About Wok and Roll Express (formerly Skillman Wok - Crowley)

Welcome to Wok and Roll Express, formerly known as Skillman Wok - Crowley, a Chinese restaurant located at 1201 FM1187 in Crowley, Texas. Situated within the Chinese Restaurant category, Wok and Roll Express offers a distinctive culinary experience by featuring a combination of Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese cuisine, alongside a selection of refreshing boba drinks. Based on recent online customer reviews, this establishment presents a mixed initial impression that has evolved positively under new ownership, suggesting a restaurant with a diverse menu and potential for a satisfying meal.

Upon initial visits, some customers noted unique aspects of Wok and Roll Express. One reviewer mentioned the unexpected fusion of Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese food on the menu, describing it as "interesting." This departure from a purely Chinese offering positions Wok and Roll Express as a Pan-Asian restaurant, catering to a broader range of palates seeking different Southeast Asian flavors. The availability of boba drinks was also highlighted, indicating a modern and popular beverage option that often complements Asian cuisine.

However, the initial experiences with some of the main dishes were less than ideal for one customer. Their attempt to order Pad Thai, a classic Thai noodle dish, resulted in a dish that "looked and tasted more like Lo Mein," a Chinese noodle dish. This led the reviewer to speculate about potential confusion in the kitchen due to the restaurant serving both Chinese and Thai food. Similarly, the General Tso chicken, a popular American Chinese dish, was reported to taste like Orange chicken, another common but distinct dish. The reviewer noted that while the food was "ok," the perceived misidentification of dishes raised concerns about the accuracy of the menu and the kitchen's familiarity with specific recipes. Additionally, the General Tso chicken was described as having "really big pieces of chicken" and the overall portion size was considered "not that much food."

Despite these issues with the main courses, the egg rolls that accompanied the meal received positive feedback for their "pretty good crunch and flavor." The strawberry tea with popping boba was also deemed "pretty tasty," although the reviewer mentioned a high amount of ice relative to the drink. A "dragon potion" beverage ordered by the other diner was described as having a "nice combination of flavors" but was noted to be "watered down a bit." Overall, the initial experience was summarized as "ok," with both positive and negative aspects.

In contrast to this initial feedback, a more recent review indicates a significant positive change, attributing it to "new ownership." This customer's experience was overwhelmingly positive, describing the food as "DELICIOUS." They ordered both food and boba teas and specifically praised the freshness of the egg roll that came with their plate, stating it "tasted so fresh." Spring rolls ordered by the reviewer's mother also received high accolades, with the mother "raving at how good" they were. Although the reviewer did not personally try the spring rolls, the strong positive feedback is noteworthy.

Furthermore, this more recent reviewer highlighted the positive interaction during order pickup, describing the family running the restaurant as "very sweet." This suggests an improvement not only in the food quality but also in the customer service under the new ownership. The reviewer concludes with a strong recommendation, urging others to "Definitely give this restaurant a chance if you haven’t yet!" This indicates a significant turnaround and a positive outlook for Wok and Roll Express under its new management.

Given the evolution of customer experiences, Wok and Roll Express now presents itself as a restaurant with a potentially strong offering of Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese cuisine, complemented by a variety of boba drinks. The initial concerns about dish identification and food quality seem to have been addressed by the new ownership, with a focus on fresh ingredients and delicious flavors, particularly in items like the egg rolls and spring rolls.

The environment of Wok and Roll Express, based on the first review, might have had issues with air conditioning, feeling "really warm." However, there is no further information to suggest whether this has been addressed under the new ownership. The "hole-in-the-wall" nature often associated with such establishments might imply a casual and unpretentious setting, with the focus primarily on the food and service.

The services offered likely include dine-in and takeout, given the nature of the reviews mentioning both eating at the restaurant and picking up orders. Delivery services might also be available through third-party platforms, although this is not explicitly mentioned. To confirm the full range of services, local users are encouraged to contact Wok and Roll Express directly at (817) 297-7888 or their mobile number, +1 817-297-7888.

Features of Wok and Roll Express include its unique combination of Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese cuisine, catering to a diverse range of tastes. The availability of boba drinks is another notable feature, appealing to a younger demographic and those who enjoy these USese-style beverages. The recent positive feedback highlights the freshness and flavor of their egg rolls and spring rolls as key features under the new ownership.

Promotional information is not provided in the available reviews. Restaurants, especially those under new management, often offer special deals or discounts to attract new customers. To inquire about any current promotions or special offers at Wok and Roll Express, it is best to contact them directly by phone. They might have introductory offers for new customers or lunch specials. Checking local online platforms or social media (if they have a presence) could also provide information on any ongoing promotions.

In conclusion, Wok and Roll Express (formerly Skillman Wok - Crowley) in Crowley, Texas, presents an evolving dining experience. While initial reviews indicated potential issues with dish accuracy and some food quality, more recent feedback under new ownership is overwhelmingly positive, praising the delicious food, particularly the fresh egg rolls and spring rolls, as well as the sweet family service. The unique combination of Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese cuisine, along with boba drinks, makes it a distinctive option in the local Chinese Restaurant category. Local users are encouraged to give Wok and Roll Express a chance to experience its diverse menu and improved offerings under its new management. Contacting them directly for information on services and any current promotions is recommended.

We decided to check this place out. Walking in, the place felt really warm like the ac wasn’t on. As we looked at the menu, we noticed it was a combination of Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese food. Interesting. Oh and boba drinks. I’m a big fan of Pad Thai, so I wanted to try that and well, it was a completed let down. It wasn’t that bad, but it looked and tasted more like Lo Mein to me. Not sure if the cook got confused or combined the two dishes, since they serve both Chinese and Thai food. My boyfriend ordered the General Tso chicken and well, it tasted like Orange chicken. I really think there’s some confusion in the kitchen as to what the dishes really are. It was ok though, just not that much food and really big pieces of chicken. The eggrolls that came with it weren’t bad, it had a pretty good crunch and flavor. He also ordered their Strawberry tea with popping boba and it was pretty tasty. Just a lot of ice and not much of the drink. I got the dragon potion which was a nice combination of flavors, but just watered down a bit. Overall, it was ok.

Decided to try this place out last night since the new ownership took over. It was DELICIOUS. We ordered food and boba teas. The egg roll with my plate tasted so fresh. My mom was raving at how good the spring rolls were, although i did not try them. The family was very sweet when i went to pick up my order too. Definitely give this restaurant a chance if you haven’t yet!

The food was terrible. They actually give a discount for people who leave a good review. I just can't do it. The rice was the only good dish. Had the ribs, lo main, beef and broccoli, sesame chicken & egg rolls. Where do I start. Ok just say NO. The carrots in the beef and broccoli were brown. Not due to sauce but freshness. Practically no beef. The roast pork lo main and rice. Didn't have small pieces of roast pork. It had strips like if you were to have them in a dish. Very blah tasting. My dogs enjoyed them. The egg rolls were deep fried to death. After being told the ribs were expensive, I got a double order, only 4 ribs. They were inedible. Coverd in sauce and looked good, but the taste was terrible. They were old, dry & nasty. Overall, never again. Sorry, the owner or guy at the counter is very nice. It's sad that this is considered Chinese food.

the employees were great don’t get me wrong, but the quality of the food was very poor. their pho is extremely overpriced for the quantity, the broth is really oily and i’m not too sure as to why. the spring rolls were made sloppy and for $23 for only 2 items I would honestly expect better food in general.

Ordered from uber eats was super skeptical because of the mixed reviews. My fiancé being a very picky eater and I very much enjoyed our food. Everything was cooked perfectly. It was still piping hot when it arrived (it was 20 miles away) and the whole order was correct, nothing was missing and they even remembered to add the sauces. Highly recommend. My fiancé said he was full but couldn’t stop eating because it was so good 🤣
