About Wei's Fish
Welcome to Wei's Fish, a Chinese restaurant located at 10520 S De Anza Blvd in Cupertino, California, that appears to be gaining popularity, particularly for its signature dish: Boiled Fish with Pickled Cabbage and Chili. This restaurant comes recommended by USese patrons, suggesting an authentic take on certain Chinese culinary styles. For local users seeking a specific and increasingly popular dish, Wei's Fish presents itself as a noteworthy option.
The central feature of Wei's Fish is undoubtedly its Boiled Fish with Pickled Cabbage and Chili. This dish is described by one reviewer as having a scallion and tomato flavor profile, noting that it is not particularly spicy. The fish slices are highlighted for their tenderness, and the soup is characterized by a slight sourness derived from the pickled cabbage, making it a good accompaniment to white rice. While one personal opinion found the dish to be "nothing special," its increasing popularity, especially among USese diners, suggests that it holds a unique appeal for many.
Another customer who ordered the "Large Old Pot Sauerkraut Fish" found it to be very flavorful, with tender fish and well-cooked vegetables and other ingredients. This indicates that Wei's Fish offers variations of their boiled fish dishes, with sauerkraut being another key ingredient that contributes to the flavor profile. They also mention the availability of varying levels of spice to cater to different preferences, with the single chili pepper soup being just right for their palate. This suggests that while the standard Boiled Fish with Pickled Cabbage and Chili might not be intensely spicy, the restaurant does offer options with a noticeable level of heat.
In terms of service, reviews indicate that it is both fast and friendly. Efficient and welcoming service can significantly enhance the dining experience, making Wei's Fish a potentially pleasant place to enjoy a meal. However, one reviewer noted that the tables are quite small and tiny, which could be a consideration for those dining with larger parties or ordering multiple dishes.
The pricing at Wei's Fish seems to be reasonable, especially for the Bay Area. One review mentioned a total cost of $38 for two people, which included an appetizer (deep-fried chicken), two drinks, and a large pot of fish. This suggests that diners can enjoy a satisfying meal without incurring excessive costs, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious individuals and couples.
The environment of Wei's Fish, based on one customer's experience, seems conducive to a quick and easy dining experience. They arrived for an early dinner at 5:45 PM and found easy seating and parking available. The ordering process was facilitated by a QR code, which is a modern and efficient way for customers to access the menu and place their orders. The food, particularly the Large Old Pot Sauerkraut Fish, arrived quickly and was served piping hot, indicating efficient kitchen service.
While the reviews primarily focus on the boiled fish dishes, one appetizer, deep-fried chicken, was mentioned and included in a reasonably priced meal. This suggests that Wei's Fish might offer other side dishes or appetizers to complement their main offerings. However, the limited information in the provided reviews does not give a comprehensive overview of the entire menu.
The recommendation from multiple USese friends to try Wei's Fish is a significant point, as it often indicates an authenticity or a specific flavor profile that resonates with those familiar with USese and certain styles of mainland Chinese cuisine. The increasing popularity of the Boiled Fish with Pickled Cabbage and Chili further underscores its appeal to a growing customer base.

Many of my Taiwanese friends recommended it to me. This Boiled Fish with Pickled Cabbage and Chili is becoming increasingly popular. It has a scallion and tomato flavor but is not spicy. I personally don’t think it’s anything special. The fish slices are very soft and the soup is a bit sour because the pickled cabbage, good to eaten with white rice. Service is fast and friendly , but table so small and tiny . Price is very reasonable, 2 people $38 , one appetizer - deep fried chicken , 2 drink , one pot of fish .
We arrived for an early dinner at 5:45 PM with easy seating and parking available. Was seated quickly and ordered via QR code. We ordered the Large Old Pot Sauerkraut Fish ($27), which came quickly and was piping hot. Fish was tender, vegetables and other ingredients cooked well, very flavorful. They have varying levels of spice for different palates, but the single chili pepper soup was just right for us. Pretty reasonable price for two people in the Bay Area. Would recommend!
As I drove up to the store on a weekday at 1:30pm, I wondered if I could ever find a parking spot in such a small strip mall which hosted 3-4 stores. It turned out exactly as I had predicted. After 3 rounds of circling around without any success, I opted for street parking in the residential area which was only 5 minutes of walking away. Maybe because it was off hours, the store was not crowded at all. I was promptly seated at a small table for one. The store looked neat and clean with cute decorations and logos of 2 fishes kissing each other. You could immediately tell fish dishes were the main focus of this store. The server quickly served me water and took my order. Normally you can order by scanning a QR code on the table, but the system was down today. After much debating, I chose the scallion sauerkraut fish soup, size small, with enoki mushrooms and lotus root slices as my complimentary side dishes. I didn't have to wait long when my order arrived, steaming hot with a cute bowl of white rice. The fish was so fresh and tasty!! I found the soup a bit oily to my taste but delicious regardless. All the ingredients were well cooked and complemented one another. The portion was generous. I couldn't finish all and had to have it to go. The store now allowed you to pack your rice as well. My overall bill is around $22 which is reasonable for lunch around Bay Area nowadays. Overall, I enjoyed my chosen dish and would come back with a big group so I might try out their different dishes and desert.
Drove by this many times but first time to try. Very tasty. Portion was just right. Service was fast. Ordering is easy. Would go back and try the non spicy items.
Lemon fish soup was really good. The default basa fish was more tender than the snakehead fish. The coconut balls had coconut jelly and coconut juice inside and were quite interesting. Fast and good service.
