I stopped by Wah Fung No.1 Fast Food early in the morning right after they opened, and there was already a small line forming—which is always a good sign! This local spot is known for its Chinese-style roasted pork, duck, and chicken, with a very simple menu. But don’t let the limited options fool you—the food is amazing. One of the biggest surprises was the price. It’s incredibly affordable, which is rare in Manhattan, especially for the amount of food you get. I ordered a large roasted pork and a large roast chicken—and they didn’t hold back! Each box came loaded with flavorful meat, steamed cabbage, and a generous serving of rice. The wait was about 15 minutes, but it moved quickly since the food is already prepped and ready. Everything was fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend grabbing your food and enjoying it at the small park right next to the restaurant. Eating it while it’s still hot makes it even better—definitely worth every penny.

I went on a Saturday at around 2:10 and the line was to the corner. I ended getting my food around 4:00, that’s almost 2 f’in hours. The cashier was very polite and so were all the staff. Once you have a bite of the food it makes up for the long wait times. I would definitely recommend either going right before they open up or maybe late in the day when it’s not so busy. I also recommend eating the food fresh and not later in the day, it’s just not the same. I was with my wife so thank g-d she waited on line and I went to North Dumpling on Essex street to get some juicy fried dumplings to hold us over until we got our food. You can’t beat 10 dumplings for $4.00. I ended up ordering a small duck over cabbage and rice and a large pork over cabbage and rice. The duck was good but I am not a fan of all the fat and bones. The pork was out of this world! No fat or bones and cut up into little slices of pure heaven. I think the large at $9.00 is a great deal and if you don’t eat like a pig it can be shared amongst two people. They only take cash as form of payment.

I went to this place to try out their popular Roasted Pork over Rice and Cabbage for 5.75, and I was not disappointed. The food is extremely good and will definitely fill you up. The Roasted Pork was so flavorful and they gave me a generous amount of Pork as well as Rice and Cabbage. The sauce on the food was so good. The lines can get kinda long tho and sometimes the lines can be really slow so I would recommend going earlier or when there isn't a lot of people around. They also only accept cash but the staff are so friendly. But if you are looking for a cheap place with delicious foods and great portions I would recommend coming here.

the wait was long but it was so worth it for the amount and quality of food - they do not skimp on the meats here which we really appreciated! the portion was unbeatable for 8 dollars flat. they're generous with the rice, and the vegetables (cabbage) are steamed so that their natural sweetness is accentuated. unfortunately they were out of the roast duck by when we got there, but we do hope to be back to try it in the future. cash only and no seating!

Absolutely must eat if in New York City Chinatown! I went on a Wednesday 1:30pm and got it around 2:45pm so was waiting for a while… but was well worth the wait. A tiny hole in the wall was completely unexpected they only serve a few different options but are so tasty and flavorful. I got the small pork size portion with steamed cabbage and rice. Even though it is not a big box I only paid $5.75 and I can eat a lot of food (college athlete) but that box was stuffed to brim and truly was so good, and was the perfect sized portion to eat and I probably could have split it into two if I wanted to. Be prepared to wait in line but this was some of the best sweet roast pork I’ve ever had (and I’m Chinese). This place only takes cash so make sure to get some before hand and is also just takeout. I can’t wait to go back to New York again just for this dish.
