About Xi'an Sizzling Woks

Xi'an Sizzling Woks is a restaurant located at 4000 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19104, USA, offering meal delivery and dine-in services. While categorized under Chinese Restaurants, customer reviews provide insights into their food quality and service. They can be contacted at (215) 222-9777 or +1 215-222-9777.

One customer who visited early found the waitress "Very nice" and the restaurant not crowded. They enjoyed the "shrimp and scallop with shiitake mushrooms," noting it included "Scallops are cut into thin strips so probably two large ones total. Three large shrimp. Comes with rice." They also tried "The special had everything from meatballs, chicken, shrimp to bok choy, noodles and more," describing it as a "Very large portion!"

However, another reviewer found "The food is just okay, I can’t say great because I have tried the same dishes from couple of other Chinese restaurant’s as well, some where super delicious." They specifically commented on the "shredded chicken with garlic sauce," stating, "As you can see more than half of the ‘shredded chicken with garlic sauce’ was broccolis. I find that a bit weird." They also reviewed the "Dan Dan noodles," noting, "I felt excess seasoning, the taste of a single spice felt more than needed." Despite these criticisms, they concluded, "Anyway, of course you can try these dishes because they are still okay and not bad."

Based on these reviews, Xi'an Sizzling Woks in Philadelphia, PA, offers friendly service, particularly from the waitstaff. Portions, especially for the special, are noted as very large. The shrimp and scallop with shiitake mushrooms is considered good. However, the overall food quality is perceived as just okay by some, not reaching the level of 'great' when compared to other Chinese restaurants. Specific dishes like the shredded chicken with garlic sauce (having a high broccoli to chicken ratio) and the Dan Dan noodles (with potentially overpowering seasoning) have received criticism. Despite these points, the food is still considered acceptable by at least one reviewer. Local users looking for large portions and are willing to try dishes that might be inconsistently rated could consider Xi'an Sizzling Woks for meal delivery or dine-in.

The environment was described as not crowded during an early visit. Services include dine-in (with nice waitstaff) and meal delivery. Key features include large portion sizes (especially for the special), and dishes like shrimp and scallop with shiitake mushrooms being considered good. Potential drawbacks are the overall food quality being just okay (not great), a high broccoli to chicken ratio in the shredded chicken with garlic sauce, and potentially overpowering seasoning in the Dan Dan noodles. No specific promotional information is available in the provided text.

Very nice waitress. We were there early so it wasn't crowded. The shrimp and scallop with shiitake mushrooms was good. Scallops are cut into thin strips so probably two large ones total. Three large shrimp. Comes with rice. The special had everything from meatballs, chicken, shrimp to bok choy, noodles and more. Very large portion!

I found the dine-in experience to be very pleasant and friendly and comforting. The waitress was very helpful and responsive to everything that we wanted. We got strawberry smoothies, mapo tofu, dumplings in chili oil, veggie fried rice, wonton soup and biang biang noodles plus a couple other drinks. (About $75 before tip.) Everything was pretty good. It has a comfort food feeling and everything has a good flavor. The handmade noodles are a perfect texture. The brown sauce on the dumplings tasted sort of like jerk chicken sauce, which was fine, but not the flavors we were thinking of when ordering. We’ve ordered take out and delivery before and it was always good, but I definitely prefer the dine-in experience. (FYI, Food wasn’t as flavorful leftover as it was fresh.)

Small quiet Chinese restaurant with a second location in Chinatown. I’ve been coming here for years, could never figure out why their ratings are so low. If you’re looking for affordable authentic Chinese food, xian is the place to go. Joy is always very nice to me whenever I am there. You can’t get good biang biang mien anywhere but here in my opinion!

Walked in for dine in but felt like a sauna so did take out instead. Chinese hamburger was not as good as the one I had back in Xian, China, but that’s to be expected. Other dishes were acceptable but nothing too impressive.
