About Wong's Kitchen

Welcome to Wong's Kitchen, a family-owned Chinese restaurant located at 125 Silver Lake Rd NW, New Brighton, MN 55112, USA. As a local Chinese establishment in the New Brighton area, Wong's Kitchen primarily serves takeout customers. You can place your order by calling them at (651) 636-2272 or their mobile number +1 651-636-2272.

Based on recent customer reviews, experiences at Wong's Kitchen have been largely negative, indicating significant concerns regarding food quality and safety. One customer expressed a strong initial desire to like the restaurant, noting its convenient location and family ownership. However, their experience with the food was disappointing. They found the chicken to be quite tough and the rice to be bland. While they were initially willing to overlook these issues due to the reasonable prices, their experience with the pork wonton appetizer was particularly negative. They described it in extremely unflattering terms, comparing its texture and appearance to "wet cat food" but noting that it was completely dry. This customer stated that they ate very little of their meal and, despite the kindness of the lady handling the to-go orders, they could not recommend the restaurant due to the poor food quality.

Another review was even more alarming, consisting of a concise and direct statement: "TLDR: Food poisoning." This severe accusation followed a description of a subsequent order that included sesame chicken, egg rolls, and cream cheese wontons. The customer mentioned a positive first experience that led them to order again via a delivery service. However, they reported feeling that something was "off" while eating the second order and subsequently experienced food poisoning. They described the chicken as extra greasy and tough, the egg rolls as tasting strange, and the wontons as "insanely stale." The overall impression was that the food tasted like leftovers that had been recooked. Adding to these serious food quality concerns, the reviewer also mentioned a disturbing claim from their husband about the restaurant having a "history of cockroaches," leading them to vow never to order from Wong's Kitchen again.

The provided reviews paint a concerning picture of Wong's Kitchen. The issues raised go beyond mere dissatisfaction with taste or texture, with one review explicitly alleging food poisoning and another describing severely unappetizing food. The contrast between the kindness of the staff member and the poor quality of the food highlights a potential disconnect between the service provided and the standards of food preparation. The mention of a possible history of pest issues further compounds the negative impression.

The reviews do not provide any information about the restaurant's environment or ambiance, as both experiences seem to be related to takeout orders. Therefore, it is not possible to comment on the cleanliness or atmosphere of the dining space. Similarly, there is no information regarding any special features of the restaurant, such as unique menu items or preparation techniques, beyond the specific dishes mentioned in the negative reviews. No promotional information was included in the provided text.

In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for Wong's Kitchen in New Brighton, MN, raise significant concerns about the quality and safety of their food. Multiple issues have been reported, including tough chicken, bland rice, extremely unappetizing pork wontons, greasy and strange-tasting chicken and egg rolls, and stale wontons. Most seriously, one review explicitly alleges food poisoning and mentions a purported history of cockroaches. While one customer noted the kindness of the staff, this positive aspect is overshadowed by the serious negative feedback regarding the food itself. Local users considering ordering from Wong's Kitchen should be aware of these recent and serious concerns.

Given the nature of the negative feedback, particularly the allegation of food poisoning and the description of severely unappetizing food, it would be prudent for potential customers to exercise extreme caution when considering Wong's Kitchen. The reported issues suggest significant problems with food quality control and hygiene practices. While the restaurant is family-owned and conveniently located for some, the risks highlighted in the recent reviews may outweigh these factors. It is recommended to thoroughly consider these reviews before placing an order.

If you still wish to contact Wong's Kitchen, you can call them at (651) 636-2272 or +1 651-636-2272. They are located at 125 Silver Lake Rd NW in New Brighton, MN. However, in light of the serious negative feedback regarding their food, it would be wise to proceed with caution and perhaps consider alternative Chinese restaurants in the area with more consistently positive reviews.

Man, I really really wanted to like this place. It's five minutes from our house, and family owned. The food we got was partly okay, chicken was pretty tough, rice was pretty bland, we were gonna gloss over that because the prices were pretty good, but the pork wonton appetizer made me laugh out loud in disbelief. I hate leaving bad reviews but honestly what are thooooose 😭 reminiscent of wet cat food, except it was completely dry. We didn't eat much of our food. The lady handing out to go orders was so very nice, we really really wanted to love it.

TLDR: Food poisoning. Sesame chicken, egg rolls, cream cheese wontons. First time I ordered from them was good so I felt safe door dashing from them a second time. IMMEDIATELY got food poisoning. I knew as I was eating it something was off. The chicken was extra greasy and tough, the egg rolls tasted off. The wontons were insanely stale. Everything felt like I was eating someone else’s two day old recooked dish. My husband then told me that they’ve had a history of cockroaches. Never again.

Man the fried rice is the worst I’ve come across! Mashed up, With clumps no flavor. Just really really bad. You see the photos!! Fire the cook or whoever dished out this slop. The lady is nice though. Won’t be coming back ever!

This place needs to be shut down! The Health Department has been notified. Start cleaning your place and throw out all the old food you have had in your refrigerator and Freezer. I went with a freind yesterday and we sat down and ordered. It took less than 1 minute to get our food. Obviously it was made days before we came in. It was mushy, slimy, stale and absolutely the worst food we have ever had. I wouldn't even call it Chinese food. We asked for water and it came wit a couple pieces of ice in it. The water had a metal flavor. We each took 1 bite, looked at each other and started to laugh. We asked for to go containers, paid, left and threw the food away. The customer service was really bad and the place is filthy. Holes in the walls. I don't even think Gordon Ramsey could help this place. I know the Health Department will shut them down!

I'm sorry but this was the worst chinese food I have ever had. We ordered one hundred dollars worth of food for new years eve. The sweet and sour chicken was like jerky, the lo mein had Ramen noodles, the egg rolls were dry and tough and the chow mein was brown mush. Terrible
