About Wallflower

Wallflower, located at 609 Rose Ave in Venice, CA, is presented as a bar that also offers a dining experience. While categorized as a 'Chinese Restaurant' on some platforms (which appears to be an error), it seems to offer a range of dishes and unique cocktails.

One customer had an overwhelmingly positive experience, describing it as an "unexpected great restaurant experience" after another event. They found all the dishes to be "so yummy" and a "delighting tasting experience," recommending family-style dining to sample more of the menu. The cocktails were also praised as unique and a "pleasurable tasting experience," leading to a strong recommendation and a promise to return.

However, other reviews present a contrasting perspective, particularly regarding the pricing. One customer felt Wallflower takes "overpriced to a whole new level for Venice," a place already known for higher prices. They found the portion sizes to be "insultingly small for the prices," while acknowledging that the food was "good" but ultimately "completely forgettable." This reviewer noted that comparable dishes are available in the area for significantly less.

The cocktails, priced at around $20 (a common price in the area), were described as "just fine" by one reviewer, who suggested that for an "amazing $20 cocktail," Si Mon, located nearby, would be a better choice. While the ambience at Wallflower was acknowledged as "nice," this reviewer did not feel it justified the high cost and advised skipping Wallflower in favor of other better restaurants in Venice.

In summary, Wallflower appears to offer a mixed experience. While some customers have found the food and cocktails to be exceptional and the overall experience delightful, others have been significantly disappointed by the high prices relative to the small portion sizes and the perceived average quality of the food and drinks. The ambience is noted as pleasant, but opinions diverge on whether it compensates for the cost. No specific promotional information was available in the provided reviews, leaving potential customers to weigh the contrasting experiences shared.

This is place is awesome. I went with friends after another event and it was an unexpected great restaurant experience. when i already though my evening came to an end. ALL of the dishes are so yummy and I it is a delighting tasting experience. I would recommend family style dining to try as many dishes as possible. The cocktails are all very unique and as with the food they are a pleasurable tasting experience. Indescribable! I will definitely be back...

Wallflower takes overpriced to a whole new level for Venice. We’re used to the high prices here but for the most part you’re getting really great food and/or a large portion. The portions here are actually insultingly small for the prices. The food is good, completely forgettable. We have had many comparable dishes in the area for 1/2 or even 1/3 the price. $20 cocktails aren’t uncommon here either of course, but these were just fine. If you want an amazing $20 cocktail - which, for $20 it better be amazing - go to Si Mon a few minutes away. Sure, the ambience is nice. It’s not enough to make the high spend worth it. There are so many better restaurants in Venice, skip Wallflower.

Loved the intimate atmosphere and the music was very good! Food was delicious but a bit on the spicy side. Would highly recommend getting the jidori chicken, the braised lemongrass beef, the duck lumpias (great for sharing) and the date cake!

Look the food is solid. My drink was good. But the portion sizes are offensively small and the prices offensively high. (Ex: $18 for 1 tiny ass yam) If they want to make it. They’ll need to pivot.

I had 3 vegan options on the menu: som dtam salad, tahu gejrot and the Japanese curry (with extra aromatic jasmine rice). Everything was DELICIOUS. I will absolutely be going back. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also very cute :)
