About Wing Lee BBQ

Wing Lee BBQ, located at 501 Clement Street in San Francisco, California, is a Chinese Restaurant specializing in BBQ and takeout services. Situated in the 94118 zip code, Wing Lee BBQ can be contacted by phone at (415) 831-7883 or via mobile at +1 415-831-7883. This introduction aims to provide local users with an objective overview of what Wing Lee BBQ offers, based on recent customer feedback available online.

Customer reviews present a somewhat mixed perspective on Wing Lee BBQ. One long-time customer expresses a strong affinity for the establishment, referring to it as their "favorite bbq shop on Clement." This reviewer notes that they have been a patron for years and find the service to be consistently "just fine." They do mention a minor inconvenience, wishing the shop were open on Mondays, as that is their most convenient day to visit. Regarding the atmosphere, this reviewer explicitly states that it is primarily a takeout operation, suggesting that the ambiance is not a significant factor for their patronage.

Another customer, who visited for a quick Chinese takeout order, noted that the premises appeared to be "undergoing partial construction" at the time of their visit. This might suggest that the environment could be temporarily disrupted or that the focus is primarily on food preparation for off-site consumption rather than a comfortable dine-in experience.

This reviewer also provided feedback on specific dishes they ordered. The deep-fried salt and pepper shrimp was not commented on in terms of taste or quality. However, the chicken wings were described as "a bit under-seasoned and greasy." The Chinese sticky rice was reported to be lacking in flavor and requiring soy sauce to enhance its taste. The reviewer also mentioned the cost of these three half-pound dishes totaling $32, which they felt was "a bit higher than expected." They noted that Wing Lee BBQ accepts credit cards but has a minimum purchase requirement of $15.

Finally, this reviewer commented on the logistical aspects of visiting Wing Lee BBQ, stating that "parking in the area is always an issue" with no free parking lots available. While acknowledging its convenience for locals, they concluded that it might "not worth going out of the way for" given the presence of "many other comparable options nearby."

Based on these reviews, we can attempt to characterize the environment, services, and features of Wing Lee BBQ, while acknowledging the limited and somewhat contradictory information.

Regarding the environment, the first reviewer explicitly states that it is primarily a takeout operation, suggesting a functional space focused on food preparation rather than dine-in comfort or ambiance. The second reviewer's observation of "partial construction" indicates that the environment might be undergoing changes or may not be in its optimal state for customers visiting the physical location. This further reinforces the idea that takeout is likely the primary mode of service and that the physical atmosphere might not be a key feature.

In terms of services, Wing Lee BBQ offers takeout of Chinese BBQ and other dishes. The first reviewer's loyalty suggests a consistent level of food quality in their preferred items over the years, although these specific items are not detailed. The second reviewer's experience indicates a potential variability in the quality and seasoning of certain dishes like chicken wings and sticky rice. The acceptance of credit cards with a $15 minimum is a service-related detail that potential customers should be aware of. The mention of "quick Chinese takeout" implies an expectation of efficient service for customers picking up orders.

The features of Wing Lee BBQ include its specialization in BBQ, as indicated by its name and the first reviewer's description as a "favorite bbq shop." However, the specific types of BBQ offered are not detailed in the provided feedback. The menu also includes other standard Chinese takeout fare, such as deep-fried salt and pepper shrimp, chicken wings, and Chinese sticky rice, although the quality of some of these items has been questioned in one review. The long-standing patronage of one reviewer suggests that they likely have popular or well-prepared signature BBQ items that keep customers returning. The location on Clement Street is convenient for local residents but might be less appealing to those outside the immediate area due to parking challenges.

Currently, there is no promotional information available in the customer reviews. We have no details regarding any special offers, discounts, or unique promotions that Wing Lee BBQ might be employing to attract local customers. Any current promotions would likely require direct contact with the establishment or checking local listings or advertisements.

In conclusion, Wing Lee BBQ on Clement Street in San Francisco is a Chinese restaurant specializing in BBQ and takeout. While one long-term customer highly recommends it as their favorite local BBQ shop with satisfactory service, another recent experience highlights potential issues with the seasoning and flavor of some non-BBQ dishes, as well as higher-than-expected prices and parking difficulties. The environment is primarily geared towards takeout, and at the time of one review, appeared to be undergoing construction. Potential local users who prioritize BBQ and convenient takeout on Clement Street might find Wing Lee BBQ appealing, but those seeking a broader range of consistently high-quality Chinese dishes or a pleasant dine-in experience might want to consider the mixed feedback and logistical challenges.

I love this place, favorite bbq shop on Clement. I only wish they were open Mondays because that’s the easiest day for me to get there. Been going for years when I can, service has always been just fine. As for atmosphere, it’s takeout so what do you expect.

I popped in for some quick Chinese takeout, and it seemed like they were undergoing partial construction. I ordered the deep-fried salt and pepper shrimp, chicken wings (which were a bit under-seasoned and greasy), and their Chinese sticky rice, which lacked flavor and needed soy sauce to enhance it. Surprisingly, these three dishes at half a pound each totaled $32, which was a bit higher than expected. They accept credit cards but require a minimum of $15 minimum. The parking in the area is always an issue. No free lots. While convenient for locals, it's not worth going out of the way for given the many other comparable options nearby.

Food quality is really high quality. Love the fried fish when they have it. The black pepper spare ribs and very potato heavy chicken curry are amazing with white rice. Not cheap but definitely not expensive. Two item with white rice is worth it for a couple small meals or a very large one.
