About Wang's Kitchen

Wang's Kitchen is a Chinese restaurant located at 3631 New Bern Ave in Raleigh, North Carolina. As a local Chinese restaurant, it offers a menu of standard Chinese dishes for both dine-in and takeout. However, recent customer reviews highlight some significant issues that potential patrons should be aware of regarding the food quality and customer service.

Based on recent feedback, the environment of Wang's Kitchen, particularly for dine-in customers, appears to be less than accommodating. One customer who decided to eat at the restaurant after placing a takeout order was informed that plates were not provided without an extra charge. When they inquired about the purpose of the tables, they were told that plates cost 5 cents each, resulting in a 10-cent charge for two plates. This unusual policy regarding basic dining necessities could be off-putting for customers intending to eat their meals on-site.

The services at Wang's Kitchen include both takeout and dine-in options. However, the experience described by one customer regarding the provision of plates for dine-in suggests a lack of standard hospitality. Additionally, another reviewer mentioned a significant issue with the efficiency of their takeout service, stating, "...there is no point in calling your order in ahead of time as they will only start cooking it when you arrive so you have to wait anyway." This negates the convenience typically associated with ordering food in advance and indicates a potentially inefficient order processing system.

The features of Wang's Kitchen, as portrayed by recent customer experiences, are unfortunately negative. A primary concern revolves around the quality of the food. One customer who ordered house fried rice and boneless spare ribs described their rice as having some parts "clumped together" and "overcooked." When they brought this to the attention of the staff, they were told that this was normal, which the customer strongly disagreed with, urging others to view accompanying photos. This indicates a potential issue with the preparation and consistency of their dishes.

Another recurring complaint pertains to the food's taste and preparation methods. A long-time customer noted a decline in quality, stating that "lately the food has been very greesy and tastes rancid as if they are not changing the frying oil on a regular basis." This is a serious concern regarding food safety and quality standards. The description of the food tasting "rancid" suggests that the restaurant may not be maintaining proper oil management practices, significantly impacting the flavor and potentially the healthfulness of their fried items.

Customer service also appears to be an area of concern based on the reviews. The first customer who was charged for plates described the overall experience as having "nasty" food and "unprofessional" customer service. The dismissive response regarding the overcooked rice further contributes to this negative perception. The second reviewer, while primarily focused on the declining food quality and slow order fulfillment, also implicitly criticizes the service by highlighting the lack of benefit in calling ahead for orders.

Currently, there is no promotional information available for Wang's Kitchen in the provided reviews. The feedback focuses solely on negative aspects of the food and service experienced by recent customers. The lack of any positive comments or mentions of special offers suggests that the restaurant may be facing challenges in maintaining customer satisfaction, and any potential promotions are not highlighted in these recent experiences.

For local users in Raleigh considering Wang's Kitchen on New Bern Ave, the recent customer reviews present a concerning picture. The issues raised include the poor quality of the house fried rice (overcooked and clumped), potentially rancid and greasy food due to infrequent oil changes, the unusual policy of charging extra for plates for dine-in customers, and inefficient order processing for takeout. These factors collectively suggest a decline in both food quality and customer service standards at this establishment.

Given these negative experiences, potential customers might want to exercise caution and consider alternative Chinese restaurants in the area. The strong negative feedback regarding food nastiness, unprofessional service, and the questionable practice of charging for plates for on-site dining are significant red flags. The report of food tasting rancid also raises concerns about the restaurant's kitchen practices and food safety.

In conclusion, while Wang's Kitchen is located at 3631 New Bern Ave in Raleigh and offers Chinese cuisine for dine-in and takeout, recent customer reviews strongly advise caution. The reported issues with overcooked and clumped rice, greasy and rancid-tasting food, unprofessional customer service, and the extra charge for plates for dine-in are serious concerns that potential customers should carefully consider before deciding to patronize this establishment. For those seeking a reliable and enjoyable Chinese dining experience in Raleigh, exploring other options might be advisable based on this recent feedback. To contact Wang's Kitchen, you can use the phone number (919) 212-8805 or the mobile number +1 919-212-8805. However, it would be prudent to weigh the potential risks highlighted in these reviews before placing an order or visiting the restaurant.

Just ate at this restaurant. I ordered house fried rice with no onions and boneless spare ribs and my wife ordered something different. We spent about 40 dollars on this meal. When we were handed our order I ask for plates because we decided to eat there. She said they don’t give plates. And then I ask what the tables were for? And the response was, “oh plates cost 5 cents”. Paid 10 cents for the plates and sat down starting eating my meal and this is what my rice looked like. Some of the rice was clumped together and it was overcooked. I ask her was this normal showing her the tray of rice and she said yes. Please view the photos I have with this post. This is the first and last time I come to this restaurant. The food was nasty and the customer service unprofessional.

Used to have the best take out chinese food in the area but lately the food has been very greesy and tastes rancid as if they are not changing the frying oil on a regular basis. Also there is no point in calling your order in ahead of time as they will only start cooking it when you arrive so you have to wait anyway. Looking for a better place nearby. Still haven't found one.

Call in order not ready when I arrived. Wings were tiny and old tasting... Very tough to chew. They looked terrible, but I thought it was the grease. The onions in the rice had a bad flavor and were not fresh. I will go to the Rogers Lane location next time because this food was prepared for the indigent population who frequent the area. Yuck!
