About Xi'an Street Food

Xi'an Street Food is a Chinese restaurant located at 159 Dryden Rd in Ithaca, NY. As a local Chinese restaurant, Xi'an Street Food focuses on bringing the flavors of Xi'an cuisine to the community, with a particular emphasis on noodle dishes.

According to one customer review, the hand-pulled biangbiang noodles were a highlight, described as "really good," chewy, and having a nice sauce. This reviewer also mentioned accidentally receiving pork instead of beef but found the meat to be exceptionally tender. The dumplings were also noted as being good. Furthermore, the atmosphere of the restaurant was likened to being inside a "cute C-drama," suggesting a pleasant and unique ambiance.

However, another recent review reported a severe sanitation problem. This customer ordered Braised Beef Noodle, Spicy Pepper Chicken Noodle, and Spicy Cumin Lamb Noodles in Lamb Soup. While the Beef and Chicken Noodles consumed at the restaurant were satisfactory, upon transferring the takeout Lamb Noodle Soup to a personal container, the customer discovered "lots of clipped hairs." The reviewer emphasized that these hairs appeared to be from a hair clipper, suggesting a potential issue during food preparation. This experience was described as "disgusting," and the reviewer strongly recommended against patronizing the restaurant due to this sanitation concern.

In summary, Xi'an Street Food in Ithaca is known for its hand-pulled biangbiang noodles and dumplings, and offers an atmosphere reminiscent of a C-drama. However, a significant recent report of a sanitation issue involving hair found in a takeout order raises serious concerns about food safety and hygiene practices at the restaurant. Potential customers should consider this recent negative feedback alongside the positive comments regarding the food quality and ambiance.

The hand-pulled biangbiang noodles were really good, so chewy and nice flavor from the sauce! I think I accidentally got pork instead of beef but the meat was so good, way more tender and melt-in-your-mouth than I’d expect. Dumplings were good too. The atmosphere inside feels like a restaurant in a cute C-drama.

SANITATION PROBLEM - We visited the place first time and ordered Braised Beef Noodle, Spicy Pepper Chicken Noodle and Spicy Cumin Lamb Noodles in Lamb Soup. We ate Beef and Chicken Noodles at the restaurant and both noodles were good. We took the Lamb Noodle Soup to home as a take out. When transfer the Lamb Noodle Soup to a glass container for microwaving, we noticed a hair. We thought it was only one but when we looked at carefully, there were lots of clipped hairs. I am using clipped hairs because they were not like regular hairs. It looks like someone cut hair with a hair clipper while preparing the dish. I tried to take the pictures of hairs inside the container and separated hairs on the paper towel. Something like this never happened before. It was disgusting. We will probably not see the hairs if we use their single use black take out containers but they can be seen on the white surfaces. DON’T RECOMMENDED.

It's usually packed with students getting an authentic taste of Chinese cuisine known for thick noodles and extreme flavors. Recommend the lamb and cumin biang biang noodles for the heat, the braised beef soup noodles, the cold noodles with extra spicy chili oil sauce and the pork buns. All were very authentic according to my Chinese wife. I personally can't tell. I just know it was all delicious. That plus a coke and a coconut milk drink ~ $58 with tips. Reasonable given how much food we got.

Great food. Freshly made came out super hot and in about 5 minutes so really quick. I got the medium spicy noodles along with the spicy chicken so it was SPICY but perfect for my taste. Just be cautious if you’re sensitive to heat. The only thing I wish was a bit larger portion for the protein. Seemed like it was half the size of a chicken breast. Otherwise this place was amazing!

Chill place. You order up front and eat at the tables. Food is AMAZING. The Biang Biang Noodles are out of this world. The texture is so chewy and well executed. The Taiwanese Braised Pork tastes great as well. My only gripe is I wish the mincing wasn't so fine so I could pick up pieces with my chopsticks more easily. The curry lamb is legit. Warning tho. The spicy scale is ASIAN spicy scale, not Ithaca spicy. I eat and enjoy spicy foods all the time so I thought I was ok ordering medium spicy. Although still very enjoyable, my nose was running, head and body sweating, and mouth burning the whole time. My wife and I will be back for sure. But next time Mild level of spice 😂
