Welcome to Uncle Yu Restaurant, a highly recommended Chinese restaurant located at 30059 Industrial Pkwy SW, Union City, CA 94587, USA. Based on enthusiastic customer reviews, Uncle Yu Restaurant has quickly become a local favorite, particularly for its takeout options, offering a delightful array of authentic and flavorful Chinese dishes. This family-owned establishment distinguishes itself through its generous portions, well-balanced spices, reasonable prices, and a diverse menu that caters to a wide range of tastes.

One recurring theme in the customer feedback is the exceptional taste and quality of the food. One reviewer enthusiastically declared Uncle Yu Restaurant as their "favorite Chinese takeout now!" They specifically praised several dishes, including the beef chow fun, noting that it had the sought-after "wok hey" – a distinct smoky flavor imparted by the high heat of a wok, which is often a hallmark of well-prepared Cantonese-style dishes. The pork ribs were also highlighted as "so tasty," suggesting a flavorful marinade and proper cooking. Additionally, the eggplants were described as "so flavorful," indicating a well-seasoned and expertly cooked vegetable dish.

Beyond these standouts, the same reviewer also enjoyed the char siu fried rice, describing it as "so yummy" and noting that it came in a "good portion." This suggests that Uncle Yu Restaurant not only delivers on flavor but also provides satisfying quantities of their dishes.

An update from the same reviewer, which included pictures from a subsequent visit, further solidified their positive impression, proclaiming Uncle Yu Restaurant to serve the "Best Sweet and sour pork in the Bay Area!" This is a significant endorsement, as sweet and sour pork is a widely popular dish, and being recognized as the best in a large metropolitan area speaks volumes about the quality of Uncle Yu's preparation.

Another customer simply stated, "A place you should try for sure!" This concise yet powerful recommendation underscores the positive experiences shared by others and encourages potential new customers to give Uncle Yu Restaurant a visit.

One particularly detailed review comes from someone who admits they are "not a big fan of Chinese food" initially, making their overwhelmingly positive experience even more noteworthy. They emphasized that Uncle Yu Restaurant is not a "franchise/fast food place" but rather a "family owned restaurant," which often implies a greater focus on quality, care, and traditional cooking methods.

This reviewer provided a comprehensive list of pros, starting with the amount of food, which they found to be "way more than I expected!" They specifically mentioned "huge portions of meat and side," highlighting the generosity in their servings. They also praised the "perfect balance of spices" in the dishes they tried, indicating a thoughtful and skillful approach to flavor development. The price was also deemed "pretty good," with most combination dishes falling within the $12-22 range, suggesting affordability for the quantity and quality offered.

A unique feature mentioned was that "They serve lamb!" This is less common in many American Chinese restaurants and could be a significant draw for those who enjoy lamb dishes. The wait time was reported to be reasonable at around 15 minutes, which is good for takeout orders. They also tried the crab pockets, describing them as tasting "as a dessert, unusual but good!" This suggests a creative and perhaps unique item on the menu that is worth exploring. The reviewer also noted the "Nice and polite people working there," indicating positive customer service.

Finally, this detailed review mentioned the extensive menu, boasting "118 positions on menu without appetizers," suggesting a wide variety of dishes to choose from, ensuring that there is likely something to satisfy every palate.

The only con mentioned in this detailed review was that "Seems like right now they are serving only to-go. No option for dine-in." This is an important piece of information for local users to note – currently, Uncle Yu Restaurant appears to be primarily focused on takeout service. Customers looking to dine in may need to inquire about the current status of their dine-in options.

Despite not being a big fan of Chinese food initially, the reviewer was highly impressed with the Mongolian Beef (calling it "one of the best dishes in the whole Chinese kitchen") and the Kung Pao Chicken, stating that they tasted "so good!" They concluded by expressing their intention to visit again, further emphasizing their positive experience and appreciation for Uncle Yu Restaurant.

In conclusion, Uncle Yu Restaurant in Union City appears to be a standout choice for local users seeking delicious and authentic Chinese takeout. The consistently positive reviews highlight the flavorful food, generous portions, reasonable prices, and friendly service. Standout dishes like the beef chow fun with wok hey, tasty pork ribs, flavorful eggplant, char siu fried rice, and the highly praised sweet and sour pork make it a must-try. The extensive menu, including unique options like lamb and crab pockets, offers a wide variety of choices. While currently focused on takeout service, the quality and taste of the food make Uncle Yu Restaurant a top contender for your next Chinese meal in Union City.

Our favorite Chinese takeout now! The beef chow fun has that wok hey that we’ve been searching for in many places, the pork ribs were so tasty! And the eggplants - so flavorful! We also had more food - their char siu fried rice was so yummy and came in good portion too! Update: added pics from another visit! Best Sweet and sour pork in the Bay Area!

A place you should try for sure! First of all. I'm not a big fan of Chinese food. But today I had just an amazing experience. Also you need to understand that it is not a franchise/fast food place. It is a family owned restaurant. Pros: - The amount of food is way more than I expected!( Huge portions of meat and side) - It is just my opinion but it seems like I find a perfect balance of spices! - Price is pretty good. Almost every combination dish between $12-22. - They serve lamb! - Wait time was about 15 min. - We ordered some crab pockets.... Tastes as a dessert, unusual but good! - Nice and polite people working there. -118 positions on menu without appetizers. Cons: - Seems like right now they are serving only to-go. No opinion for dine-in. When I try some new places I always take something familiar. Same was today. We tried Mongolian Beef (In my opinion one of the best dishes in the whole Chinese kitchen) and Kung-pao Chicken. It tastes so good! We will definitely visit you guys again. Really appreciate!

First of all, if you’re hungry, the portions are huge, witch is good. Good quality ingredients, on the healthy side. Eco friendly packaging for take away.
