About wonderful

Nestled on Broadway Avenue in Millbrae, CA, a street noted for its vibrant array of Asian dining options, Wonderful Restaurant has been a cherished culinary destination for nearly ten years. This establishment, operating under the platform category of Chinese Restaurant, has left a lasting impression on its patrons with its interesting menu and consistently flavorful dishes. For local users seeking a reliable and enjoyable Chinese dining experience, Wonderful offers a blend of familiar and unique tastes.

One long-time customer, who was introduced to Wonderful nearly a decade ago, attests to the restaurant's enduring appeal. While acknowledging the diverse culinary landscape of Broadway in Millbrae, this reviewer specifically highlights Wonderful as a memorable experience. Their personal favorite is the beef noodle soup, a classic and comforting dish. Interestingly, they also mention a past preference for a customized version of this soup, substituting the beef with shrimp. However, they note that it has been a while since their last order of this variation, suggesting that its current availability might need to be confirmed with the restaurant directly.

Beyond specific dishes, this reviewer also points out practical aspects of the dining experience at Wonderful. They mention the availability of clean restrooms, a detail that often contributes to overall customer comfort and satisfaction. Additionally, they bring attention to a somewhat "incognito" lunch menu, advising that it might need to be specifically requested. This suggests that Wonderful may offer special lunch deals or a distinct set of dishes during their lunchtime service that are not immediately apparent. Wonderful's location is further clarified as being just off LA Cruz, on Broadway Avenue in Millbrae, providing precise directions for those unfamiliar with the area.

Another enthusiastic reviewer describes Wonderful as a "nice clean homey Chinese restaurant serving human dishes," an endearing way to convey a welcoming and genuine atmosphere. This reviewer was particularly captivated by a unique element referred to as "smork," proclaiming it the "best smork I ever tasted." Intrigued by this flavor, their stated goal is to return and explore all the dishes on the menu that feature "smork," praising its "nice smoky flavor." This suggests a distinctive ingredient or preparation method that sets Wonderful apart and is a significant draw for this customer.

Further delving into their culinary experience, the same reviewer mentioned ordering cilantro with shredded beef. They noted that the beef was prepared in a way that is often a good sign of an authentic Chinese restaurant – thinly cut or sliced rather than in larger chunks. This preparation allows for better flavor absorption and a more delicate texture. Another dish that evoked strong positive emotions was the steamed egg, which the reviewer and their wife found to be reminiscent of what they had back in US, triggering cherished "childhood memories!" This highlights Wonderful's ability to deliver authentic flavors that resonate deeply with those familiar with USese cuisine.

A significant reason for this reviewer's willingness to travel from the South Bay to dine at Wonderful is the fact that their dishes are "NOT oily like other Hunan places in South bay...or Chinese restaurants in general." This addresses a common concern among diners seeking healthier or less greasy options in Chinese cuisine. The reviewer characterizes Wonderful as a "family style restaurant" and acknowledges that it is "not exactly cheap." However, they firmly believe that "the quality of the dishes well justifies the price," ultimately concluding that the experience is "Worth it!"

Considering the environment of Wonderful Restaurant, the description of a "nice clean homey Chinese restaurant" suggests a comfortable and unpretentious setting. The term "family style restaurant" further implies an atmosphere that is welcoming to groups and encourages sharing of dishes. While not explicitly detailed, the emphasis on cleanliness and a homey feel points towards a pleasant and inviting space for diners.

The services at Wonderful appear to be efficient and accommodating, as evidenced by the positive experiences of the reviewers. The mention of clean restrooms indicates attention to basic customer needs. The willingness of the restaurant to potentially customize dishes, as suggested by the beef noodle soup with shrimp substitution, implies a degree of flexibility. The existence of a separate lunch menu, even if "incognito," shows a tailored offering for daytime diners. The overall impression is of a restaurant that values customer satisfaction and provides a comfortable dining experience.

A key feature of Wonderful Restaurant is undoubtedly its unique menu and the quality of its dishes. The "smork"-infused items are a significant draw, offering a distinct smoky flavor that has captivated at least one reviewer. The authentic USese-style steamed egg provides a taste of home for those familiar with that cuisine. The preparation of the cilantro with shredded beef, with its thinly sliced beef, showcases attention to traditional Chinese cooking techniques. The customizable beef noodle soup, if still available with shrimp, offers a personalized touch. Furthermore, the commitment to not being overly oily sets Wonderful apart from many other Chinese restaurants, appealing to health-conscious diners.

Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the customer reviews. The mention of a "sorta incognito" lunch menu suggests that there might be special offerings or pricing during lunchtime, but the specifics are not detailed. Local users interested in learning more about the lunch menu or any other potential promotions are encouraged to contact Wonderful Restaurant directly at (650) 651-8888 or via their mobile number at +1 650-651-8888.

In conclusion, Wonderful Restaurant in Millbrae offers a compelling dining experience for local users seeking delicious and unique Chinese flavors. With a history of nearly a decade of satisfied customers, Wonderful stands out for its interesting menu, including the intriguing "smork"-flavored dishes and authentic USese steamed egg. The option to customize the popular beef noodle soup (potentially with shrimp), the clean environment, and the family-style atmosphere contribute to its appeal. While the lunch menu might require a specific request, the overall quality of the food, which is notably less oily than many other Chinese restaurants, justifies the price for many patrons. For a memorable and flavorful Chinese meal in Millbrae, Wonderful Restaurant is certainly worth a visit.

Broadway avenue in Millbrae CA., has many fantastic Asian restaurants to enjoy. A few friends introduced me to Wonderful nearly 10 years ago and I never forgot it. Their menu is interesting and everything tastes good. Though my personal delight is their Beef noodle soup, I like to substitute the beef with shrimp. Now the last time I had it that way, was long ago. Perhaps they don't make it with shrimp anymore, you'll have to ask if want to try that dish. A couple of more things. They do have clean restrooms, and their lunch menu is sorta incognito. You may have to request it. Wonderful is just off LA Cruz, on Broadway avenue in Millbrae CA.

A nice clean homey Chinese restaurant serving human dishes. I will say they have the best smork I ever tasted. My goal is to return and try all their dishes that have smork in it cuz it's got nice smoky flavor. We also had cilantro with shredded beef. The beef is thinly cut/sliced instead of bigger chunks. A great sign for a Chinese place. The steam egg is just like what my wife and I had back in Taiwan. Childhood memories! Another reason i would happily drive from South bay to eat here again is their dish is NOT oily like other Hunan places in South bay...or Chinese restaurants in general. It's family style restaurant and it's not exactly cheap. The quality of the dishes well justifies the price. Worth it!

An authentic Chinese food restaurant specialized in the spicy ones from Hunan. They have two desks for dining outside, which might be available for bringing the dog. They have special Smoked Pork as they are in special taste. We try the ones with the cauliflower in the fancy pot as it's really tasty. The cilantro beef is great and in a large dish. The green onion pancake is the kind of Chinese flour taco with chopped pork. A good experience here in the Michelin restaurant. One thing to mention is that the staff are too busy to take care of our demands...We spent a lot of time waiting for services.

This place is indeed wonderful. The food here tastes amazing. I myself likes Sichuan level of spiciness so the "spicy" food here is not that spicy to me. So come with the right expectation. Still other than the spiciness, the food itself is in high quality. The highlights for me are "smork", the smoke pork here is indeed smoky. It might be the smokiest thing I ever ate rather than the smoke itself lol. It tastes well with the tofu in the dish we ordered. The deep fried intestine is tasty with a kick. All the flour dishes like the pancake and noodles are good chewy as expected from a good Hunan place. This place indeed deserves the wait and the Michelin Bib Gourmant.

Wonderful in Millbrae truly lives up to its name. Almost a decade ago, I used to commute between the city and the peninsula, and this spot became my go-to for dinner to beat the traffic. It’s easily one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the Bay Area. My top recommendation is the steamed tofu fish dish. It’s huge, super flavorful, and well worth the 20-30 minute wait (since they steam it fresh to order). I also highly recommend their wings and onion pancakes—both are equally delicious.
