About XLB Kitchen

Welcome to XLB Kitchen, a Chinese restaurant located at 10235 S De Anza Blvd in Cupertino, California. As a valued member of the local Chinese Restaurant community, XLB Kitchen has garnered positive attention for its delectable food and exceptionally accommodating service. Based on customer testimonials, XLB Kitchen offers a warm and welcoming environment where delicious classic Chinese dishes, particularly their signature Xiao Long Bao, take center stage.

One of the standout features of XLB Kitchen, repeatedly praised by patrons, is the high quality of their food. Customers have described the food as "delicious," indicating a commitment to flavor and satisfying culinary experiences. Among the dishes highlighted, the braised pork received special mention as a favorite, suggesting a rich and flavorful preparation of this classic Chinese staple.

Beyond the exceptional taste of their cuisine, XLB Kitchen distinguishes itself through its "excellent service." One particularly heartwarming review recounted an experience where the manager went above and beyond to assist a family with a fussy young child. The manager's understanding and efforts to console the child and offer suggestions were deeply appreciated, showcasing a level of care and accommodation that extends beyond simply serving food. This anecdote suggests that XLB Kitchen prides itself on creating a family-friendly and supportive dining atmosphere.

Another customer stumbled upon XLB Kitchen serendipitously after an unfavorable experience at a nearby establishment. Their description of XLB Kitchen as a "hole in the wall" that turned out to be "the best thing ever" speaks volumes about the unexpected delight they found. This suggests that while the exterior or initial impression might be unassuming, the quality of the food and the overall experience are truly remarkable.

The ambiance of XLB Kitchen is described as having a "very local Chinese vibe." The presence of a Chinese elder enjoying a meal and reading a newspaper nearby contributed to this authentic and down-to-earth atmosphere, which resonated positively with the reviewer. This suggests that XLB Kitchen is a place where one can experience a genuine slice of local Chinese culture alongside their meal.

Despite being a "small" establishment, XLB Kitchen offers an outdoor seating area, providing an alternative dining environment and potentially increasing the restaurant's capacity during pleasant weather. This option allows diners to enjoy their meal in a more open and casual setting.

The service at XLB Kitchen is noted for its efficiency and attentiveness. Upon arrival, the hostess promptly greeted diners with menus and tea, a traditional and welcoming gesture in many Chinese restaurants. The menu itself is described as "simple yet it had all the classic Chinese dishes," indicating a focus on well-executed traditional favorites rather than an overwhelming number of options. This curated menu likely ensures that each dish is prepared with care and expertise.

Three dishes specifically ordered and highly praised were the Xiao Long Bao (XLB), Shanghai-style rice cakes, and string beans. The Xiao Long Bao were particularly noteworthy, described as "HUGE" with a "thin skin yet SO juicy." The reviewer even dared to suggest that they might be "better than Din Tai Fung!?" a well-renowned establishment famous for its soup dumplings. This bold statement underscores the exceptional quality of XLB Kitchen's signature dish.

The Shanghai-style rice cakes also received high marks, described as a "pleasant surprise," "very tasty," and "not too oily," with the added benefit of including vegetables. This indicates a well-balanced and flavorful preparation of another classic dish. The string beans were deemed a "classic," although the reviewer noted they might be "a little pricey," suggesting that while good, they might represent a slightly higher cost compared to other items on the menu.

Overall, the dining experience at XLB Kitchen left the reviewers thoroughly satisfied. They reported cleaning their plates and leaving with "full stomachs and smiles," expressing a clear intention to return. This strong positive sentiment highlights the consistent quality of the food and service that XLB Kitchen provides.

Based on these enthusiastic reviews, XLB Kitchen appears to be a gem within the Cupertino Chinese Restaurant scene. Its features include delicious and authentic classic Chinese dishes, with a standout reputation for its oversized and juicy Xiao Long Bao. The service is consistently described as excellent and accommodating, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all diners, including families. The environment is cozy and has a local Chinese charm, with the added benefit of outdoor seating. While specific promotional information is not available in these reviews, the overwhelmingly positive feedback suggests that the quality of the food and service are strong draws in themselves.

Food was delicious! Beyond the great food was the excellent service. My little one was being super fussy and the manager was so accommodating and understanding trying to console him as well and trying to give suggestions but he was super sleepy and wasn't having it but we really appreciated her support. Will definitely plan better and return. The braised pork was my favorite.

Bob Ross was right about happy little accidents! My girlfriend and I were craving soup dumplings. We were at another restaurant across the street but realized it was the wrong place. It felt so cold and dark there. So we left and ended up at XLB Kitchen, a hole in the wall, and it was the best thing ever. The place is small but has an outdoor area. The vibe was very local Chinese—a Chinese grandpa was eating at a table next to me, reading his newspaper. Love it! The hostess greeted us at the door and immediately gave us menus and tea. The menu is simple yet it had all the classic Chinese dishes. We ordered XLB, shanghai style rice cakes, and string beans. ALL DELICIOUS. The XLB were HUGE! Thin skin yet SO juicy. Dare I say, better than Din Tai Fung!? The plate of rice cake was a pleasant surprise too. Very tasty, not too oily, included veggies too. The string beans were a classic, maybe a little pricey. Overall, we cleaned everything off our plates and left with full stomachs and smiles. We will be back!!

XLB is a favorite local spot among locals kin the San Jose/Cupertino area. We like to order the Mongolian Beef, Chicken Fried Rice, and Pork XLB Dumplings. Today, we tried out the Dan-Dan noodles. The food tasted like authentic cuisine, including a pot of complimentary green tea. It is a bit on the pricier side, though it feels like the quality of food is just about worth it.

No extra fees or surcharges. Thank you XLB Kitchen for the honest, inclusive menu pricing and please stay fee-free. I enjoyed our meal, especially the spicy dishes. The portions are hefty and it would be totally reasonable to split a main between two adults of average appetite. I’m not an XLB expert, but they seemed ok, except I wish they didn’t stick together because when you try to separate them, they tear and spill the soup. Outdoor seating: The dining patio seats a fair number of people. It is very well shaded with umbrellas and decorated with string lights, plants, and a garden fountain.

Met here a few times for meals with friends and family. XLB is great, nice and thin wrap with soup. We order pork belly with sticky rice, tasty. Won ton soup is good as well as fried rice and noodles. My friends love the chili oil won ton. Service is nice and efficient. If you have a group, make a reservation. It can get busy at lunch and dinner.
