About Wok N Roll
Welcome to Wok N Roll, a Chinese restaurant situated at 2424 N Herritage St in Kinston, North Carolina. As a local establishment in the "Chinese Restaurant" category, Wok N Roll aims to provide Chinese cuisine to the community. However, recent customer reviews present a concerning picture regarding food quality and pricing, which potential local users should carefully consider.
One particularly alarming review details a severely negative experience. A customer who ordered "chicken and rice" reported a disturbing discovery upon arriving home. According to their account, "2 of my 4 pieces of chicken wasn't chicken ..... It literally looks like a cat or dog paw.....fried." This shocking claim, if accurate, raises serious questions about the food preparation and quality control at Wok N Roll. The customer's intention to upload a picture to support their assertion further underscores the gravity of this alleged finding. This review understandably led the customer to vow never to eat there again and to express strong concerns about the safety and ingredients of the other food items.
The same reviewer also recounted an unsettling interaction with the staff. While the "front lady seemed nice" initially, the customer felt mocked when another employee allegedly laughed after hearing their order of "chicken and rice" and made a cryptic comment about "THEY like their chicken and rice." This interaction created a negative perception of the staff's professionalism and could be off-putting to other customers. The reviewer's advice to "be careful out here" and to avoid eating at establishments where you don't see the staff eating the food themselves reflects a deep distrust stemming from this experience.
Another customer review described the food as "average." Specifically, their "Sweet and Sour chicken was rather dry and tough." This indicates a potential issue with the preparation of a common Chinese dish, suggesting that the quality might not consistently meet expectations. Dry and tough chicken can significantly detract from the enjoyment of a meal.
Furthermore, this second reviewer found Wok N Roll to be "expensive for take out." They reported paying over $14 for a combo plate consisting of "chicken, lo mein, and spring roll," which included a "$1 service charge for using a credit card." This additional fee for using a credit card, coupled with the perceived average quality of the food, contributed to a negative assessment of the value offered by Wok N Roll's takeout service. For local users mindful of pricing and seeking good value for their money, this feedback suggests that Wok N Roll might not be the most economical option for Chinese takeout in the area.
Considering these two recent reviews, there are significant concerns regarding the food quality and pricing at Wok N Roll. The first review's claim of receiving what appeared to be fried animal paws instead of chicken is exceptionally disturbing and should give any potential customer serious pause. Even if this was an isolated incident, the lack of reassurance or alternative positive feedback in the provided reviews makes it difficult to dismiss. The second review, while less alarming, still points to issues with food quality (dry and tough chicken) and high prices for takeout, especially with an additional service charge for credit card use.
Given the severity of the first review, it is impossible to provide a positive introduction to Wok N Roll based solely on the information available. The alleged food contamination issue is a major red flag that overshadows any potential positives that might exist. The second review, while less extreme, corroborates a sense of dissatisfaction with the food quality and value. Therefore, local users in Kinston, NC, should approach Wok N Roll with extreme caution and be aware of the serious concerns raised by these recent customer experiences.
It is important to note that these reviews represent individual experiences and might not be representative of every meal served at Wok N Roll. However, the nature of the complaints, particularly the alleged presence of non-poultry animal parts in a chicken dish, is deeply troubling and cannot be ignored. Potential customers might want to seek more recent reviews from other sources to get a broader perspective, but the information currently available paints a negative picture.
In conclusion, based on the provided customer feedback, Wok N Roll in Kinston, NC, appears to have significant issues with food quality and potentially with food safety. The high prices for takeout, coupled with average or below-average food, further detract from its appeal. The alleged incident involving the chicken dish is particularly concerning. Therefore, local users are strongly advised to exercise caution and consider these negative experiences before deciding to order from or dine at Wok N Roll. Without any positive feedback or promotional information to counterbalance these serious concerns, it is impossible to recommend this "Chinese Restaurant" to the local community at this time. Further investigation and more positive, recent reviews would be needed to change this assessment.

If I could post 0 stars I would. I went there and the front lady seemed nice...until she asked me what did I order and I stated the chicken and rice.one lady came behind her and asked her something (I didn't hear) and she said "yeah, they like their chicken and rice. And laughed 🤔 What you mean THEY like their chicken and rice. Okay so I got my food and left. Came home and I noticed that 2 of my 4 pieces of chicken wasn't chicken ..... It literally looks like a cat or dog paw.....fried. I'll upload the picture, if I can. Im never eating from there ever again. There's no telling what the rest of that food may be. I'll never eat " Chinese" food again. Y'all be careful out here. If you don't see them eating their food then you don't eat it either.
Food was average. Sweet and Sour chicken was rather dry and tough. Expensive for take out. Paid over $14 (including a $1 service charge for using a credit card) for the chicken, lo mein, and spring roll combo plate.
Wok N Roll in Kingston is hands down one of the best spots for fresh, flavorful Chinese cuisine. The food is consistently delicious, with generous portions at reasonable prices. Their General Tso’s Chicken is perfectly crispy and just the right level of spicy, while the Lo Mein is always cooked to perfection. The staff is friendly, efficient, and ensures every order is spot-on, whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout. The service is fast, and the restaurant is clean and inviting. Wok N Roll has become my go-to for satisfying cravings for Chinese food. Highly recommend to anyone looking for great food and excellent service! Highly Recommend!!!
More breaded nuggets, than chicken. It was General Tso’s chicken. It was sweet to me. If using a credit card, $1 fee is expected to be charged. Food was ok. I have eaten here more than 3 times. Disappointed. I will keep searching for something better.
Am very very rarely out this direction and was craving Chinese food. Found this place was near by so decided to give it a shot. Love the name. It was just after five pm on a Saturday night and looks like they were ready for the dinner rush. Our food was prepared quickly and came out to us in their small lobby super hot. We ordered to eat in. Their dinner special was $8.50 including tax, fried rice, an egg roll, and a drink with free refills I could serve myself. A decent portion, more than I should eat and piping hot. I ordered sweet and sour chicken and my wife had sesame chicken. Both of us thought it was delicious... well done. As a 97 sanitation grade.
