Based on feedback from numerous satisfied customers, Xin Ding Dumpling House stands out for its commitment to providing truly authentic Chinese food. Many reviewers, including those of Chinese heritage, have lauded the restaurant for the genuine flavors reminiscent of home-cooked meals. A particular highlight mentioned frequently is their exceptional range of dumplings, prepared with care and bursting with flavor. Beyond dumplings, the menu boasts a selection of standout dishes, with the Dry Pot Cauliflowers receiving high praise for its unique taste and generous portion size. Customers have also raved about the Chongqing Style Hot Chicken, describing it as crispy, spicy, and intensely flavorful, making it a highly recommended choice for those who enjoy a bit of heat.
The culinary offerings extend beyond these highlights to include a variety of other popular Chinese dishes. Patrons have enjoyed the flavorful fried rice, the delicate Pork Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings, the fluffy and savory Pork Buns, and the fresh Shrimp Shumai. The stir-fried eggplant and string beans have also been commended for their delicious taste and quality. A significant point of appreciation among diners is the fact that the dim sum served at Xin Ding Dumpling House is all made in-house. This dedication to crafting their dim sum from scratch is evident in the superior quality and freshness of each bite, setting them apart and contributing to the overall authentic dining experience.
The generous portion sizes at Xin Ding Dumpling House are another aspect frequently mentioned in customer reviews. Diners often find themselves with ample food to enjoy during their meal and even enough to take home for later, offering excellent value for money. This abundance ensures that whether you are dining alone or with a group, you are likely to leave feeling satisfied and well-fed.
While the food at Xin Ding Dumpling House consistently receives high marks, some customers have noted areas for potential improvement in the service. Reviews suggest that while the service isn't necessarily poor, it could be more attentive and prompt. Some diners have experienced instances of waiting longer than expected to gain a server's attention or having to repeat requests. However, it's important to note that these comments do not detract significantly from the overall positive impression created by the exceptional quality of the food.
Another practical consideration for potential visitors is the parking situation. Xin Ding Dumpling House is located in an area where parking is limited to street parking only. Depending on the time of day, finding a convenient parking spot nearby can sometimes be a challenge. It is advisable to factor this into your travel plans, especially during peak dining hours.
Despite these minor drawbacks related to service and parking, the overwhelming consensus among customers is that the exceptional food at Xin Ding Dumpling House makes it a worthwhile destination. The authentic flavors, the freshness of the ingredients, particularly the homemade dim sum, and the generous portions all contribute to a memorable dining experience. Many reviewers express their intention to return, eager to explore more of the diverse offerings on the menu and hoping for an even smoother service experience on their next visit.
In summary, Xin Ding Dumpling House 鑫鼎轩 offers a genuine taste of Chinese cuisine in Portland. Its strengths lie in its authentic and flavorful food, especially the dumplings, Chongqing Hot Chicken, and the house-made dim sum. The generous portion sizes provide excellent value. While service and parking might present minor inconveniences, the quality of the food remains the primary draw, making it a reliable and delicious spot for anyone seeking an authentic Chinese culinary adventure. Great authentic food! Visited with my Chinese family and we all enjoyed it. The dumplings are great but the best dish was the Dry Pot cauliflowers. Portion sizes are also generous, we ended up taking leftovers to go for dinner. Excellent and friendly service as well. Great, reliable spot for a quick but delicious meal.
We had an amazing experience overall, mostly thanks to the incredible food. Every single dish we ordered was fresh and flavorful. We tried the fried rice, the Chongqing Style Hot Chicken, Pork Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings, Pork Buns, Shrimp Shumai, and the stir-fried eggplant & string beans, and honestly, there wasn’t a single miss on the table. Best of all the portions were big. The Chongqing Style Hot Chicken stood out , crispy, spicy, and full of bold flavors that made it hard to stop eating. The Xiao Long Bao, the pork buns and Shrimp Shumai all had a great texture and tasted super fresh. The stir fried eggplant and string beans was amazing as well. One of the highlights was knowing that the dim sum is all house made, you can really taste the difference in the quality and freshness. That said, the experience wasn’t perfect. The service left something to be desired. It wasn’t terrible, but it could definitely be more attentive and prompt. There were a few times we had to wait longer than expected to get a server’s attention or request something more than once. Also, parking is a bit of a hassle since it’s limited to street parking only. Depending on the time you go, it can be a bit stressful trying to find a spot nearby. Despite those issues, the food alone makes this place worth visiting. I’d absolutely come back again, and next time we hope for a more attentive service experience. Can’t wait to try other things in their menu.
I love that this restaurant is open so late - perfect place to stop in and enjoy a good meal (even if it is 1am). We ordered the sweet and spicy chicken, though it was pretty much like a milder version of orange chicken, it was still delicious and the portions were GREAT for the price. Real family sized portions here. The soup dumplings were yummy, although a tad of the doughy side (still would recommend though). I also love that true dim sum is still served late night and not just in the morning like some other places. Shrimp dishes were cooked perfectly as well. I'll definitely be coming back!
Xin Ding is an exquisite dining experience! This was my first time dining in, and the food is so good the line out the door didn't deter me in the slightest. The Broccoli Chicken is the best I have ever had. It's so simple, but the flavor is incredible! The green onion pancake, dumplings, wonton and xiao long bao were all equally phenomenal. The custard bun was new to me, and it was quite delicious!
We have been here a couple of times and every time we have thoroughly enjoyed everything we have ordered. The Wonton in Chilli Sauce are so moorish! The plates are a great size and you will definitely not leave feeling hungry. The staff too are very friendly and attentive and the food came out pretty quickly. A definite two thumbs up from me!
