About Wing Sing Dim Sum
Welcome to Wing Sing Dim Sum, a Chinese restaurant situated in the heart of San Francisco at 1125 Stockton Street. As a local Chinese restaurant, Wing Sing Dim Sum offers a selection of dishes catering to those seeking a quick breakfast, a light lunch, or a taste of traditional dim sum. Located in a bustling area known for its diverse culinary offerings, Wing Sing Dim Sum aims to provide a convenient option for residents and visitors looking for Chinese cuisine.
Based on recent customer feedback, the experience at Wing Sing Dim Sum appears to be somewhat varied. While some aspects might appeal to certain preferences, it's important for potential customers to be aware of the nuances highlighted in the reviews. One customer, who visited seeking a small breakfast, tried the shrimp chive dumplings and a chicken bun. The prices were noted as reasonable, with dumplings costing around $1.50 and up. However, the chicken bun was reported to be cold, with a high bread-to-meat ratio and a bland filling. The reviewer also encountered a piece of cartilage, which led to a negative experience with this particular item. In comparison to another local bakery, Wong Lee, the reviewer found the shrimp chive dumplings at Wing Sing Dim Sum to have minced shrimp, a less prominent chive flavor, and a thicker dough.
Despite this initial experience, the same reviewer expressed a potential interest in returning to try the hot rice meals, specifically mentioning that the eggplant dish looked "incredible." This suggests that Wing Sing Dim Sum might have strengths in other areas of their menu beyond buns and certain types of dumplings. The reviewer concluded that for buns and dumplings specifically, there might be better options available elsewhere.
Another customer's visit in December 2024 focused on a specific dim sum item: flaky fried taro. Upon inquiry, they were informed that Wing Sing Dim Sum did offer a taro dumpling, but it was prepared with a steamed skin rather than the desired fried, flaky exterior. This highlights a potential discrepancy between customer expectations and the restaurant's preparation methods for certain dishes. The customer did try the steamed taro dumpling with ground meat and found it to be "okay, not amazing," noting that while the filling was correct, it was not the fried version they were looking for. As this customer had already made substantial purchases from other dim sum establishments, they did not sample any other items on the menu, leaving the possibility of other satisfactory options unexplored.
It is crucial to note from one of the reviews that Wing Sing Dim Sum operates on a cash-only basis. This is an important piece of information for potential diners to be aware of before visiting to ensure a smooth transaction.
In summary, based on the available customer feedback, Wing Sing Dim Sum offers reasonably priced breakfast and dim sum items. However, experiences can vary, and certain dishes, such as the chicken bun and the steamed taro dumpling (when a fried version is desired), have received less favorable reviews. The shrimp chive dumplings were also noted to be different in preparation and flavor compared to those from another local bakery. On a more positive note, the hot rice meals, particularly the eggplant dish, were mentioned as potentially appealing. The restaurant operates on a cash-only basis.
For local users considering Wing Sing Dim Sum, it might be worthwhile to explore their menu beyond the specific items mentioned in the reviews, particularly the hot rice meals. If you are specifically looking for fried, flaky taro dim sum, it appears this might not be their standard preparation. For those prioritizing specific textures and flavors in their buns and dumplings, comparing with other local bakeries might be beneficial. However, if you are in the Stockton Street area and seeking an affordable and convenient option for a quick bite or are interested in trying their rice dishes, Wing Sing Dim Sum could be worth a visit, keeping in mind their cash-only policy.

In conclusion, Wing Sing Dim Sum presents itself as a Chinese restaurant offering dim sum and other dishes on Stockton Street in San Francisco. While customer reviews provide mixed feedback on specific items like the chicken bun and certain dim sum preparations, there is potential appeal in their rice meals and the affordability of their offerings. The cash-only payment policy is an important detail for prospective customers to note. Exploring the menu beyond the mentioned items and perhaps trying their daily specials could offer a more comprehensive understanding of the dining experience at Wing Sing Dim Sum.

Customer Reviews
A little surprised by all the high reviews, but maybe it was just what I ordered. I just wanted a small breakfast so I had shrimp chive dumplings and a chicken bun. Reasonable prices ~$1.50+ per dumpling. The chicken bun was cold. Bread ratio was high to meat, which was bland. I got a huge cartilage chunk and had to spit it out. I prefer the shrimp chive dumplings at Wong Lee bakery. This one the shrimp wasn't whole (more minced), the chive flavor wasn't strong, and the dough was quite thick. I would go back here, but only for a hot rice meal. The eggplant looked incredible. I regret not ordering that. For buns and dumplings, there are better bakeries.
Visited in December 2024, looking for flaky fried taro dim sum. When we inquired about the taro, we were told that they did have the dish. It was in the wrong form: steamed skin instead of fried with flaky edges The steamed taro dumpling with ground meat is okay, not amazing. The right filling, but we wanted the fried ones. We had just purchased multiple boxes of dim sum from 2 other shops so we didn't try anything else. Maybe next time. Cash payment.
Every time I stop by this place,I pick up 1 or 2 of their baked char siu bao. I usually finish them before I can walk 2 or 3 blocks away but hey they're meant to be enjoyed. It's not a typical char siu bao because this one has a sweet soft white crust on top that's almost reminiscent of a pineapple buns top. It costs $2 each and it's worth a try if you want to experience a variant on the char siu bao. The ladies working there are friendly and efficient. It's a small shop so it's best as a grab and go place.
Great Chinese deli for dim sum and baked goods! It was in the middle of Chinatown San Francisco. Prices are fair and srrbice was great. All the good was authentic abd delicious!
Food were cheap & tasty, however the Steamed Rice Rolls were a bit too thick. They have rice dish with choices starting from $8.50 USD which is such a great deal! Love that they have some seatings to dine in. The lady who served us was really nice.
