About Wok Star Chinese

Wok Star Chinese is a restaurant located at 8041 Walnut Hill Ln suite 854, Dallas, TX 75231, USA, categorized as a Chinese restaurant. Based on online reviews, customer experiences appear to be varied.

One reviewer gave the food quality and taste a 3-star rating, while awarding 5 stars for other aspects of their visit. They noted that the serving sizes were great, even for lunch, and suitable for sharing. The restaurant offers a bar area, as well as both booth and table seating options. Additionally, outdoor seating is available. This reviewer found the service to be excellent.

In contrast, another customer, writing their review while at the restaurant bar, expressed significant dissatisfaction with the food. They described the crispy tofu as soggy and the accompanying rice as dry and undercooked. The vegetable spring rolls were considered small, though they did appreciate their crispness. Most notably, they criticized the soup dumplings for having a very thick skin and for the absence of black vinegar dipping sauce, a staple in Chinese cuisine. This reviewer pointed out that the restaurant does not have black vinegar, questioning its use in dishes like hot and sour soup. Identifying as an Asian who has traveled Asia, this customer rated the restaurant very poorly in terms of flavor, rice doneness, and condiments, stating a preference for a fast-food alternative.

I am writing this review as we sit at the bar, consuming the food we've ordered. The crispy tofu was soggy. The rice that it came with was dry, undercooked. The vegetable spring rolls were a pittance, I did appreciate that they were crisp. (more crisp than the "crispy tofu"). But most of all, the soup dumplings came with a very thick skin. There was no black vinegar dipping sauce. The restaurant does not have black vinegar which is a staple in Chinese restaurants. Which makes me wonder, what do they use for their hot and sour soup? You can't make that soup without black vinegar. As an Asian who has traveled Asia, I rate this restaurant very poorly in flavor, rice doneness, and condiments. I wish we had walked into a Panda Express instead.

Delicious Chinese food! Soup dumplings were on point! Spicy edamame was a little too spicy, so they took them back and switched them out for a medium spice version. Be sure to ask about spice before you order! I am a spicy person and it was Mexican/ghost pepper spicy, not Asian spice like I’m used to. Got garlic pork with tofu and didn’t touch the rice- the main was so much and so delicious I didn’t need it! Set fresh, which is a key for us! And we came ‘between shifts’ around 3 pm on a week day, so fresh and great service is even more impressive! Give it a try for sure!

When you first come in, you will be very skeptical about the food here because it is a mixture of many styles. Can you imagine a Chinese restaurant with a bar inside? And a disco ball? ! I have to say that this Chinese restaurant is better than many restaurants run by "real Chinese". I have rarely eaten such delicious steamed dumplings, steamed buns and noodles! We ordered scallion pancakes, vegetarian steamed dumplings, pork buns, chicken dandan noodles and eggplant. Its scallion pancakes are fried scallion pancakes, which are different from the scallion pancakes you usually eat. It reminds me of the taste of my hometown. The steamed dumplings and pork buns have the best crust I've ever had in all of Dallas. They're not too thick, they don't taste dry, they're just right. The filling seasoning tastes great. I also like the Taiwanese fried rice noodles. I don’t like the seasoning of the dandan noodles, but the noodles are really good. You can definitely taste the noodles as they are handmade. I will definitely come back to this restaurant to try its other dishes

Wok Star Chinese is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the DFW area. The food is always hot and fresh. I have not experienced anything soggy from this restaurant. Very flavorful, food and friendly staff. The drinks are amazing but I did not take a picture of any. I really like the crab Rangoon, but disappointed that it does not come with a lot of crab meat. The dumplings were delicious. The chocolate filling in my dessert puffs were amazing. I am a frequent customer.
