About Wa Jeal Chili House

Wa Jeal Chili House is a Chinese Restaurant located at 1588 2nd Ave in the Upper East Side of New York City. As a long-standing establishment in the Chinese Restaurant category, it has garnered varied feedback from its customers.

One long-term customer, who has been visiting for 20 years, considers Wa Jeal Chili House to offer the best Chinese food in North America, emphasizing the excellent food and the polite, kind, and pleasant service. They specifically recommend the General Tso Tofu and the Crispy noodles with vegetables, noting the availability of vegetarian options.

However, a more recent review expressed significant dissatisfaction with a recent order. The eggplant with garlic sauce was described as being excessively oily with an unpleasant taste. The fried rice with shrimp was reported to contain only five shrimp, and the sesame shredded beef was deemed unrecognizable, appearing more like fried skin and fat. This customer, who had previously enjoyed the restaurant, noted a decline in food quality post-pandemic and stated they would not be returning.

Based on these contrasting reviews, customer experiences at Wa Jeal Chili House appear to be inconsistent. While it has a history of providing excellent food and service, recent feedback suggests a potential decline in food quality. For inquiries or to place an order, Wa Jeal Chili House can be contacted at (212) 396-3339 or +1 212-396-3339.

No specific information regarding the restaurant's environment or any current promotional offers is available from these reviews. Potential customers may want to consider the range of recent experiences when making a decision.

Have been going to this place for 20 years. Can say hands down it is the best Chinese food in North America and that is not an exaggeration. The food is excellent, in addition to the service. They are the most polite, kind, and pleasant people. If you are vegetarian, they have a number of options. Make sure to order the General Tso Tofu and the Crispy noodles with vegetables. You will not be disappointed!

We ordered food yesterday. eggplant with garlic sauce was swimming in oil that tasted like motor engine old oil. Fried rice with shrimp that had 5 shrimps and sesame shreded beef that was totally unrecognizable meat. It looked more like fried skin and fat because it was translucent . We have been going to this restaurant in the neighborhood and always liked it, but the quality of food here and in many other places after the pandemic has sharply declined. Will not come back here

An hole in the wall Szechuan restaurant at UES. The spicy is numbing, tofu a bit over cooked, chicken good size and ratio to chili. A very good place, everything came out fast, and is authentic from former Michelin chef. Has since upgraded the decor a lot, much more refined. Like the whole fish, still tender under the sauce. Could use more heat on Chongqing chicken, Lotus root a big different than what I expected, a bit bland. Pea shoot and eggplant were delicious. Sliced tea smoke duck infused with flavor, will try the half duck next time.

Been coming once a week for a month now and it’s been great. Food is consistently very good and the service is awesome. The woman who works day shift is such a sweetheart. I’ve also ordered delivery a couple times. Safe to say this is my new favorite Chinese food spot in the area.
