there was no egg in my supposedly egg fried rice, and her response was....... BC EGGS ARE EXPENSIVE NOW!!... LIKE WHAAAT?!!!..... Then I stated that my Kung Pao chicken was sweet with no hint of spicy and that they gave me tons of veggies and hardly no meat. AND SHE JUST HUNG UP ON ME!!.. I JUST STOOD THERE IN SHOCK LIKE WHAT?!!!.... I WILL NEVER VISIT THIS PLACE AGAIN............ NEEEEVVVVEEEERRRRR

I am extremely disappointed, i wanted chicken MI fun (rice noodles) an I got chicken fettuccine. An I drove 30 minutes for this place. I gave it a 4 because the people was nice but their plates are not cheap. Your looking at 15 plus per person.

This place is really busy. It's not the cleanest place to dine in at, but the food was ok a bit on the salty side & and overpriced for rice, It's about 15. -20$ to dollars per plate. The service would have been ok if they hadn't forgotten my steamed rice. The packaging was nice & clean.
