About Wang's Kitchen

Wang's Kitchen, located at 712 Laura Duncan Rd, Apex, NC 27502, USA, is a Chinese restaurant that operates primarily as a fast-casual takeout establishment, serving the Apex community. Based on recent customer reviews, Wang's Kitchen is considered a pretty decent location offering good, fresh, and flavorful food that is not excessively greasy or oily. While one reviewer noted that the soups could benefit from more flavor, the general consensus is that the dishes are distinct and do not suffer from the common issue of all tasting the same, which can be prevalent in some fast-casual Chinese restaurants.

A significant strength of Wang's Kitchen appears to be the freshness of their vegetables, a detail appreciated by at least one regular customer. The menu includes popular dishes such as Hunan Chicken and Chicken with Broccoli, which are frequently ordered and reported to be quite good. The Fried Eggrolls and Fried Dumplings are also mentioned as tasty side options. For those who enjoy rice and noodles, the Fried Rice and Lo Mein are available, with one reviewer occasionally opting for these dishes.

The Fried Dumplings at Wang's Kitchen receive particular praise, being described as "pretty darn excellent" compared to those from other fast-casual Chinese places. They are noted for their nice doughy exterior and flavorful pork filling on the inside, complemented by a good soy-based dipping sauce that seems to be a special dumpling sauce similar to standard soy sauce. In contrast, the Steamed Dumplings are not as favored by at least one reviewer, who finds them less appealing than their fried counterparts.

For fans of Hunan cuisine, Wang's Kitchen seems to be a reliable choice. The Hunan dishes are reported to have a savory and flavorful sauce, which is personally appreciated by at least one customer. This suggests that Wang's Kitchen executes Hunan-style cooking well, providing a satisfying option for those who prefer this regional Chinese flavor profile.

Regarding the atmosphere, Wang's Kitchen is primarily considered a takeout location. While there is an interior space for ordering and pickup, one reviewer suggests that it could use some renovation. This implies that the focus is more on the efficiency of takeout service rather than an elaborate dine-in ambiance. However, another reviewer who dined in (for lunch, though the primary business seems to be takeout) did not comment negatively on the environment, suggesting it is at least adequate for a quick meal.

The service at Wang's Kitchen is generally viewed positively. The owners, a man and woman who are frequently present, are described as very friendly. One customer appreciated a simple greeting and smile from the woman. Their children have also been seen in the restaurant and are noted to be very polite and cute. However, a suggestion was made that having the owners handle phone orders might be more efficient, as there were a couple of instances where the children answering the phone seemed confused or unsure about taking orders. Despite this minor suggestion, the overall impression of the service is friendly and welcoming.

Another enthusiastic reviewer states that Wang's Kitchen "doesn't miss" when it comes to great takeout-style Chinese food. They also commend the owners as being very nice and highlight the consistently quick preparation times, with food typically ready within 15-20 minutes from the time of a call-in order. This efficiency is a significant advantage for those looking for a fast and reliable takeout option. This reviewer also gave a perfect 10/10 rating to the Crab Rangoons and the Szechuan Chicken, indicating that these are also standout dishes worth trying. Additionally, they recommend getting the Lo Mein spicy for those who enjoy a bit of heat.

In summary, Wang's Kitchen in Apex, NC, is a well-regarded fast-casual Chinese restaurant that excels in takeout service. Customers can expect good, fresh, and flavorful food, with particular praise for dishes like the Hunan Chicken, Fried Dumplings, Crab Rangoons, and Szechuan Chicken. The owners are consistently described as friendly, and the service is generally efficient, with quick order preparation times. While the interior might benefit from some updating, the focus is clearly on providing quality food for takeout. Local users looking for a dependable Chinese takeout option in Apex will likely find Wang's Kitchen to be a satisfying choice, especially if they appreciate fresh ingredients, flavorful dishes, and friendly service from the owners.

PLEASE NOTE: I've rated this location with regard to other fast-casual Chinese restaurants that are similar to it in mind. If you are reading this, please keep this in mind throughout the review! Also, keep in mind that to receive a five-star rating would require me to love almost everything about the place and so I reserve that star for places that exceed almost every expectation. I have visited Wang's Kitchen quite a few times. It is a pretty decent location with good, fresh food. Food has flavor and is not overly greasy or oily. I will say the soups could have more flavor as the vegetable soup we ordered one time was a little bit bland. However, dishes don't all taste the same (which I find many Chinese fast-casual restaurants tend to have an issue with). Vegetables are fresh. I usually go with the Hunan Chicken or Chicken w/Broccoli and Fried Eggrolls or Dumplings and they taste pretty good. I also like the Fried Rice and Lo-Mein once in a while. Side Note: Actually, I would even say the Fried Dumplings here are pretty darn excellent compared to other fast-casual Chinese places! They have a nice doughy exterior and nice pork flavor on the inside paired with a good soy-based sauce (that appears to be a special dumpling sauce very similar to soy sauce). I don't prefer the Steamed Dumplings as they just don't taste the same as/compare to Fried Dumplings, in my opinion. Anyways, I am one for Hunan dishes and this place does not disappoint, as far as I'm concerned. Sauce is savory and flavorful, which I personally can appreciate. I can't really speak too much about the atmosphere as this is more of a take-out location, I would say. Though, I do think the inside specifically could use a bit of renovating. I can't speak to other people's experiences, but as far as I'm concerned, overall, it's a good location to pick up some Chinese food to-go!! Thank you for the good food! Another Side Note: Also, I often see the same man and woman here, and they seem very friendly. The woman said hello to me one time with a smile and I appreciated that. I have also seen who I believe to be their children inside the restaurant when I've ordered here before, and they are very polite and cute. I would say, however, as a word of advice, perhaps having the owners taking the orders would be better than the young kids, as a couple of times, the children have picked up the phone and seemed confused with the order I was placing or not sure what to do. I think it would make more sense to have the owners answering the phone, instead. Anyhow, it's a pretty good Chinese fast-casual place in the area! :)

This place doesn’t miss. Great take-out style Chinese food. The couple that owns it are so nice and in classic fashion the food never takes longer than 15-20 minutes from the time you call. Crab Rangoons 10/10. Szechuan chicken 10/10. Great egg-rolls and if you’re down for it, get your Lo Mien spicy.
