About Wing Hing Chop Suey
Located at 3900 Natural Bridge Ave, St. Louis, MO 63107, USA, Wing Hing Chop Suey is a Chinese Restaurant that serves the local community with a selection of classic Chinese-American dishes. As a carryout-focused establishment, it provides a convenient option for residents seeking a quick and satisfying meal. Like many local Chinese eateries, Wing Hing Chop Suey aims to offer familiar flavors and efficient service to its patrons.
The environment at Wing Hing Chop Suey, based on the nature of "Chop Suey" style Chinese restaurants and limited review information, is primarily geared towards takeout service. This typically means the dining area might be modest, with the main focus on a counter for ordering and picking up food. While there isn't extensive detail on the decor, such establishments generally prioritize cleanliness and functionality. One review does mention a specific environmental factor: "Damn cold in the winter." This suggests that during colder months, the interior temperature might be a consideration for patrons waiting for their orders. However, the core purpose of a carryout restaurant is to provide efficient service for food to be consumed off-premises, and its setup would reflect that. It's designed for a quick and convenient transaction rather than an elaborate sit-down dining experience.
The service at Wing Hing Chop Suey, while not extensively detailed in the provided reviews beyond the specific food comments, can be inferred to be typical of a busy carryout Chinese restaurant. The primary mode of operation suggests a focus on efficiency and speed in preparing and delivering orders. Customers can place their orders by phone at (314) 533-3772 or +1 314-533-3772, indicating a streamlined process for quick pickups. The overall expectation for service in such an establishment would be polite and straightforward interactions, aimed at getting customers their food in a timely manner. The nature of a "Chop Suey" spot often implies a no-frills approach, where the emphasis is firmly on the food itself and the speed of its delivery, rather than extensive table service or prolonged customer engagement.
The features of Wing Hing Chop Suey are predominantly centered around its menu offerings, which cater to popular Chinese-American tastes. The restaurant provides a selection of dishes designed for a quick and satisfying meal. Based on customer feedback, some notable items include:
Special Fried Rice: One customer explicitly stated, "I had to special fried rice and order crab rangoon and it was delicious." This highlights the special fried rice as a popular and enjoyable option, suggesting it's a well-prepared version of this classic dish, likely featuring a combination of meats and vegetables.
Crab Rangoon: Paired with the special fried rice, the crab rangoon was also described as "delicious." These crispy wonton wrappers filled with cream cheese and imitation crab meat are a common and beloved appetizer in Chinese-American cuisine, and Wing Hing Chop Suey appears to execute them well.
However, one review provides some critical feedback regarding the fried rice, stating, "Too much molasses in the fried rice. I think that's molasses I tasted. Whatever it is it was too much." This indicates a specific flavor profile in their fried rice that may not appeal to all palates, suggesting a darker, sweeter style of fried rice. This feedback also points to potential inconsistencies or a distinct house style that customers should be aware of. The customer ultimately found "a better Chinese takeout at Kingsway," suggesting that preferences for fried rice can vary greatly among individuals.
It's important to note that while one specific dish received mixed feedback, the overall nature of such establishments is to offer a broad menu. Patrons typically explore various items to find their personal favorites. The focus on "Chop Suey" in the name often implies a menu with a wide range of familiar dishes, often including stir-fries, noodle dishes, and other common Chinese-American entrees.
Regarding promotional information, specific details for Wing Hing Chop Suey are not provided. However, Chinese restaurants, especially those focused on carryout, often employ various promotional strategies to attract and retain customers. These can include:

Family Meal Deals: Larger portions or bundled meals designed to feed multiple people, which can be more economical for families or groups.
Cash Discounts: Some smaller establishments offer a small discount for customers paying with cash, as it helps them avoid credit card processing fees.
Loyalty Programs: While less common for very small carryout places, some may have simple punch cards or similar schemes for frequent customers.
Seasonal or Holiday Promotions: Special dishes or limited-time offers around major holidays, particularly Chinese New Year.

Damn cold in the winter. Too much molasses in the fried rice. I think that's molasses I tasted. Whatever it is it was too much. I found a better Chinese takeout at Kingsway
I have been going to Wing Hing Chop Suey since 1983 and its still the same. Very tasty that Duck Fried Rice is special. Henry is older but still has it going on.
Special Lo Mein to any fried rice, Duck and noodle and St.Paul sandwiches I've all tried and loved it. But the crab racoon and egg rolls always keeps me coming back. I've tried many chinese restaurants and nothing else compares. People from out of town love stl "chinamen" and they all go here. I've been going here since I was a kid and I'm 22 now. I will go until the doors cloSe. Henry will hook it up
I hadn't been here in 5+years. I was so happy the food is still the best in town!
