This food left me absolutely speechless. The spicy lamb noodles and the dumplings were better than anything else I’ve ever had. I don’t even know what to say. It was almost so good that thinking about it makes me want to cry. I think on my gravestone I’m going to put “Loves Xi’an Famous Foods”. That’s all I have to say.

There are just so many regional types of Chinese food and I love the concept here - raising the profile of one of the less common ones in a fast casual setting that remains very authentic. It is best if you enjoy spicy food - none of it is really overpowering but it does have a nice kick. I really enjoy the noodles and the sauces are really flavorful. I also tried the dumplings on this recent visit, and I was less a fan but the noodles are fire!

The upper east location is NOT clean. Had spicy tofu and spicy beef noodle from this location on the evening of Oct 10, felt nauseous right after eating. Then the next day, loss of appetite, diarrhea 10 times. Had to rush to the ER, stool test positive for E.coli and rotavirus. I used to like this place, but something's definitely messed up recently. Update after owner's response: Hey Jason, I'm calling you out! Firstly, your comments about washing hands is both condescending and ridiculous. I'm not a 3-year-old, don't need you to teach me proper hygiene. Also, I was eating with chopsticks. Jason, if the source of the infection really came from my hand, would you please enlighten me on how the heck did I get food poisoning without my hands even touching the food? Perhaps in Jason's world, bacteria just magically teleport? Good for you, go write some science fiction then. Secondly, why do you think the hospital staff never told me that symptoms can appear anytime within 72 hours after getting infected? I tell you what, they did tell me EXACTLY that. But, this is NOT the first time I got sick from eating at this location. First picture is a receipt showing me ordering on Sept 30. Felt super nauseous + multiple diarrhea the next day, no appetite whatsoever, so I went to a clinic and they gave me ondansetron (second pic) to ease my symptoms. You see Jason, I'm not like you, I don't jump to conclusions and assuming things. I did NOT blame it on your food at that time, EXACTLY BECAUSE the doctor told me that symptoms don't necessarily show up right after getting infected. So, 10 days later, I went again (lost the receipt but purchase record on the 3rd image). I had similar symptoms (nausea and diarrhea), but more severe. Stool test results (4th image) showing E. coli and Rotavirus detected. Now, given that I had similar symptoms both times eating the SAME food, the doctor made an educated conclusion that the food from that location is NOT clean. I take the subway EVERYDAY and was fine for many years. I ate at your place twice in two weeks and got sick twice in two weeks. Jason, do you still think I got the food poisoning from the subway?? Jason, judging from your previous reply, I know exactly what you are gonna say: "Perhaps your guts are just too sensitive, you just can't handle our AWESOME spicy sauce!" Ah, no no no~ I in fact consume spicy food (and oily food) on a regular basis, and I never had nausea or severe diarrhea like this before. So STOP RUNNING AWAY FROM THE PROBLEM, ADDRESS IT! The food you are serving is contaminated sometimes, if you are a decent person, you SHOULD be concerned! I'm a young man, I can take some beatings fine. But what if a pregnant lady gets sick from your food? What about a fragile old man? What about a cancer patient? Think about it! Thirdly, why are you implying that I'm targeting your place because it's a Chinese business? I myself am Chinese, I'm more than happy to support my fellow Chinese brothers and sisters if they are indeed operating businesses that improve people's lives. But looks like your business is making people's lives miserable (my life at least). I lost 5kg and felt a lot weaker after getting sick twice eating at your place! And you want me to not call you out just because you are Chinese? Lastly, why are you (or maybe one of your employees) checking my LinkedIn profile? Doesn't matter who I am or what I do, your restaurant has food safety issue that needs to be addressed. Your time is better spent improving your kitchen's cleanness than stalking my LinkedIn or writing condescending replies. Initially, I was not gonna write an essay for a Google review. I was hoping you can take it seriously and ensure food safety. But since your reply was so condescending AND you showed no sign of concern for food safety, I feel obliged to fight back and provide more details so that others do not get food poison like I do. I hope you do the right thing and don't make more people sick!

The quality, and specifically freshness of ingredients has been on the decline. The signature Liang Pi "Cold-Skin Noodles" (A1), greens often have black slime, and there aren't many cucumbers and what is there are mushy. Also the service is lacking at this location, the staff insists on the use of the order-kiosk, but it can be non-responsive and can not accept gift cards, so often you need to enter your order in the kiosk, then tell the cashier again.
