About Windmill Food Hall

Windmill Food Hall, located at 890 Palomar Airport Rd in Carlsbad, California, offers a unique dining concept that goes beyond a traditional Chinese restaurant. It operates as a food hall, housing multiple vendors offering a diverse range of cuisines, including lobster rolls, pizza, pasta, and sushi rolls, among others.

Customers have described Windmill Food Hall as an "awesome place" with a generally liked food selection. While the lobster rolls were specifically noted as delicious, the variety of food vendors ensures options for different tastes. On weekends, they feature live oysters. The drink selection is considered "so so," but the overall atmosphere and the choice of food vendors compensate for this.

The service model is more akin to a food court; customers receive a buzzer after ordering, and there isn't extensive table service. However, the venue offers ample parking and a large amount of seating both indoors and outdoors. A notable feature is the back area, which provides a cozy environment with sofas, armchairs, and a library wall.

The environment of Windmill Food Hall is described as "wildest" and "weirdest" in a positive way, set within a Dutch windmill. It includes a full bar, live music, and community seating, creating a vibrant and communal atmosphere. The venue is also family-friendly, welcoming children.

Unique features of Windmill Food Hall include a mini donut shop that has received high praise and monthly classic car shows that combine food, music, and vintage automobiles, appealing to enthusiasts. These events add an extra layer of entertainment and community engagement to the dining experience.

While not solely a Chinese restaurant, Windmill Food Hall offers a dynamic and diverse culinary destination for locals in Carlsbad, with a variety of food options and a unique setting. You can contact them at (760) 214-9127 or +1 760-214-9127 for more information.

Awesome place!! We've been here 2-3 times now and have tried the lobster rolls, the pizza and pastas, and the sushi rolls. The lobster rolls were delicious for sure but we've liked the food in general. They also have live oysters on the weekends so we've tried those. The drinks are so so but the atmosphere and choice of food vendors makes up for that. Service is fine because you get a buzzer but otherwise there isn't much table service. Lots of parking around the area and large amount of seating inside and outside. Definitely check out the back area where they have cozy sofas, armchairs and a library wall :)

This the wildest, weirdest food rodeo in a Dutch windmill you will ever experience. Full bar, live music, multiple dining restaurants, and community seating. Even Kids are welcome. Yeah, miniature humans are welcome. Crazy. I love the mini donut shop, a solid 10 on the foodometer. They have classic car shows!!! Once a month. Food, music and classic cars... almost heaven on earth for nerds!!! I'll be back!!! It is completely worth the visit.

Came with a group for dinner on a Saturday. Plenty of parking spots and areas to sit. Really nice venue, especially at night with the barn-esque quaintness and modern design, lights. Nice open ambiance, with different sections and vibes to the seating arrangements (library theme in the back with bookshelves of "historic" books, more modern seating at the entrance. There is also a full extended bat to serve all. Management did a great job diversifying the business mix, there is not one duplication of food being sold which is a big win for the businesses and customers. Arcades inside as well for entertainment. We split several items, including a Hawaiian pizza, Pho soup, Mediterranean dish of gyro, and sushi burrito. Customer service was great and food was ready relatively quick. Overall taste of all the food was good or great. Beer on tap has a nice selection as well. Prices are relatively normal compared to other restaurants, maybe even a bit less. Bathrooms were really clean as was the eatablishment as a whole. I have visited several food halls and this fits a good niche in this market, so it seems.

New review -I’ve always wanted to take my mom to visit this Windmill food hall. While food halls aren’t usually known for amazing dishes, the architecture and interior design here are stunning, and there’s a good variety to try. We ordered a burrata thin-crust pizza, and it was surprisingly delicious—just as good as a nice Italian restaurant! The arugula and pesto combo was perfect, and the crust was spot on. Highly recommend! We also tried Thai chicken noodles and Vietnamese spring rolls, which were just okay. Cocktails were decent but nothing special. The atmosphere, though, is fantastic—very family-friendly with lots of kids enjoying the space. A lovely spot to spend a weekend and stroll by the beach afterward! Previous review - We’ve been here a few times. The first time was when here just opened not long during pandemic, there were only several food options. My favorite was Cross Street Chicken sandwich, while it’s still one of my favorites. I also loved the Secret Sauce Chinese food. The Pad Thai is nice too! I remember the BBQ place is not very impressive. And the watermelon salad was bland…. But it’s a so fun place to visit, especially if you have kids.

Great restaurants to choose from, and great flavors. We tried the fried chicken Sammy, poke, Cali burrito and a smash burger. All were very good! We finished it all up with mini donuts for the win!
