About Wonton King
Wonton King, a Chinese restaurant situated at 8116 Olive Blvd, University City, MO 63130, USA, serves the local community with a range of Chinese culinary offerings. The restaurant can be contacted via phone at (314) 567-9997 or +1 314-567-9997. As a Chinese restaurant, it aims to provide a variety of dishes for dine-in or takeout, catering to the demand for Asian cuisine in the area.
The information provided does not offer extensive details regarding the interior environment of Wonton King. However, as a typical Chinese restaurant in a bustling area like Olive Boulevard, it likely features a functional dining space designed to accommodate both individual diners and groups. The emphasis, as is common with many local Chinese establishments, might lean more towards efficient food preparation and service, particularly for takeout and delivery orders. Without specific descriptions, it is presumed to offer a standard, unassuming atmosphere that prioritizes the culinary experience over elaborate decor. The focus of customer feedback tends to be on the food quality and service aspects rather than the physical ambiance, suggesting that the environment is secondary to the meal itself for most patrons.
In terms of services, Wonton King appears to offer both dine-in and popular delivery options, as indicated by a customer's experience ordering through DoorDash. This suggests that the restaurant is integrated with modern delivery platforms, catering to the convenience of customers who prefer to enjoy their meals at home. The staff's responsiveness to customer concerns is highlighted by the experience of a patron who called the restaurant regarding an issue with their order. While the specific resolution is part of a negative review, it does demonstrate that the restaurant is reachable and engages with customer feedback, even if the outcome might not always be satisfactory to the customer. This engagement suggests a typical customer service approach for a local eatery, handling inquiries and issues directly. The primary service model is likely centered around efficient order taking, food preparation, and delivery or pickup facilitation.
Wonton King features a menu that includes well-known Chinese dishes, striving to cater to varied tastes. One customer specifically mentioned ordering orange chicken, noting that "the flavor was very good." This is a popular and often sought-after dish in Chinese American cuisine, and a positive assessment of its flavor indicates a strength in preparing classic, comforting items. The same customer also found the wonton soup to be "good," suggesting that traditional appetizers and soups meet a satisfactory standard. However, a significant concern raised by a customer involved the spring rolls, which were described as containing "completely raw" meat (shrimp and pork). This is a critical issue that points to a potential lapse in food safety and preparation quality. Such an experience can severely impact customer trust and willingness to return. The restaurant's response to this specific incident, confirming the ingredients, highlights an acknowledgment of the item but doesn't detail the corrective action taken to resolve the food safety issue for the customer. This disparity in feedback, from positively reviewed main dishes and soups to a serious concern about an appetizer, indicates variability in kitchen execution. The "too much sauce" comment on the orange chicken, while minor, also points to individual preferences that might vary among diners.
Regarding promotional information, the provided customer reviews do not detail any explicit promotional campaigns, discounts, or special offers from Wonton King. Like many local Chinese restaurants, its primary form of promotion likely relies on its menu offerings, word-of-mouth, and its presence on popular food delivery platforms like DoorDash. The ability to order through such services inherently acts as a form of promotion, increasing visibility and accessibility to a wider customer base. For customers seeking familiar Chinese dishes like orange chicken or wonton soup, the restaurant's availability and mentioned quality for certain items would serve as an attractive feature. However, the severe negative feedback regarding raw food could significantly hinder any positive word-of-mouth promotion and potentially deter new customers, overriding other positive aspects. A restaurant's commitment to food safety and consistent quality across all menu items is paramount for its long-term success and positive public perception. Without further information, it's difficult to assess any other specific marketing strategies employed by Wonton King beyond its fundamental operations as a Chinese restaurant providing a menu of traditional dishes.
In conclusion, Wonton King at 8116 Olive Blvd in University City, MO, is a Chinese restaurant that offers a range of classic dishes, available for both dine-in and popular delivery services. While some main dishes like the orange chicken and wonton soup have received positive remarks for their flavor, a severe concern regarding undercooked spring rolls has been raised by a customer, highlighting potential inconsistencies in food preparation and safety standards. The environment appears to be functional and unembellished, typical of a neighborhood eatery. The restaurant engages with customer feedback, though the effectiveness of these interactions in resolving significant issues is not fully detailed. Overall, Wonton King provides accessible Chinese cuisine in the area, but potential customers should be aware of the varying experiences reported by diners regarding specific menu items and overall quality control.

Customer Reviews
I ordered Wonton King through DoorDash and one of the items I ordered was the spring rolls. I took a bite into the spring roll and realized the texture was strange, so I cut into it and realized the meat inside was completely raw. I called the restaurant and she said it contained shrimp and pork. I am absolutely shocked to have been delivered spring rolls with raw meat and would not recommend anyone to go to this restaurant.
Great Chinese restaurant. I had the orange chicken, and the flavor was very good. There is a little too much sauce for my liking, but it's definitely good. Wonton soup was good.
I recently visited Wonton King after hearing many positive reviews, but unfortunately, my experience did not live up to the hype. I arrived on a quiet afternoon and was told by the server to seat myself. The first red flag was the condition of the condiment bottles, which were sticky and unclean, not the best start for any dining experience. I ordered the house special noodle, which was average at best-nothing special about the dish. To my disappointment, there was no follow-up to check if I was satisfied with the meal. The service further declined when another server presented the bill while I was still eating. When I requested an itemized bill, she outright refused, which I found unprofessional. Another aspect that puzzled me was the rave reviews about the owner's friendliness. Throughout my visit, the owner was seated at a table, seemingly preoccupied on the phone. There was zero interaction, leaving me wondering what all the buzz was about. Overall, the visit was disappointing and I will not be returning to Wonton King.
