About 留湘·小聚 Warm Springs店 Ping's Bistro Warm Springs-湾区首创云南菜
留湘·小聚 Warm Springs店, also known as Ping's Bistro Warm Springs, is a distinctive Chinese Restaurant located at 2090 Warm Springs Ct Ste 140 in Fremont, California. Notably branding itself as "湾区首创云南菜," or the Bay Area's first Yunnan cuisine, this establishment offers a unique regional Chinese culinary experience to local diners. Yunnan cuisine, originating from the Yunnan province in southwestern China, is known for its fresh and diverse ingredients, often incorporating floral flavors, mushrooms, and a mix of spicy, sour, and savory notes.
According to customer reviews, 留湘·小聚 Warm Springs店 aims to provide an authentic taste of Yunnan. One reviewer, whose colleague is from Yunnan, attested to the authenticity of the dishes served here. This endorsement suggests that the restaurant takes pride in staying true to the traditional flavors and preparations of Yunnan cuisine, offering a genuine cultural culinary experience for those familiar with it and an intriguing introduction for newcomers.
The menu features a variety of dishes, with some specific items receiving mention in customer feedback. The Mint Beef was described as "refreshing," indicating a light and flavorful dish that likely incorporates fresh mint to create a unique taste profile. This highlights the use of fresh herbs, a common characteristic in Yunnan cuisine.
Another dish that garnered positive attention is the Clay Pot Rice, which was noted as "the best of the day" by one reviewer. Clay pot rice dishes are a staple in many parts of Asia, and the positive feedback here suggests that 留湘·小聚 Warm Springs店 prepares this dish exceptionally well, likely with flavorful toppings and perfectly cooked rice.
The Rice Cake was also sampled, with the feedback being "not bad." However, the reviewer noted that it was "a little too salty and spicy," indicating that some dishes might have a bolder flavor profile, which is characteristic of certain regional Chinese cuisines, including Yunnan's tendency towards spiciness.
The Grilled Fish was another dish ordered, and it was noted for having a "really large portion." This aligns with feedback from other Chinese restaurants where generous portion sizes are often appreciated by customers, providing good value for the price.
In terms of pricing, one group of five people spent $150, averaging $30 per person. Based on this experience, the restaurant is recommended for groups of people, suggesting that it can accommodate and cater well to larger parties, making it a suitable venue for gatherings and celebrations.
However, it is crucial to address a significant negative experience reported by another customer. This reviewer recounted a truly alarming incident involving finding a large piece of glass in their fried rice. The reviewer bit into the glass, which shattered, causing sharp pain and lingering discomfort. They expressed understandable shock and concern, particularly highlighting the potential danger if this had happened to a child. As a result of this incident, the customer had to schedule a dentist appointment to assess potential damage to their teeth. This is a serious food safety concern that the restaurant needs to address urgently to ensure the well-being of its patrons.
The reviewer who experienced the glass in their food understandably labeled this negligence as "unacceptable" and urged for action to prevent future occurrences, advising others to "Be careful!!" This incident casts a serious shadow over the dining experience at 留湘·小聚 Warm Springs店 and raises significant concerns about food preparation and safety protocols within the establishment.
While one reviewer lauded the authenticity of the Yunnan cuisine and others praised specific dishes like the Mint Beef and Clay Pot Rice, this severe food safety issue cannot be ignored. Potential customers should be aware of this reported incident when considering dining at 留湘·小聚 Warm Springs店 Ping's Bistro Warm Springs. It underscores the importance of rigorous quality control and attention to detail in the kitchen to prevent such incidents from happening.
Despite the positive feedback on some aspects of the food and the authenticity of the Yunnan cuisine, the presence of glass in a dish is a critical failure in food safety that overshadows these positive points. It is imperative for the restaurant to take immediate and thorough action to investigate the cause of this contamination and implement strict measures to ensure that such incidents do not recur. This includes reviewing food preparation processes, kitchen safety protocols, and potentially retraining staff on the importance of vigilance in preventing foreign objects from entering the food.
For local users considering 留湘·小聚 Warm Springs店 Ping's Bistro for its unique Yunnan cuisine, it would be prudent to weigh the positive feedback on the authenticity and some of the dishes against the serious food safety concern that has been reported. If you are interested in trying Yunnan cuisine and are drawn by the positive reviews of dishes like the Mint Beef and Clay Pot Rice, you might consider inquiring with the restaurant about the steps they have taken to address the reported glass incident and ensure food safety. Located at 2090 Warm Springs Ct Ste 140 in Fremont, they can be contacted at (510) 249-5690 or +1 510-249-5690 for more information or to make reservations for a group.
In conclusion, 留湘·小聚 Warm Springs店 Ping's Bistro offers a unique culinary niche in Fremont with its focus on authentic Yunnan cuisine. While some customers have praised the authenticity and specific dishes, a significant food safety incident involving glass found in the food raises serious concerns that potential diners should be aware of and that the restaurant must address with utmost urgency and transparency.

We came here for the lunar new year celebration. One of my colleagues is from Yunnan and testified that the Yunnan food here is authentic. We ordered mint beef, which is refreshing. The clay pot rice is the best of the day. Rice cake is not bad. A little too salty and spicy. Grilled fish has a really large portion. $150 for 5 people. $30/pp. recommend for group of people.
We ordered fried rice from this restaurant, and what happened next was truly shocking. I found a large piece of glass in my food and unknowingly bit into it. The glass shattered into three pieces, two of which are shown in the picture, while the smallest one isn’t. I felt an immediate sharp pain. And I still felt the impact for hours afterward. Can you imagine if this had happened to a child? The consequences could have been even more severe. I have already scheduled a dentist appointment to assess any potential trauma to my teeth. This kind of negligence is unacceptable, and I hope action is taken to prevent it from happening to anyone else. Be careful!!
Great flavors and good service! We enjoyed everything we ordered.
My friends and I used to really like this place, especially the fresh mushrooms, braised chicken, and other dishes. But recently, I wonder if they’ve changed chefs or started cutting corners. I ordered takeout today, and when I got home, I found that the ham and porcini dish was made with pork belly that had a gamey smell. The stir-fried loofah used to be served in long, delicious strips when we dined in, but this time it was cut into small pieces. The braised chicken had lots of noodles mixed in—a very odd combination. I’m disappointed and won’t be coming back.
Great food! Some dishes are not as spicy as described.
