About Uncle Wang

Welcome to Uncle Wang, a Chinese Restaurant located at 801 58th St in Brooklyn, New York, specializing in authentic Fuzhounese cuisine. Based on customer reviews, Uncle Wang offers a unique dining experience with a focus on flavor and affordability.

One reviewer who visited in December 2022 specifically sought out Uncle Wang for its Fuzhou food in a smoke-free setting, noting it as a "cute little restaurant." The space is described as tiny, with only four round tables accommodating up to six people each and a counter by the window seating four. The reviewer confirmed that smoking is not allowed inside. They enjoyed several Fuzhounese dishes, including drunken spare rib tips with taro, Fuzhou fish balls, and fried thin vermicelli noodles, as well as dumplings. They found everything delicious and remarkably cheap, stating that despite the no-frills decor and service, the flavors and prices more than compensate, potentially making it their new favorite Fuzhou restaurant on 8th Ave, especially due to the no-smoking policy.

However, other reviews suggest a decline in quality and affordability over time. One long-time customer mentioned a slip in these aspects. Another recent diner found the food to be good but not great, experiencing a strong taste of dish soap in their wonton soup and overly watery fried Mei fun. They also noted smaller portion sizes and an excess of sauce in the peanut butter noodles, making them too wet and salty. This reviewer indicated they would not return due to the availability of better quality and priced options elsewhere.

In summary, Uncle Wang appears to be a small, no-frills Chinese restaurant in Brooklyn that specializes in authentic Fuzhounese dishes and is appreciated for its flavorful food and affordable prices, particularly noted for its smoke-free environment. However, some recent feedback indicates potential concerns regarding food quality and portion sizes. For those seeking Fuzhounese cuisine in a smoke-free setting, Uncle Wang might be worth considering. You can contact them at (347) 987-4763 or +1 347-987-4763 for more information.

This place use to by my go to spot for years but over the years it has sadly slipped down in terms of quality and affordability. The food was good but not great. My wonton soup bowl while dining in tasted strongly of dish soap and the fried Mei fun was too watery. Also the portions are much less and i wasn’t full like i used to be from 1 order of noodle. The peanut butter noodles also had too much sauce and became too wet and salty towards the end. I would not return here as there are so many spots that sell this food for better price and better quality.

I went here on December 11th 2022 when I wanted to show my non-Asian friend some authentic Fuzhounese food in a setting without smokers. We tried to go to a few other restaurants and found there were a lot of guys smoking inside so we decided to search for Fuzhou food and stumbled upon this cute little restaurant. It is a tiny space, with only 4 round tables that can fit up to 6 max and a counter by the window for 4 people. I checked about the smoking situation and the woman working at the counter told me that there was no smoking allowed. I ordered a few of my favorite FJ dishes (drunken spare rib tips and taro, Fuzhou fish balls, fried thin vermicelli noodles) and of course had to get some dumplings, even if they aren't specifically an FJ dish. Everything was delicious and absurdly cheap. Even if the restaurant's decor and service are no-frills, it makes up for it in the flavors and the prices. This may be my new favorite FJ restaurant on 8th Ave (esp. because of the no smoking situation).

Gotta say the dumplings here are amazing. It’s fried and juicy! Everything is decently priced as well.
