About Xiang's Hunan Kitchen
Xiang's Hunan Kitchen is a Chinese restaurant located at 1032 Commonwealth Ave, Boston, MA 02215, USA. They can be contacted at (617) 202-5498 or +1 617-202-5498.
This Chinese restaurant specializes in authentic Hunan cuisine, with one reviewer who was raised in Changsha noting it is the "real deal" and offers a great selection of Hunan dishes, including some not commonly found elsewhere in the United States. Standout dishes mentioned include the eggplant with pi dan, the la rou (cured meat), and the lotus root, all praised for their great flavors that evoke the taste of Changsha.
While one reviewer found the fried chicken to be bursting with flavor (albeit a little salty) and the cauliflower dish to be great, they found the noodles disappointing due to a less flavorful broth and a textural issue with the peppers. However, the overall consensus suggests that ordering Hunan specialty dishes is highly recommended at this establishment.
Generally, the service appears to be efficient, with one table of four being served quickly and food arriving in a timely manner. However, one customer reported a significant wait time due to a temporary internet service disruption affecting online orders, which may have caused delays for in-person orders. It is advisable to inquire about the ordering process and potential wait times, especially if there are any technical issues reported.
Overall, Xiang's Hunan Kitchen is recommended for those seeking genuine Hunan flavors and a diverse menu of regional specialties. Dishes like the eggplant with pi dan, la rou, lotus root, spicy fried chicken, and cauliflower have received positive feedback for their authentic and bold tastes.

Customer Reviews
I was raised in Changsha so I've been searching for an authentic Hunan restaurant for years and years in both New York and Boston, and I have to say this restaurant is the real deal. They had a great selection of Hunan dishes and a lot of things I've never seen anywhere else in the States. Of the food we ordered, the eggplant with pi dan, the la rou, and the lotus root were all standouts. The flavors were great and really brought me back to Changsha. Can't speak for some of the things on the menu that other reviewers are saying weren't good but would recommend ordering more Hunan specialty dishes at this place. The service wasn't bad for us either- they served our table of 4 pretty quickly and food didn't take long either. Overall would definitely come back and would highly recommend!!
A very nice and flavourful chinese restaurant! The fried chicken was bursting with flavour, almost too much since it was a tiny bit too salty. But it was so so good! Crunchy, umami, and spicy perfection! The noodles were a bit disappointing, the broth didn’t have too much flavour and the peppers didn’t really mesh well with the rest of the dish. They were just interrupting my flow of chewing, if that makes sense. The broth wasn’t too flavorful, it was just spicy for no reason. That being said, the noodles weren’t that flavorful either. Finally, the cauliflower dish was great, no complaints. The cauliflower was crunchy, spicy, and flavorful. Great food overall. The only thing that I’m actually not that happy about was the wait time. But, they did mention that their internet service was down at the moment, so because we didn’t place our order through the online ordering method which is what they usually accept, they probably forgot about our order because I waited about an HOUR for my food. Which is a very very long time. I was starving and other people who sat down after me got their food before me. I just wish they had a server come and help us because the internet being down made our experiences much longer than needed and much more of a hassle. I hope it doesn’t happen again.
Probably the most authentic Hunan restaurant I’ve been to in the US! The menu is full of common Hunanese dishes that are usually difficult to find, and I was impressed by the quality and flavor of almost everything we ordered. The 梅菜扣肉(pork belly with preserved vegetables) was perfectly fatty and seasoned without being too greasy. They even have rice shaomai (vs the typical meat-filled ones you see in dim sum). The crawfish is probably the only dish I wouldn’t reorder again, it felt a little overcooked and flavor of the crawfish meat wasn’t as fresh or yummy as I hoped. The restaurant has seating on two levels and was not too busy on a summer Friday evening.
I believe this restaurant is really authentic Chinese food by the flavors. Also, the food here is so flavorful! I will definitely come back to this Hunan restaurant.
One of the best Chinese restaurant in Boston! Really into the food here, made me feel like back in hometown. It’s also really cheap.
